Episode 1 of this year's Edinburgh Comedy Fest Live see's Lucy Beaumont take to the stage, enjoy!
The 'Mamma Mia' joke is brilliant!
Was looking for this comment as soon as she made it :)
Best bit is that is actually how we’d say mam I’m here
@@gibbz91 😐👎
It's not hers
I know regional accents it's so amazing!! Imagine people have different accents...so weird! Hahaha
First time I have seen Lucy Beaumont - very funny!
Her sitcom "To Hull and back" is absolutely wonderful too.
Massively underrated comedienne that doesn't get enough exposure.
there was one good joke in this set. not really underrated tbh. and before anyone starts, i had to watch to form an opinion. i am new to her and was just checking. can't decide to not watch until you know they're not funny.
Blessing in disguise! Save us from her
I love her accent
@@johnwedgbury6817 Yeah I'd agree, her standup is not that great. But the meet the richardsons show is def funny.
.....She’s about as funny as chewing razor blades
Can't believe she literally read out a flyer....wicked funny 🤣
Goodness she is adorable! Her and Jon are so perfect for each other!
Not any more.
@@manwithanaccent4315 You're late with the news.
@@Munki - yeah, I know.
Heyyy! Jimmy Carr was wrong! Jon does let her out sometimes.
Of course, otherwise people won't believe him she's real
Aditya Wath it’s alright he’s got the tracking anklet on her 😂😂😂
Married in 2015
But is it a carrot in the box?
@@richardpeake8653 Divorced 2024.........................
I shall never forget "err nerr thuz snerr on the rerrd" 😂😂😂
Because you don't have a scandinavian keyboard, you can't write it how it sounds to us. Ø nø thørs snø øn thø rød. ^^
@@andrewjersey3633 In Swedish, snow is called snö but röd means red.
I lived near Hull for many years and the accent is quite unique. If you asked someone to say 'The coast road' and 'The cursed road' they would sound the same, or 'My toes are cold' and 'My toes are curled'
It’s plays in my head every now and then. Just discovered where it came from, from years back.
@@MrDiddyDee Not quite mate. "coast" would be "cursed" but "cursed" would be "cersed". Same with cold ;)
What a completely adorable and cute woman. Lucky old Jon!
Yep lucky old Jon ....... battin well above..
She’s hilarious, but I have the hots for Jon though ❤
Love it, from Malton, listening to it in Canada.
She is like the 1st women of Hull now :) love her pride of Hull
I'll give hull a miss then
Being that I am from Hull, Québec, Hull in the UK is definitely on my bucket list of places to visit. I'm thinking the two places will have very similar cultures, even if the mother tongue is different.
Jon Richardson brought me here, glad he did, she’s lovely & funny. If you go to a Rugby League game in Hull you will this phrase a thousand times “Gettum on saarrd (get them onside 😜.
That menu is from Victoria on Prince's Ave. She missed out The Samaritans number on the back
I think she is fantastic. Her radio 4comedy from hull is allso fantastic and what a wonderful cast she has in it . I wish her all the luck in the world.
Aww she's brilliant. Makes me almost proud to be from Hull 😂😂
That mamma Mia joke is class lmao
Awww shes so odd - it's kinda cute. I can now imagine how her and Jon got together. Both weird and wonderful people.
Its crap
@@johnsmith-wx5fb what's crap?
@@RelaxingForLife her act
@@johnsmith-wx5fb piss off mate.. She was alright.
@@agastyas6709 an affected dopy northern accent talking about northern things. Not for me . you crack on lad😀
She is delightful and so suitable for Jon Richardson. I wish them a long, happy and successful marriage.
Hmmm
Hmmm…..I’m from the future, it didn’t end well…..
The purse is a nice touch. Makes it look like she's a nice lady who just wandered in and decides to tell a few jokes.
Attractive Comedian, but brilliant 👏 👌 calm & patience with her jokes !! Definitely needs more of the big gigs! Lucky man Jon' who's excellent too. Keep it up 'Lucy' 🇮🇪
I absolutely LOVE her accent.
She needs more videos!
I suggest those who are using foul language and insults to a fantastic writer and comedienne should try standing up there and do it themselves. Or if you have an evening away from your shrinks, try listening to 'Hull And Back. Fresh comedy at it's best.
Nobody is doing that
@@annother3350 think about it. Obviously somebody deleting
I like her accent. It's a really typical old rural English accent :) Tastes like home churned butter in me ears :)
Erm, ...Hull is a large city and port, not exactly what you'd class as rural.
