Here's a day in the life vlog of me preparing for my PhD viva. Re-reading your thesis can be very cringy and a bit much when it comes to spotting mistakes... We mustn't forget that we're only human and we're allowed to make mistakes. Let's squash this idea that a PhD thesis has to be perfect because mine certainly isn't and that's ok!

What kind of content do you make?
I make videos about science, doing a PhD and living with tinnitus and hearing loss, with a little bit of life thrown in too.

I’m Beth, I’m a northern first-gen and final year PhD student.
How old are you?
I’m 27, although I often forget how old I am. I feel about 20 sometimes…
Where are you from?
I’m from North Lincolnshire originally but I’m currently living in Leeds with my partner Zach and our cat, Hendricks.
How long have you had tinnitus & hearing loss?
I’ve had tinnitus in my left ear for over 11 years and subsequent hearing loss for about 9 years.
What are you researching?
I’m studying platelet inhibitory cyclic-AMP signalling in the context of cardiovascular disease. I basically ask for blood donations all the time which makes me feel like a vampire.

Good luck girl. I always find mistakes (in terms of typos) in the dissertations of brilliant scholars so don't feel bad. It's an unfortunate par for the course x
