  • Cute Japanese Polite Bowing Deer
I came across this cute Japanese deer at Nara Park in Japan that would bow and wait before taking the Shika Senbei (deer cracker) out of my hand. Very polite deer!!

The history of Japan is very old, about 2,000 years since the Emperor's reign, but humans began to live in villages and communities in this island nation about 10,000 years ago, during “the Jomon pottery” culture.
It is so long a history that even the Japanese themselves are not aware that they are The Japanese religion”NIHON Kyou”. But they have inherited the long history.
The word "NIHON or NIPPON(Japan)" means the land under the sun,
but another name is "WA"koku or "YAMATO koku," meaning “Harmony among People and people with Nature”.
YAMATO means WA="Harmony of people and nature," adding "big" and "largest" to WA(harmony).
Japan ,Nippon,Wa,Yamato means “the Land under the Sun”and” the Land of "Harmony of People and Nature,”

Nara deer has been protected as messenger of God for more than 1,200 years. Some people say that the Fujiwara clan nobles of the Heian Period (9th century) upon encounters got off the palanquin and bowed down to the deer, and the deer, evolving from generation to generation, learned to bow back expecting for food.

All deer in Nara Park are wild deer.
This bowing gesture is a signal that the deer are threatening you.
When you give a deer rice cracker to a deer, please do not rush it and give it immediately.
(Rough-tempered deer may head-butt you repeatedly, depending on the time of year.)
