Even though I don't own a drone, I still enjoy watching your vids💯

Thank you for your very informative video. I have a Mini Pro 3 and have found that usually when the drone is moving out of the controller's range the drone is beyond line of sight, something our friends at the FAA frown on. Never-the-less, having your controlled suddenly lose control of your drone is a fraught experience, as you mentioned. I recently bought an Air 3 with the RC 2 controller and have found that the controller range is greatly improved. I am now using the Air 3 for flights where there is a risk of the drone losing the controller's signal.

100% agree with you. As long as you do a bit of planning where you want to explore then even when it’s out of sight you have a general idea of where it is.
No question when it loses signal it’s a bit unsettling especially due to the price of the drone itself👍🏼

Loss of signal is not an issue. The drone is set to RTH after like 10 seconds. All depends on your RTH settings if it comes home or not.

Signal has little to do with keeping sight of a drone, especially with new ones with extended range. Many people post stuff that none of us can see the pilot, how does the pilot see a much smaller object like a drone. How you or anyone else flies would be moot if they / didn't post for the world to see. Right?

I don't think you were facing your drone Kevin, because the blue dot of the home point was facing towards the 12 of clock, and the drone was more towards the 9-10 of clock position.
Just an observation, I thought it looked that way.
    Thanks for sharing.

I was waiting for this one, thank you. I live in the windiest area in Vietnam so I hardly ever get to fly. By the way, nice haircut!!

I noticed that for almost the entire flight, the indicator bottom left said you were not facing the drone with the controller. Looked like you were facing 90° right. Is that something that's a false reading, like your mod messed up the compass?

i’ll double check the tape. The past couple of tests I’ve done over the past week and a half or so whenever I directed towards home looking at the map it takes me back to where I am. Maybe I was faced to the angle when I filmed it

As I commented in your first mod Video twisting those Antenna Leads has probably degraded the signal somewhat. Also are they Dual-Band Antennas ? You really should be getting two or three times that distance with external Aerials.
When you have the time get some more WiFi Antennas with shorter leads and do the mod again, make sure they're Dual Band types.

This is why I had to upgrade from the M3P to M4P… The RC-2 controller is so much better. The range and connectivity is greatly improved

    • @kevin-haggerty
      @kevin-haggerty  6 месяцев назад +1

Yeah, from what I’ve seen the range on the M4 Pro and the new RC is noticeably different as far as improving the distance. The main reason why I keep trying to find as many hacks for the M3 pro is it’s so portable and literally can fit anywhere carrying it around.

If someone already own a m3p not worth $900 for the m4p. It's basically the same drone with 360 ao. Who cares about better range. The m3p can go 6 miles in real test. No way you can see it that far. And you do know its the LAW to flying within vlos? Lmao. Yeah all fun and games flying miles out till the ffa comes knocking at your door. People already been fine for flying beyond vlos.

Thats terrible range. Especially when they can boost it with a firmware update.

Why as a107 do you go outside of LOS? Bad to show new pilots a supposed 107 breaks the rules. I understand the test, but it's still beyond LOS.

By law all drone pilots have to be able to see their drone without binoculars. Doesn't matter if you have part 107. But do ppl follow the law? Lmao NO. People are wild animals and will always break the law cause they can. It's like telling someone don't go over the speed limit, don't run a red light or stop sign, don't kill someone, don't steal, don't rape. Etc. People will do it no matter the law. So to think ppl will follow vlos law. That's a laugh. Lmao

@@johnrambo1349 stupid answer. Typical cowboy who does what they want. As a 107, you should be setting a positive message, not I'll do whatever I want. Do most of us break a fully technical view of VLOS. 100%. Don't think the FAA would bust someone flying behind a tree or building and losses sight for 15 seconds. Flying 2 miles downrange is a different story. Then to post your obvious violation sends the wrong message to new pilots who don't know. Be a positive example, not an ass. Simply don't post your flagrant violations to public social media and who will know. Common sense goes a long way.

@user-ug1dn8zy5w I am not suggesting ppl to go breaking the law by flying beyond vlos. I am just saying no one flys within vlos. This doesn't mean they go behind a tree and lose sight. I mean folks out there are flying 10,000 feet to 30,000 with their dji drones. It's a fact. Go look range test and you will see tons of folks flying till bars turns red of battery low before heading back.
