One of my favourite supermatches ever. Notice how in the first 3 rounds Devon kept trying to enforce his preferred style of armwrestling, to keep climbing and gain the hand advantage. After round 3 when Mike got the 2nd pin Devon realises that Mike has more power than he thought, and also that he can't beat that dirty arm lock with hand strength. So he adapts, and instead of messing about trying to gain hand advantage and armwrestle pretty, he just puts the power down and from there on it was completely one sided. That's the mark of a truly great armwrestler. To be able to recognise where it's not working for you during a match, and to adapt and try something else. Michael Todd can't do this because he only has one move, and that is why even at near 300lbs he still got smoked by Devon.
Today's Devon is even more technical (if that's posible), we need him back to this raw power. Same match today probably goes for Todd. He has more strengh than then, and Devon doesn't. This match was gold because you can see how fast Devon change the technique, and how fast responds to the Todd's hits. All about hand movement, angles and power to stop him of course. He was a beast those years.
technomafia123 You was hoping his arm would break at some point? Why the fuck would you hope that happens....to anyone? Who the fuck cares what technique he uses? It doesn`t have to be pretty....as long as it works. If you`re upset because he wins with it...just only highlights how good the technique is, to allow someone to beat another person, that`s stronger. I train for arm wrestling, and though i rarely use that technique, it doesn`t bother me when someone else uses it against me. Ima beat them anyways, or, if i can`t, i`ll adapt and perhaps either try it myself, or make it so they can`t use it effectively.
Brute Force Pubstomping Todd doesnt use his bone lock, idiot....and many arm wrestlers used it, and i used it as well. You know nothing, idiot. You only need the strength to do so.
+brentlion He does actually have a lock in his arm, same as Denis Cyplenkov. It locks in the position u see him in most of the time, and it locks before he can pull it all the way up. Todd himself has even spoken about this. So sit down and shut up.
Alek N His arm has a lock, doesnt mean he uses it. He`s strong near his bone lock, but cyplenkov doesnt use his, either. It takes a great deal of strength
Look how in slow-mow at 3:18 you can see the exact moment when Todd went from thinking he was an arm wrestler to realizing that he's not. Back to the floor checking the bottom of the table for gum for the rest of the rounds!
I was thinking that Todd was douche too but after I watched this video he seemed really nice guy and he explained why he's doing that. you should watch this too. /watch?v=ag8eG76P_yM
Todd has such a weird, ugly style. It looks like he is trying to deliberately break his own arm by keeping it on the pad and then hurling his body beneath the table. Kinda nice to see him get handled by Devon.
I've used that position before. Very little chance of breaking your arm if you do it right....feels pretty comfortable. Your arm could be forced in a direction its not supposed to go, but you can turn your body to prevent any injuries.
Well, technically speaking, Todd should be disqualified in most of his matches. His elbow is NOT on the table, almost everytime, his TRICEPS is on the table, while he hangs down. But triceps is not elbow. Look at 2:15 for example.
I was thinking that Todd was douche too but after I watched this video he seemed really nice guy and he explained why he's doing that. you should watch this too. /watch?v=ag8eG76P_yM
2:11, elbow foul on Todd. Todd's style matches up well against Larratt's style. Todd is one of the few that has similar armwrestling endurance as Larratt. Here, you see Todd still measures up close to Larratt even before he fully went "Under-the-Table" Todd.
Arm Wrestling rules- "4. The tip of elbow losing contact with the top of elbow pad at any time during the match." How is what Michael Todd is doing legal?
just so awesome to watch how Larrat knows how to handle Todd in every way he tries to get his angle. A true master of style and technique in armwrestling
You are right! It was absolutely ridiculous how many times Todd had his arm straightened out almost completely with his elbow clearly off the pad so he could more easily try to hang all of his weight on Devon's arm!
Round 5 is amazing, both going from losing positions to winning positions to losing positions in a matter of seconds, great armwrestling, what a battle...
Damn...i love it when Devon plays cat and mouse with his opponent. When Devon breaks out in that alpha male smile of his knowing that he will prevail...it is so awesome to behold his strong confident masculinity in action. WOW!
I respect both guys. Todd definately has his elbow off the pads the majority of time, but since some flesh is still touching the pad does it negate the penalty because something is touching??
Rewatching this after the 406 video released today. I notice that whoever is the most eager/confident in winning... loses. In this match, Todd was over eager and didn't use his under the table strat whereas the match on 9/5.. Devon was over eager/trying to end and ended up draining himself.
@InTheHookJohn I agree with your analysis of Pushkar and Denis, Todd will get to number 2 if he can organize a match with Denis. What do you think Todd's chances are in a rematch with Devon in Todd's current new shape? I have a feeling that he's only going to get better.
my qeustions is who stronger at left between denis and travis and who felt stronger in john's opinion? the other qeustion is whos stronger at right voevoda or larrat ? and the last qeustion is what does he think of rustam and zoleov powers? he faced both who is better than the other?
