When I tell you my PS5 sounded like a jet engine downloading discs I am not joking, somehow this weird trick just fixed it. It's as quiet as the day I got her.
I was just about to post a comment that this didn't work but after about 15 seconds the sound completely stopped, no idea how this works and why but I'm happy, thank you!
This works. Mine sounded really loud and I turned the screw till the disc was almost half way out. That turned out to be the sweet spot. Fully out or a quarter etc gave different results but the sweet spot cured it completely. Virtually no sound at all from sounding like it was broken and chewing the disc.
Bro I just bought the new Spider-Man Ps5 bundle and it just started making some loud noises when inserting a disc only not while it’s spinning this only happened right after I installed a ssd so I did this and now it no longer sounds like crap when inserting a disc kinda weird how it just came up outta nowhere
@@jonathanrivera8585I think this is what's happening it's makes loud noice because it's installing 2k23 but I think it will be normal sound once it's installed
It depends on the game... no joke, try it out and change the discs. Some discs are loud and some are quiet. I think it has to do with how it is printed and also the data on the disc.
I have issues with TLOU2. When I looked up why the disc drive was so insanely loud, I saw some others mention that their problem was with TLOU2 as well. You'd honestly think there's a woodchipper in the PS5 eating the disc. My Series X is virtually silent with every disc I've tried. The disc drive on the PS5 seems to have been an afterthought of the initial design and they slapped the absolute cheapest one they could in it. It's probably why the PS5 doesn't even appear like it was designed with a disc drive in mind; because it wasn't.
@@TheSilentCheetah If u have a silent disc, it is not as loud as the PS4 or PS4 Pro. But it really depends. The vibrations are reduced with the stand ( i use it vertically ), but if the disc itself makes the noise, you can´t do anything. Of course they buy the cheapest possible, but with a minimum of quality. Maybe the disc spinning itself is not 100% stable and it wobbles a bit or something like that. And some discs do it more.
It seems the amount of twists changes the noise. Fully or halfway ejecting didn't work. I ejected until it was barely visible though and its a little quieter now. But still noisy. This only happens for ps4 games for me as well
I don't know why my ps5 works the way it does, but it seems that specific ps4 games causes the disk drive to spin rapidly and creat shaking noises that is louder than the ps4 slim I was using before. I figured it out since i switched the disk with a ps5 game such as MLB and it doesn’t make the ps5 disk drive go crazy which could be scratches that makes the game harder to read and make the disk drive work harder to load the game correctly.
Also there is another solution if it doesn’t work. So I’m a tinker and I found the reason why. Sony has three rubber grommets so that doesn’t rub against the metal. Take apart the disc drive and remove the rubber grommets. On the rubber grommets they have grooves to seat on the back plate. Put everything back together. Make sure that rubber grommets are aligned with screw holes. Mind you that have to be over the plate in order it to not vibrate. Though this is a terrible design but I get it why they went this way cheap parts for a tiny machine. Mind you be careful of those tension springs that holds armatures up on the disk drive to set the magnet down. I almost lost mine and it sucks to put back together.
This only seems to happen to me for certain discs. Some work fine, and some sound like a jet engine. But I've heard this isn't good for the disc drive. Is there any truth to this?
Is this 1200 model? because I have this problem on my cfi1200 when installing horizon zero down and it's about 1 minute or less and it's over after this time period
Wait so bro did you screw it until you saw the circle in the disc where your supposed to grab it with your fingers, cause people saying to stop once you see the disc but how tf do I grab it just by the end of it I’m a little lost, if you could help me words could not express my gratitude 🤌🏻
Thank you so much, this makes around 20 decibel lighter noice, so easy if you have the right screwdriver ( you can buy a little set for just 5 euro where these are covered also for controllers etc) Thanks again

does it matter? the sound from the disc drive is on for like a short time when the disc is in and you turn on the system or when your loading into the game

Hey bro just wondering is it safe that you did it 4 month ago ? Did you have any issues in this time period?
Mines that loud brand new and store tells me its normal.

Thanks! This worked wonders for me!
It's not completely gone, but I can now have a desent conversation in the same room!
This worked wonders! My PS5 was making that horrible noise incessantly. Now it goes completely quiet after 30 seconds to a minute. Thank you!

why does manually ejecting the disc help with the noise, what's the reason for this? and can you still use the disc drive like normal after this?
Yes you can use it normal it doesn't matter but he has to screw in the bolt😂

Its due to data density
The ps5 discs can hold more data so the ps5 discs spin slower than ps4 discs which their data is more spread out
This worked man, all I did was screw it till I saw the disc and pulled out and it stopped making the annoying noise.

This reduced the noise during disc reads by quite a bit for me. I only turned until the disk was 1/3 of the way out.
Works wonders !

any solutions?

No it doesn't, anything that involves manually removing discs doesn't. It's in the Manuel.
