Great video! Currently in school and needing hours for my practicum, but with COVID we have the option to view videos. Came across yours, and they have been incredibly helpful... thank you!
I know this may be irrelevant to you now, but THANK YOU ASO MUCH for explaining the difference between benchmarks and objectives!!! I've done this for 3 years (obviously NOT trained well) and never had clarity there
This is so helpful! It is my first year as teacher of record for a gen ed classroom and I have several students with IEPs. I have attended IEP meetings in other roles, but this is fantastic for helping me know how to prepare and what to expect. I’m sure my SPED colleagues will also appreciate me having a better idea as we enter the first set of meetings for the year.
For an iep meeting, I’m in middle school, so would all my core class teachers attend the meeting along with my parents and myself? I’m new to this, someone pls tell me
Everyone involved in your case will be there. They will speak about how you’re doing in class and how to better accommodate your needs. Make sure to let your parents know how you feel. You can write a list of strengths and weaknesses for each class as well so your parents can speak for you.
My son does not I repeat DOES NOT have disabilities. Yes he fell behind in school due to the mismanagement and hysterical implementation of virtual schooling during COVID. I would like to know exactly how you educators think to use disability and mentally challenged programs to capable children?
If your son has an IEP, he has been tested by a school psychologist or other professional and those people have determined that he has a learning disability or other condition. If an IEP has been suggested, they are asking for the child to be tested for conditions. Parents have to sign off on IEPs. Teachers do not diagnose, but if they see that a kid has some signs of a problem, they can suggest testing to see if it is a learning condition or not.
The pictures were brought to several of my iep meetings I’m a special Ed student

Carolyn Haines I’m 100% sure I don’t need that meeting, there’s nothing wrong with me....
Thank you!!!! You are a great role model!
Do you have a list , of what a parent can ask for at a IEP meeting?
I do the same, each of my kids has their own data binder, and I use them during SLCs and IEP meetings.
Thank you; so good!
Keep them coming. Love it
