Writer/Producer Sev Ohanian (Searching, Run, Judas and the Black Messiah, Creed III) discusses perusing the shelves of Blockbuster with his father, how he self-financed his first feature, and how he met Ryan Coogler at film school, leading to a successful career making movies. Развлечения
Chris, im a 19 year old wannabe filmmaker, and this podcast really informed me. Not only on the many paths people take to make their first movie, but what a blacklist is and that you should just go and make stuff. I appreciate it, and will be looking forward to more podcasts. See you at the oscars!
That point he brought up from 2004 at the LA Times and the Blog was extremely powerful and so true. I remember watching as newspapers and magazines slowly started to disappear as the internet grew and home computers were more and more relevant. Making his own full length feature with friends and making six figures was mind blowing, in high-school! Great interview in total!
That team of 5 from searching, run and missing are incredible and they are the masters of this genre
Okay now THIS is how to start a podcast!!! Thank you Sev & Chris for this amazing interview! While I won’t be making movies in my future, I am ravenous for the next episode! 🔥🔥🔥
I really needed to hear this at this point in my life. Thank you for making this series, Chris. I can't wait for more episodes.
Sev Ohanian is based just for writing and scripting 2018's Searching. John Cho was great excellent casting, gripping and somewhat innovative process and methods with that 2018 film. Just an overall around great film and thriller and the mystery was tight, the application and online only concept is executed good and well, and only using google and never a camera or irl one. Instead, only utilizing a face cam and specialized stuff especially since the director himself has a tech background and once worked/was employed at Google until either being fired or taking his leave personally. Thank you for this Shelby podcast!
Sev is a great guy. He may be a busy writer/producer but has time to respond on pretty much every social media platform he is on.
Searching needs more attention. Most unexpectedly good movie I've seen in a while. Only Puss in Boots recently got me like that.
Searching profited 74mil. It did quite well! Puss and Boots really got me too omg
Came here form ur missing review this is so inspiring as i have started making films though all Indian content 7 script i have but all will be free in utube
"Stability does not exist in any field. If I was going to risk it all for anything, I might as well take the plunge and try and do film-making." Wow!
It’s dope to see some legitimately accomplished people on this.
What's "this" ? Shelby Oaks or his youtube video?

I really loved what he said about how nothing is ever really stable so he might as well try filmmaking. I’m 24 and I feel like my whole life I’ve talked myself out of pursuing the film industry because of the same old reason - it’s too hard to break into, especially as I live in the Midwest. I’ve been feeling so lost in my career and uninspired with my first salaried job out of college. I just decided to say fuck it and pursue filmmaking, and I feel like I don’t even know where to start. But I’m putting myself out there and trying! If I’m not at least trying to do something that fulfills me creatively and energetically, idk what is the point. I relate so much to growing up making silly movies on cam-corders too, I always did that and video editing. Thanks for this ❤
Awesome to see the podcast launched, looking forward to it man. Thanks!
I can't wait to listen to every episode of this series. Starting off BIG too. I love it
Loved listening to Sev's story! I'm excited to hear all future episodes! Great job, Chris!

Such an amazing interview Chris!! I love a lot of Sev’s work! Searching was phenomenal and I loved Missing! I didn’t know he was a producer on Fruitvale Station. Aneesh is from Redmond, WA very close to where I grew up.

Sev Ohanian is a win for Armenians!

O I have been waiting for this..
Great interview Chris. Keep them up!
Loved the interview
Oh great! Listening to this on spotify sucked. Glad you are putting it on yt too.
This is a great idea for a podcast
Sev Ohanian is a very interesting person and I can relate in a way as someone who wants to be an editor for film.
This episode was a true love-letter to the game. Perfect tone, and remarkable respect to the characters. If they had glossed over what Ellie went through with Riley, it would've been a complete failure in terms of understanding her.
Great new podd!
What a great and insightful conversation. An awesome pilot to this podcast. Could you make the video versions of these podcasts have the zoom footage if thats how you recorded it?
Let the fun begin.
Was wondering what you thought of Missing after I saw it yesterday. This was a very pleasant surprise
LETS GOOOOOO
Dude my mom is Armenian, I got the connections now
I remember Run being a pretty solid thriller. Sarah Paulson playing unhinged well, as usual.
Eh they ripped off the true crime story from the Dee Dee Blanchard case. Boring.
@@twelvepandacubs nah it is a munchausen by proxy syndrome . It is not a syndrome . Story goes in a different direction
@@VARMOT123 "it is a syndrom." "It's not a syndrom." Pick one.
Love this Chris!
OMG REALLY WHERE??
HOW DO I ATTAIN THIS 🎁
Welcome back? Was there another podcast before this one?
Is this podcast available on Google Podcasts?
First! Also, I’m excited already hearing this. I’ll update this comment after.
bro, the moment i read the bottom of the screen i was like "i hope they find him"
Question; I went back and watched all of your reviews of the Jurassic Park movies, from the first one up until Fallen Kingdom. Did you do Dominion?
"Hey guys, welcome back."
Episode 1.
You need to watch “Belle”
Cool
fellow Armenian!
Please televise. Podcast is very 2005.
Chris “Sev Ohioan” Stuckmann
can you do podcast with video please?
Welcome back to episode one?! 😂
I'm actually early for once.
Hey Chris, you may think about starting a separate podcast channel. The RUclips algorithm might not recommend your regular videos as much if these podcast videos don't get as many views.
@The Final Truth thanks for actually speaking truth
Hey Stucky I know this is not the point of the podcast but just an idea for the future. Why don't you bring back Sev one day for a screenwriting 101 thing? Anyone else thinks this would be a good idea?
Yo great fucking content man🥹
Welcome back? 😅
Jesus, this guy is a youtuber, a director producer and now he has a podcast? You're an workaholic Chris...
video?
No, it's a podcast.
He went to film school
Please release the video of this not this audio

lol, "irregardless"
regardless of it being regardless. just like when people say: " The point is, is that...." or "yeah the thing is, is that..." or when people call the exercise "side lateral raises" which is redundant. side means lateral.
Lmao what is that picture chris
This is honestly my favorite horror film this year, it maybe isn’t saying a bunch as it seems to be one of the few that have actually stood out. But this was just a slower year than previous years. I am looking forward to seeing what they do with SCREAM 7 too even if it ends up being Samantha behind the mask. But what I think more than anything is interesting because they questioned his death in this, is the possibility of Stu Macher being the next killer, returning from the original. This to me would mean something because whether Stu is the final killer and he’s alone or Stu is the final killer along with a cult… I think whatever they do, it might be hard to top this. It would be hard because in spite of a total absence of Neve Campbell this is the most Craven a SCREAM film has been since SCREAM 4 and honestly it’s the best SCREAM since SCREAM 2 or even the very first. I would give this a 9.5 out of 10. If it weren’t for the somewhat predictable ending it would be a 10 because of my love of slasher films and this franchise in particular. Yes I get that might seem a tad much to some, but I really think this is the best SCREAM since either the first or the second.
Gotta get josh on the show!
Cringe
This was very cool! Super interesting. Can't wait for more episodes with future guests!
