Good video! My favorite tempranillo is either Astrales or La Rioja Alta SA. Also had a very good Rioja La Montesa Reserva Especial 2015 at 40 bucks: very good stuff!

In Moldova, one winery (Fautor) is growing Tempranillo and produces a very nice wine with it. Probably you tasted it when you was in Moldova.

The Vega Sicillia Unico 2006 is actually the best wine that I ever tasted. Unfortunately we only had 1 bottle for 6 people, so I only had 2 small tasting pours but it was absolutely amazing. For my palate it's really a 100/100 points wine, although I didn't have many wines in a similar price range to compare it to.
Afterwards we ordered another bottle of a wine that would probably score like 90 points, so also a very nice wine but the difference was astounding.
That being said I also enjoy more affordable Spanish Tempranillos, it's currently my favourite red wine style together with Beaujolais.

@@drmatthewhorkey Thank you. Maybe saying that I am a wine beginner was not completely accurate, I mean I am 33 and the legal drinking age in Germany is 16, so that's a lot of time to drink wine xD
I think what still makes me a beginner though is, that while I had many wines in my life I am extremely bad at identifying wines. I mean I can tell a Zinfandel from a Pinot Noir but if you asked me to tell a Chilean Cabernet from a Bordeaux Cabernet/Merlot blend I would probably not be able to do it.
I mostly just bought wines and when I liked them I bought them again but for the longest time I didn't try to make any connection to a grape variety or a region for example. The only exception to this is that I had so many Rieslings that I discovered that I like that particular variety.
Most of my wine knowledge comes from only 3 RUclips channels (one of them being yours) and honestly, 6 months ago I didn't even know what Chenin Blanc was, or Gamay.
So while I can articulate what I like about a wine, there is still a lot of knowledge and blind tasting skill that I am lacking. It's very exciting though, there is so much still to learn and I really enjoy it.

If you have the oportunity and taste some of that wines and you like them i have more sugestions. Best Regards
