This channel has the best lessons for beginners that I’ve found. In particular, it’s really helpful how when the follower’s steps are being demonstrated, the leader is still doing his steps in the background (and vice versa). That really helps me understand how everything works together. For me, when other instructors only show one person’s part at a time, it can look like an arbitrary sequence of steps that’s harder to remember.

@@SocialDanceOnline Yes, I checked it out yesterday. Love the way it’s organized!
Question: do you think West Coast Swing is harder for inexperienced dancers to learn? That’s what my instructor said but I think it might just because they don’t do group classes for that style to go along with the individual lessons.
Edit: Never mind. I just found video on your channel titled 5 Reasons West Coast Swing is Harder Than Other Dances. Haha.

This takes the basic to another level. This add a look in moving more than 90 degrees to 30 degrees on the quick quick. Smooths the rough edge.

Most excellent lesson. I really have trouble leading a grapevine in "the wild" because it always catches follower by suprise. This way seems to set it up in a way that follow and know something's coming. Very approachable moves even at bronze levels.

There are MANY dancers from the ballroom, country and swing world that have their fingerprints on my knowledge. That and 25+ years on the dance floor :-)

It would be helpful to explain what is the difference between a box step and a twinkle...
How to lead the lady to the promenade....
How to avoid the collision if the leader wants outside positions....
Yep a lot to talk about....

    • @SocialDanceOnline
      @SocialDanceOnline  8 месяцев назад

The box, the leader only needs to make sure their frame is solid.
For the twinkle, the leader doesn't need to change any thing about the lead on the slow, on the tail end of the quick start to move your elbow back and bend your wrist to to open your partner into the promenade position.
For the box and the twinkle the leader should not go into outside partner position.
If you is trying to do a move that goes to outside partner then the leaders frame need to keep their partner in the opposite position.
      I hope this was helpful!

@@SocialDanceOnline which twinkle are you talking about? No lead on slow???
How about progressive back twinkles in two hand hold?
The lead to the promenade is to bring your left side towards the lady... BTW
