@da11235813 I'm quoting one of my old comments explaining it "When you illusion to edge cancel like that, you just fall off, unless you hold back, then you'll still edge cancel, but be able to do anything. He dashes back so he can dash towards the target so he can gain speed to make the jump that far. Just jumping doesn't go as far sideways as dashing and jumping can." hope that helps.