@@MrDiddyDeenot rural but definitely unique😂
I'm from Hull too, but not the same Hull. I'm French-Canadian, but I'm sure we have a very similar culture. Hull, Québec is very working poor background with an interesting accent.
She's cute and charming - but I just saw her on QI and boy is she ditzy. Very likeable though.
WalterLiddy oh my god i see u everywhere. We have very similar tastes in comedy
Extremely funny and soooo cute
sohappy they found each other and now have a bubby. isnt life wonderful. tfs
Heard a version of the poo joke 50 years ago
A man came running down some steps outside St. Pancras Station, slipped on a dog turd and crashed into the gutter, as he was lying there another man came running out the station down the steps and slipped on the same dog turd also crashing into the gutter, as he gathered his senses the first man still in the gutter turned to him and said 'I just did that' and the second man thumped him in face!
I remember Carrott doing that one in Brum before he was famous
Dave Allen was the first time I heard it.
Hilarious, witty, cute as a button... what's not to love? Lucy rocks!
Wow! The Mamma Mia joke!
She's too cute. Must be something wrong with my ears though, cause I understand her just fine
+Carol White She's toning it down a bit so more people can understand
MapleSyrupColour Thanks.
Yeah this is pretty tame you won’t have a clue what’s going on in Hull even i struggle sometimes😂
Hilarious. Where can we a whole set?
I love Lucy.
Well nows your chance
Grt Video 🤣😍
"Don't look. why? it's yer mum."
I Love. Lucy !!!
She’s on season 16 of Taskmaster and is by far the most interesting, and lovably odd contestant they have ever had.
Any one else from hull?
Molly Crowther I’m not from Hull, but I have been there a few times, and I’m still alive!
How I got out alive from The Eldon Grey pub is beyond me?
I'm from Hull too! I'm a French-Canadian from Hull, Québec. I wish she could come here to visit.
I,d love that burger
well you found love for a few years lol
Did she ever get any new material?
Can you share her FULL SPECIAL here please?😊
HULL HULL HULL🙌🏼
So cute and adorable.
Just wanna cuddle her.
Love you
Given the way Jon is, I’m surprised that he married her since she doesn’t seem like she would fit in his perfect and “neat” little world, since he has made numerous comments on quiz shows, etc. about how she can’t load the dw right or things of that nature and you would think he would only have a tolerance for so much of that b4 he blew his top! Same for having a baby, but I guess his uptightness is ALL just an act, whereas I originally thot only SOME of it was, but it’s obvious now that the whole thing must be or else he would be totally nutty by now!!
Much of the best comedy is based on truth but taken to the extreme. Jon is uptight but he exaggerates it for comedic purposes and he no doubt exaggerates Lucy's contrasting qualities as well.
Bang on for ull that love .. that's us to a t....
so weird, I remember watching her at the time, then she disappeared until I heard she married Jon Richardson
Bloody love Hull
What an incredibly beautiful woman,, completely wasted on Jon,,, lol.. sorry
That's just rude...I'm sure there are times she's on him and totally sober!
Have I been watching too much Jimmy Carr? Naww... no such thing. ;)
Not as bad as I'd hoped.
Jacky’s real name is Sara
Did she leave the comedy in the handbag?
That accent is unique say least..it would take getting used to that's for sure lol in a nice way obvs.. imagine being married
Hull, yep odd
Yer dun grreat, Lass...........
That’s my nan
You know nofin John Snnnow.
🤩🤩🤩
I'm from Hull......thought she was very funny.
Where that pizza place
What are the audience laughing at?
❤️😂
Fantastic
I refuse to believe that I EVER used to speak like that 😬 Left Hull as a teenager and have a MUCH better accent now 🤓👍🏻. A very funny woman I'm glad I've discovered (although accent is going to give me flash-backs)
Jc I bet you’re fun to be around aren’t you
Nothing wrong with the accent.
A better accent? Have a day off😂
I got the mamma mia was mom, i am here..what about the "oh no the snow on the road"
I think it was just the pronumciation of the o's
@@thejintymyster6396and, I presume, a play on the phrase “the rain in Spain…” (not to mention it’s Hull. It snows).😉✌️
As someone who has never been to Hull.... I hope I remain someone who has never been to Hull.
Great input sunshine! Please elaborate
@@Wild14726 Well Alex, Hull is a shit hole. One of the worst, most depressing places in the UK. If I was to go to Hull my life would be at risk. Either from the disgusting scum that live there, or just by the place being so terrible it will cause me to commit suicide. I'd rather be at Auschwitz in 1943 than Hull at any point in time as the quality of life would be better.
