Try the version of this from their masterpiece (part live, part studio) album Moonflower. You could just explore the whole album from start to finish. You'll be adding at least a few more tracks to your playlist. It's peak earlier/classical Santana (1969 - 1977).
+1 I prefer the more dynamic live version too. Moonflower is an ace LP. This 1976 show at the BBC (It was a simulcast with BBC radio - I taped it naturally) has a nifty version as well, where you can see just how brilliant they were as a live band - ruclips.net/video/KdhqbINYpME/видео.html
When this was current, Santana played bongos the final few minutes after the mind-bending guitar solo. This is still my favorite Santana cut for all the reasons DramaSydE cited.
Carnival...Let The Children Play...Jugando...they open the album “Festival”...the three tunes morph into one...and I saw them open a Day On The Green with this...yes THAT Day On The Green with The Outlaws...Lynyrd Skynyrd and Peter Frampton...to this day one of the best open tunes at a concert I have ever seen..
Those three songs should be done together as one and the versions on the Festival studio album are fine but I prefer the live versions from the Moonflower album. Just amazing.
Carlos has such a unique sound to his guitars and to his playing that it’s instantly recognizable. Don’t know if it’s the tone or the way the guitars are tuned but you always know when you hear it. This was a phenomenal track. That synth, or at least I think it was a synth, near the end of the song layering on top of the percussion and the guitar, OMG. Wow. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
You are 100% right. . There are certain guitaritsts who can play just ONE note and you instantly recognize their "sound" Carlos Santana is one of those guitarists. He started out playing a Gibson SG guitars, which has twin-coil "Humbucker" pickups. . He played them for DECADES. . . Distinctive sound. He now plays PRS guitars a lot . . . BUT they are built and wired just like a Gibson SG, so he keeps the same "sound"
You gotta do Santana Tanglewood Live to see the Original and BEST lineup. They are Legendary. Do Tanglewood "Black Magic Woman" and "Incident at Neshabur" for starters. Happy New Year Brother
I think you have to be dead for a week to not want to "Move You're Thing" with Santana. Great reaction as always. Have a great one all.
This is one of those songs that makes me wish I could dance, but alas...
I can at least "chair groove - head nods and shoulder rolls" to this one
Always do YOU! Nobody does it better. Besides, everybody else is already taken! 😅
Thank you Grace

My favorite of the older Santana gems is Europa..give it a listen, you won't be disappointed..

The second half of the song is probably some of the most sensuous grooving anywhere. I can just melt into my lady on that.
Santana, a very, VERY deep rabbit hole. Abraxas, Borboletta, Supernatural. SO many great albums. Go deep, go long, go Santana, my friend.
One of my favourite Santana album's is one that do so hot...Caravanserai
Gotta love the percussion instruments played by the very talented Cuban percussionist Armando Peraza.
Phenomenal!
Best described as Miles Davis put it motherfucker masterpiece❤
I must have listened to this track a thousand times, not just with my ears but with my spirit!
I used to wear this album out. I haven't heard this in a long time. No, you can do your thing, it's cool. Yeah.Thanks. Peace
After a tiring day it's good to come home and groove to some Santana
Perfect song to dance around the house with your little girl!!!

@@neonpark1874 I actually agree with you...the Moonflower version is 🔥🔥🔥
Santana’s playing always sounds clean.

Grew up listening to Santana. Always an infectious groove!
The Tony Valdez Large Band does a great version of this song.
That man is amazing, had the pleasure of seeing him 4 times... outstanding.
💯
You'll enjoy Santana! ✌🤟
Viva Santana live for m is the best live version but whatever version it’s pure joy 🤩 just shut your eyes and take it in
