    Writing IEP's can be scary, overwhelming, and quite frustrating! I wish that there had been a comprehensive video when I started. The goal of this video is to outline how to write an effective and measureable IEP for your student.
    Take note, every state and province is different. Writing an IEP in Massachusetts looks different than in Illinois. Ask your mentor, download an example for your state, view your school districts IEPs. Some are written in an IEP online program, some can be written in a word document. Regardless they are legal documents and must be written well.

    Thanks so much I'm a retired home health aide. I say this all the time a IEP is the samething as care plan. Aphasia is expressive and receptive. Strokes, Parkinson's disease, Multiple, head injuries and dementia. And you have to know about growth and development I got no help for my son so thank you so much.

    I loved this video and it was very informational. I am graduating in December and I have had some practice in writing an IEP, but it was hard to understand. Seeing you walk through and explain each portion helped me understand the process of writing an IEP and prepared me more. I also like how you gave a real example IEP because I have always worked off of case studies and they were hard to pull information from since they were not directed towards writing an IEP. Thank you for the video!

      Nathaniel Hall why would you be pissed, most kids in special ed have shown a need or lack in one or more areas or have a diagnosis from birth. You would be pissed that people were helping access education in a way that is specific to you? Special education isn’t a punishment, I’m having a hard time understanding your question.

    As a college student and future SpEd teacher, in your first year as a teacher how do you first assess students and write their IEP's if you do not know them yet? Also, what do you do by the time of the next IEP meeting if said student has not met their projected goals? Thanks.

    • @thatspecialeducator1061
      @thatspecialeducator1061  4 года назад +1

      ruclips.net/video/JLjyh7xniZY/видео.html This video talks about writing goals and touches on the assessment part. You will have to assess based on what you think is best, and write the iep with what you have or what you can gather. When they haven't met their goals you are honest with the team, then write similar goals again without copying anything word for word.