Technicaly perffect Larratt here. How he anticipates some danger movements from Todd. Very fast corrections. Will see if Larrat has enought strengh to beat Michael now. Waiting for that match.
Michael Todd`s style is unorthodox, but effective. Many people seem to dislike it, but the judges allow it, and it usually works. Seems like a pretty good style to me. Todd has found that deep hooks has caused his arm a lot of fractures and ruptures, and he cant even fully straighten his arm anymore, so he adapted. Todd is strong when he has his arm high and his body low, so he uses it.
Lol, Michael Todd was almost on the floor for a lot of this match, thought he was going to completely disappear from camera shot. Good match, mind, and good music !
Those 2 guys are my idols along with brzenk, I'm actually a bobybilder and an armwrestler, those guys give me the will to puch me back a little more on armwrestling ! love you all guys
@bogdychamp BTW, they will be at the same event at the russian A1 in July. But Alexey won't be competing just attending, they might meet for the first time, Devon and Alexey that is.
Two things I've noticed: 1. Todd's style is about fear. He's afraid. 2. When Todd is about to lose, he tries to slip from the straps. Everything I find distasteful about Todd's approach to armwrestling makes me appreciate Brzenk's approach even more.
Despite what some might think, I think Devon is awsome....In the hook is so informative and scientific. I hope Devon wins all future matches and stays healthy. Devon....keep up the great work! Canada is proud.
Love how they use every angle of the table, of their body. Larratt is definitely a better all rounded amwrestler, but a well placed tricep press of Todd is the kryptonite of Devon
its originally a METALLICA song called fade to black...These rave freaks gave it the electronica and took all the metallica out....talk about cheaters!!!!!
@InTheHookJohn The funny thing about Voevoda is it's all based on one supermatch with Todd in '07, and one great performance at Nemiroff in 2004, that's it.
I think in an interview Brzenk said the Alexey may have had enough strength to pin Devon every time, but if the match was stopped that Devon would win. Such a shame that Demons of Destruction is going forward, was so looking forward to Todd and Jerry meeting and also Jerry and Devon, and the rematch with Devon and Todd..
@bogdychamp What would you be willing to bet? Voevoda will probably be back in 2014. How much are you willing to bet that he could beat Devon over 6 rounds?
Michael Todd is an embarrassment to all armwrestling.
lol
"I bwoke my back. Spinal." - Mike Tython
i can agree more , his elbow always get out of the pad ever so slightly but still.
shut up
what Mike Tython says
1:17 Larrat movements perfectly match up with the music :D
lmao i was gonna say that
+Dima Kluchko same as @3:20 :D how can anyone even press like that @3:30 without his arm breaking at the elbow? :|
+Gabriel C Its about positioning....and strength.
Gabriel C It some beginner was in that position it would probably be arm break.
ily
Todd should just hang under the table and armwrestle himself from either side.
LOL
Fuck, that was funny!! thank you for the good laugh
Oh God that was the perfect comment! LOLOLOLOL!!!!! :)
pissed myself!
I know I'm 8 years late but damn that's funny.
Michael "Under the Table" Todd
+FrostyCoug said like a god
FrostyCoug was meant to convey his begging for mercy.
FrostyCoug. Todd's elbow is hardly ever on the pad? his techniques r illegal
Michael "soon to break his arm" Todd
hahahah
One of my favourite supermatches ever.
Notice how in the first 3 rounds Devon kept trying to enforce his preferred style of armwrestling, to keep climbing and gain the hand advantage. @@betofernandez5524 well
michael todd has the ugliest arm wrestling style, while larrat has the coolest
It is truth!
SkaterLauro your wrong its jhon the coolest.
I like Brzenk and Larratt, for their styles and conduct, but Todd not so much.
that fits well with Michael's overall style.
Bruh Devon uses the king's move too
rofl at the referee's face at 4:35 "oh shit.. i left the oven on at home"
Ahahahah ya I saw that
Triceps on the pad and elbow 2 inches up in the air. Is that still legal?
+Piero della Francesca I was wondering the same.
Piero della Francesca Yeah what he's doing is perfectly legal. I dont like it either though.
Nope, illegal
Michaels a cheater dude. And he gets away with it
Yup, apparently.
I'm just glad to see Larratt beat Todd. All that cheating didn't help Todd in the long run
technomafia123 You was hoping his arm would break at some point? Why the fuck would you hope that happens....to anyone? Who the fuck cares what technique he uses? +brentlion shut up, that technique is so fucking cheap, and unless u have the special bone lock that Todd has then u can't use it effectively
Brute Force Pubstomping Todd doesnt use his bone lock, idiot....and many arm wrestlers used it, and i used it as well. You know nothing, idiot. You only need the strength to do so.

5 years later he still under the table
Todd you're cheater badass. Devon is my favorite, so strong and also fair wrestler.

HOLY SHIT.... The amount of times Todd lifts his elbow off the pad in different directions WITHOUT getting a foul...
2:11, elbow foul on Todd.

for those wondering .../// song = fade to black metallica :)
This was one of the best supermatches ever!!!
Fudge sticks... that was super agressive and technical. I really enjoyed watching it.
Nice video bro.
Dream ArmWrestling Champion! Devon Larrat
This was the first arm wrestling match i ever watched.. been a fan of Devon larratt and the sport of armwrestling since then
Superman vs Lex Luthor right here. Devon is just a beast, no shady locking techniques and hiding under the table required.
i did not know that one. thanks for info
I love how Devon starts looking around & "Woo Hooing" Through his matches gets me amped just watching LoL
pls tell me song name :)
Which version of Fade To Black is this? I cant find it anywhere.
