    The fact that the two of you have years of experience teaching the Waltz under your belt shows through clearly. I attempted to learn what were supposedly basic Waltz steps some 9 or so years ago and made a mess of it. Your breakdown here though gives me hope that this time I can and will master this graceful dance.

      We linedancers do this all the time. Linedances use lot of same figures as ballroom dancers. We have other names sometimes but essentially the same names, we have only more different figures/ steps then ballroom or latin. We call that kind of box a Rumba box forward or reversed, and yes twinkels, the basic, slide sidewards, turns in 3 seconds. Our waltzes always start with left foot. Coming from linedancing to ballroom is easier than starting linedance from ballroom dancing though, I guess. But than again I do linedance for 30 years. By the way we also do partner / couple dances and linedance in .. latin, waltz, rumba, cha, cha, rock and jive,

    Hello, to start, thank you very much for your videos, I learn a lot from them. On the other hand, if it is not too much to ask, I would like to ask a question. I understand that the waltz is a very broad dance, with many figures, steps, types... My question is, how is the waltz danced? I mean, at an event, if I want to dance with a stranger, how do we agree on the figures and steps? Also, in an opera or a Ball, how do all the people (I think) follow the rhythm with the same choreography? Does anyone know what type of Waltz and what figures to use depending on the music? I hope I have been clear, I appreciate that you read me, I will be waiting for your response.

    • @SocialDanceOnline
      @SocialDanceOnline  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hello,
      That is a great question. In dancing there is lead and follow, and then there is choreographed dancing.
      In lead and follow the leader will lead the follower through what ever patterns they know and can remember during a dance. It is up to the leader to communicate through the lead to their partner what pattern they are doing.
      In an opera or show especially with multiple couples, these dancers would be choreographed. A choreographed dance is where there are a step of patterns pre set and practiced before danced in a show.
      if you have other questions please go to our site www.socialdanceonline.com and email us. 😊

    • @SocialDanceOnline
      @SocialDanceOnline  8 месяцев назад

      When combining steps in any dance you want to make sure you finish a pattern before starting a new one.
      Putting a basic (box or progressive) between other moves will help. For this dance the progressive will help you get around the room. Put in other moves when you feel ready.

    This is almost a great tutorial. It is so easy to follow and replay and you obviously know common missteps and mistakes and warn the viewer of these. I would love to love this, but I was so turned off by the shoe sale comment at the beginning. Ladies can pretend there's a shoe sale over their partner's shoulder? Why would offending half of the class (and probably more than half in actuality) be a good way to begin this video? It really makes 50% of the instructors unlikable from the very beginning. Bad form. I would be embarrassed if I were you.

    • @SocialDanceOnline
      @SocialDanceOnline  Год назад +3

      I'm sorry Aubrey. No offense was meant. I'm sorry if any was taken. When you talk for hours and hours on video to millions of people, there is always the risk of people not liking something. Hopefully people can pull out what is valuable and discard what's not and come out better for it. Best wishes, Brian B
