@@fasttechvideo thanks for reply 👍
My problem is that the disk drive simply doesn’t work anymore (kind of). So when I take out the disk the button doesn’t work and I have to digitally eject disk and if I want to put in a disk I have to force the disk in fully and then restart my ps5 and again and again. Do you think this video will work for that?
Most likely your eject button is broken. Its part of the front black assembly that hosts the led light bar and USB ports
@@fasttechvideo thank you so much, and if it’s not a lot of trouble, can you tell me how or make a video on how to fix it?
@@randomsupersaiyan7990 ive done a ps5 disassembly video on my channel watch the video specifically the part where I remove that panel

Is there a way to fix the dics getting stuck in the drive myself?
Yes open it up and check the rollers.
Got a disc drive and it worked the disc went in and read the disc but after using it second time the disc won’t go in and I can’t update my system software SU-101312-8 error code. The eject button works.
Sounds like a short on the disc drive logic board but check all the ribbon cables first.
I manage to fix it it takes the disc in but nothing comes up on the screen I can’t eject it from the menu I have to use the eject button meaning it doesn’t read it. The disc drive is new and laser seem to be working
the arm on my ps5 wont go back in its normal position any tips?
Which arm
Ps4? Doesn’t the description say this repair is for a ps5. 4:04
Are you even listening?
My PS5 has stopped reading any Blu-ray or 4K discs but will read DVDs. Is there something you recommend on fixing this?
Replace the laser or the disc drive
@@fasttechvideo is that expensive? How do I go about solving that issue?
@@CSC52698 expensive relative to buying a new one? No. We sell the disc drives and lasers on our site in the description box and top comment.
@@fasttechvideo are YOU able to repair them?
@@CSC52698 yes absolutely. Send us an email at service@fasttech.ca
How far into the steps would you think I need to go to get coins put in the the slit/opening of the drive?
You will have to open the drive
I took my disk drive out my ps5 to remove a stuck CD that wouldn’t come out even though I used the manual disk remover function but it kept on tapping even though I was turning softly. So I opted to taking my disk drive out, removed all ribbons and screws carefully, your disassembly video guided and helped me, great video btw. But when I put it back together the disc would enter no problem but it wouldn’t read and it hummed during the reading/scanning process I’m assuming. when I took it out it also came out fine but it beeped twice signally there wasn’t a disc in there in the first place when their was. If there’s any thing you can give me a tip on please do. I would hate to have to purchase another ps5, if I could repair the one I already have.
Hey brother, running into the same issue. Disk drive makes a rapid clicking sound when I’m trying to eject the disk. Turing the manual release screw doesn’t eject the disk. I haven’t tried taking it apart yet. How’s your situation going?
@@zachrumney841 I ended up having to send mine in to Sony for an out of warranty repair. I wasn’t able to fix the issue even though I took my disk drive apart made sure all the gears were on track along with the system for the disk tray and put it all back together the way it was. It still made the noise even though I got my disk out. And I did not want to try putting a disk back in while it was doing that. How did you purchase your ps5?
@@Hard.To.Find. Hi, I’m having the same issue as you, how much did it cost you to repair the disc drive?
@@timurnasyrov2184 hey man sorry to hear that. PlayStation charged me around 240$ they sent me a box to send it in that got to me in 2 days. And then when I sent it to them I got it back in 3 weeks. No problems since. Definitely worth it especially for an out of warranty repair.
@@Hard.To.Find. thank you! Actually my problem turned out to be not as serious as yours, because when I disassembled the drive (thanks to this video, btw!) and took out the disc and then put it all back together it started working properly again. But while doing so, I've noticed one of the gears cogs was broken. Not sure if that's what caused the disc to get stuck, but this could probably happen again.
i have this ps5 that won't read discs so i changed the laser len , rest the ps and rebuild the database and still won't read an ideas ?
It could be a disc drive logic board issue.
My ps5 reads blue ray dvd as well as ps4 games but my brand new ps5 games don’t read
I’ve put it in safe mode and updated and cleared cache anyone have any ideas?
So my ps5 doesn’t receive any disc or doesn’t make any beep sound when I press the eject button, there’s no disc inside. Any thoughts?
Has the PS5 even been opened up or serviced? Did this happen after an update? Please provide more details.
Yeah I opened it up and cleaned the dust out the battery and when I put it back together the disc drive isn’t operating. I’ve checked to make sure everything was plugged in and it looks like it is
@@Prodzkill Sounds like a bad connection between the disc drive and motherboard. Double check the cables. If they are plugged in correctly you have a disc drive logic board issue.
Okay so is it the cable by the fan cable by any chance
Yes@@Prodzkill

I could do this but then what if I mess up I feel like for me some things not worth doing myself
What do you have to lose if you are out of warranty and the PS5 is broken?
They use the 490 lasers on the ps4 systems.
Yes you are correct. Specifically a 497AAA

Hi! Thanks for your video!
I have a situation that seems impossibile to resolve.
My PS5 can't read discs and as a result of this, I can't update the firmware (error su-101312-8).
I know the source of the problem, the connector of the disc drive ribbon cable in the motherboard is damaged, but I can't find spare connectors for sale, only the ribbon cable. Does the PS4 connector works? I've read that the PS4 has 24 pins, and the PS5 has 25 pins. Is this compatible?
Thanks in advance!
The connector on a ps4 and ps5 is not interchangeable. You can try soldering your cable directly to the board or wait for connectors to become available.
I did all that but when i installed everything it wont turn on, its like completly dead
Check the cables for power supply
2 weeks in and my ps5 dusk drive took a dump. Error code can't recognize disj
Thats unusual. You should still be covered under warranty.
@@fasttechvideo I was surprisingly even though it broke the warranty seal. FYI for anyone reading this. I suggest just mailing it in through sonys warranty work
