I so very much like that Black englobe with the Flux blossom, rose quartz and amaryllis. I very much like the hotter temp look, the purple is fabulous.
Wow! Love all the pieces and what they do at a cone 6! I did buy kimchi and not used it yet! So I hope that I will find a way without pinholes! I do fire at the hot side, hot cone 6 so we will see soon enough! I do hope you also find your way to get the pinholes away!
CONGRATULATIONS! That pink mug with the black engine at the higher temp is just stunning! I’m going to have to try that combo over an entire mug done in the engobes! Beautiful kiln load. Please call spectrum and ask them about the pinholing. I think I told you this before but I fire to a hot cone 6, cone 7 and I don’t have any problems. I do have to keep my glazes higher up on my pieces but I much prefer the drippiness and colors I get at the hotter temp.
Hi Kim. Beautiful unload. I rarely have problems with sangria or kimchi. I use mostly white mid smooth stoneware from tuckers with a slow cool. So frustrating when you can’t get to the bottom of a problem. Congrats on reaching 1000!
Hi Kim, YES! I have to do 2 different firings. One slow cool, one straight cone 6. I was hoping to try the firing you just did. Can you tell me what you did? Do rocket up to cone 6 and then drop 100 degrees for 5 or did you do the first part of the slow cool up to cone 6? All my copper float goes into the cone 6. Thank you!
I had a potter in the studio that told me someone else’s firing schedule and she was off by a bit, so I contacted the potter directly and she said, go up to whatever temperature you are firing to and then drop 100 at 999 degrees /hr and hold for 30min. So I tried that last night, here’s hoping it worked!
@@undsethpottery Thanks or sharing. I am looking forward to seeing the results. That Sangria problem you are having is so weird. I have never had any problems. Mine is in a pint. Anyway, hope this works for you!
Beautiful work! I think you may be right in thinking your blistering could be the clay. I use Plainsman clay - a mixture of 340 & 340s with a bit of 390 thrown onto the mix to warm up the colour and so far haven’t had blisters. Fingers crossed I don’t get any! I also fire a slow cool schedule with a top temp of 2175 - which in my little kiln gives me cone 5.5 according to the cones. Bisque is cone 04 slow fire.
That’s awesome glad you don’t have a problem with the blistering, speckled clay can be bad for that! I love speckled clay but have stayed away from it for that reason!
@@undsethpottery Yes, that's why I mix it, then I just have a bit of speckle. It does make it hard to re-fire anything though, as the speckle makes it tend to bloat over cone 5.
Hi Kim....lots of wonderful pieces. I have not yet tried the Kimchi or Sangria @ cone 6 but willing to try and get back to you...I use Standard clay (here in NJ, as I live only about an hour away from the clay supplier) so I'll give it a try. Congrats - I'm one of the 1000! and I know you will get more and more for sure! again, your pieces and your glaze combos are AWESOME...keep going, cant wait to see more!
Congrats on 1,000 subs Kim! I've been told that for the drop and hold to work, one needs to drop 100 degrees and hold for 30 - 60 minutes to give the blisters time to heal over. That is for if the blisters are being caused by off-gassing. This is per digitalfire articles. Others use the Camille Hoffman slow cool schedule. Personally, I like the results from the hotter temps. They have more depth. But everyone has their own tastes, right? Anyway, great pieces! Thanks for sharing.
From what I know (which is very little), temperature is not the same as heat work. Even though your kiln is set for a certain temperature, it doesn't mean the pottery pieces are getting the proper heat work (too much or too little?) for the glaze to function like you expect. I think that's why you definiitely need a cone pack.
I was wondering why my honey flux is so peachy… thank you! It must be the slow cool. I don’t get blisters though. Does the Baileys Red 2 need a hotter temp and a natural cool or is ok with a slow cool? I think I may give that one ago. I just did a cone 6+ with ancient copper and copper float but everything else was a runny mess.
Hey Kim, I always enjoy watching your videos. I am from Canada as well. Just a quick question. I bought a teapot cookie cutter but it is was too small. Would you mind sharing where you purchased yours, It's a great size
Yes I had that problem as well, so I actually made mine! I bought a cookie cutter kit off of amazon! No it would be so much easier with a 3D printer! I would find a picture of one that you like or draw it and take it someone that does 3D printing! I know our local library will do that for people!

Yes I love the pink and purple’s
Glazing variables can definitely drive you up the wall.
Congratulations on reaching 1K subs
Yes! Thank you!
Congrats on your 1000! Yay!
Thank you so much!!

Yes this is what I did for the current firing, will find out tomorrow if it worked!
@@undsethpottery looking forward to seeing it!
I just started bisqueing to 08 and had zero pinholes! I think this is the trick! 🤞🏼
Congrats on 1 k
Thank you 😊
I had blisters with Sangria on red clay. Added honey flux and Flux Blossom and refired. It was much better.
Yes that does seem to help, you just lose the bright color!
I hear a 1st layer of Honeyflux prevents those issues - not sure of the amount of coats or where I got that from. Random info stuck in my head LOL
Yes that’s what I usually do but it gives you a less vibrate look! I may have to go back to that though!

Yes, I definitely need to get some cones! I used to faithfully use them!

No baileys red 2 is fine at a cone 5 or higher

Try holding for 30 minutes after that drop. I do that and don't get blisters with my Sangria.
Yes that’s what I did in the last firing and it seemed to work!
Have you contacted Spectrum about your problem with Sangria?
No I haven’t but that is a really good idea!
What brand of kiln(s) do you use? Just curious.
Skutt 1027
Hey Kim, Not sure if this has been suggested but I would contact the company. Maybe they have some suggestions for you.
Thank you! Yes I will definitely do that, if I still have problems, I think my laser firing schedule may have solved the issue!