@@Ellis01234567890 If you've never been to Hull then are you just saying what someone else has said, who's actually been ?
@@rakadoni8403 We have the internet these days. It is possible for me to know what a shit hole Hull is without me actually having to go to Hull. Just like how people research possible holiday destinations to see if they're nice to visit before booking the trip. I can research Hull to see what an awful place it is.
That's great, we'd rather not have someone like you visit!
A woman just used her last joke on The Graham Norton Show series 20 episode 19 as a story on his 'Big Red Chair' segment 24.02.17.
That's a bit of a shit move and also a shit pun from me.
Jonny M ah, I was thinking I'd heard that last joke somewhere before
Just looked up that red chair segment, I don't know if I'd call it a rip off tbh. Punch line is 100% the same, the scenario is completely different. I'd agree it could easily be fabricated but it's also something we can stupidly say in the moment without thinking.
Quite funny.
Ah noo.
I'm so confused, how did Hull win city of culture 2017 in 2014...?
Probably awarded by the local Hull council.
Because it gives the city time to arrange events a bit like the Olympics!!
🙈🙈
mam am ere
City of culture 2017 in 2014? Am I missing something?
It is a year long event, which is host by the designated city. However the hosting of it is awarded years in advance in order for that chosen city to plan and prepare for it... Hull did indeed host the event for 2017. www.britishcouncil.org/arts/hull-city-culture-tour/city-of-culture
Yup, Lucy was correct. These things take years of planning the many cultural events involved so the host city is awarded it way in advance.
nice. :)
She's like a female Ken goodwin
Lucy is a rarity on the women's comedy circuit in that she's actually funny. No woke feminist rubbish from her, just jokes and observations that the majority people can relate to. Love her to bits ❤
who is she never heard of her,
I think she is quite funny, nice lady does alot for charity, a shame she is stigmatised for being jon richardsons wife...when clearly...she can hold her own!
.... all that for £5.10 in 2014 ...
shite
Why does she have her purse
To carry pizza leaflets
It's called a handbag over here. A purse is what you put coins in.
For props.
She's just not funny
It seems that all you need nowadays to pass for a comedian is a strong accent and a couple of anecdotes
A kicked a bow again a woe once, bonced it back and bost it... Nah, there's summat missin.
I wish the dinosaurs on here would stop using the 19th century word comedienne.
Ok sweetheart
Taskmaster.......more fun watching University Challenge. Really forced laughter
Grimsby's better
If a comedy fest then reckon she's obviously got lost!
Lucy Beaumont should be more funny than her accent is... But she's not! About as funny as cramp
You should probably be aware that funny is not objective. You can like or not like whatever comedians you want to but, when you comment as though your opinion is objective, it says more about you than it does about the comedian.
wunnell stick with this comedian if your aim is not to be funny.
@@voodoochile333, why do you think that you get to decide what other people find funny?
She's embarrassing, not funny at all.
Basing your whole act on being northern. Booooooooring. Like black american comics just talking about being black constantly. Booooooring
When doing a short show on your Edinburgh debut, go with the material that has the most impact. That's what she did, to great effect. If she had ambitions of being a stand-up comic for a long period then she would presumably expand her range from what she knows best, as so many other comedians have done before her. She's not sticking to just stand-up though.
@@wunnell she's not sticking to just stand up!?!? Wow! Is there no beginning to her talents
The old ones are the best.
She has no even german features this is something like modern danes (it not the same in reality). i think generally she looks like some of modern danes.
hull has a lot if danish influence in its accent
Shes not german
Just not funny.......bit like Miranda
Just dishing your home town not comedy, childlike style becomes nauseating,
If it's funny then it's comedy and this is funny to plenty of people. This was her Edinburgh debut and she was nominated for best newcomer, so that's something. I've often heard the advice to stick to what you know when starting out in comedy and that's exactly what she has done. If she had stuck to just stand-up then she would presumably have expanded her range over time, just like so many other comedians have done.
Right on paul. Somebody doing an affected baby voice in a northern accent it doesn't really do the trick. Its really odd. If i was in an audience and this was playing out on front of me i think I'd die of embarrassment by proxy.
@@wunnell who is u? P.R?
Cheap jokes
I think we know who the comedian is in the family. Appalling comic timing and terrible material
Sticking pins in your eyes is funnier than this
She's a lovely person, but this stand-up was so unfunny... But that applies to most of the Taskmaster contestants.
