Bangladesh has a solid identity considering they mostly speak Bengali as their native language plus they're mostly Muslims. I think it's easier to govern such homogeneity. No wonder why it's generally peaceful plus it even has a higher economy than Pakistan. Long live Bangladesh! Love from the Philippines.
Not really, it was the the exploitation of Western Pakistani government and negligence. Do not try to distort history. The 1952 movement itself was very r€t@rd€d, as there had to be a single unifying language for a country of many ethnincities.
@@kalochhaya You failed in history or something? Why was Urdu declared the official language and not Bengali, considering the fact that Bengali speakers outnumbered Urdu speakers by a LOT?
@@Science_Atrium There was a good reason to have a single unifying language for ONE country, and that had to be Urdu. The term "Bengali" only refers to a language, but it is not an ethnicity! People who speak in Bengali, they are Bengali but the term "Bengali" is just a community where people speak in Bengali language, in the Bengali region, there are too many ethnicity who speak in Bengali language. So that means anyone can be a Bengali by speaking in Bengali
Bengali refers to both a language and an ethnic identity. Anyone can speak Bengali and be part of the linguistic community, but being ethnically Bengali involves cultural and historical ties to the Bengal region.
The Bengali language derived from Sanskrit and Magadhi Prakrit. Later influenced by Portuguese, Arabic, Persian, Turkish, English, and French along Hindi and Urdu. The language evolved by centuries. But "ethnicity" related to genetics. Indo Aryan people used to speak in Sanskrit and Prakrit languages. Most Bengali people are Aryans while Dravidians and Austro Asians in minority
I agree. I remember there was a ytuber visiting Bangladesh and he came across a region where people had more East Asian features so he began directly asking people about It. Those people had no Idea what he was talking about. They all gave him a confused look because all they knew was they were Bengali just like any other Bangladeshi or Bengali.
Bengali of Bangladesh needs the Urdu treatment: Purge the imported Sanskrit loanwords from the early 20th century and replace them with the lost native Bengali words, lost Persian words and possibly Arabic words.
