You explained some things a bit better than their official walkthrough. I was probably going to get it anyway, but YOU officially sold me. I think most of us who are in the market for something like this have really wanted a phrase library with this kind of granular control and you delved into it very well.
Sorry Reuben, I should have replied that your video is top notch as always. Mine just went through arranging... but needed your explanation of the entire software first! I seriously look at your videos as something to aspire to...
Great demo. It certainly came a long way from version 1 and it's great to see some unique features that separates it from other symphonic phrase libraries that have been flooding the market since then. I hope they implement some of the functionality in a future version of The Orchestra.
This is a fantastic video, everything well explained and demonstrated in depth and details, good job - I love how you use Action Strings 2 and play around with the phrases! I have the impression that Action Strings 2 sounds a lot better than AS1 :)
Nice! Yeah, check my tips vids on M+, there’s a few workarounds to get the most out of it (using send fx, and taking off fx on groups and sounds that don’t need it)
Yeah, duplicated the whole thing, and solo’d one and then the other... they need an option to disable instead of just soloing, to decrease the RAM usage...
Great video. You did very well in explaining it. You mentioned that if you are using Komplete Control, you can use the keyboard keys to switch the phrases. I am using a Novation MIDI keyboard and I can play the phrases with it but I can't change the phrases using the keyboard. It seems that the pink keys designated to select the phrases are outside the reach of my keyboard. I tried to change the octaves on my keyboard, but that did not work. Is there a way to make it work with my Novation Keyboard? Mine is a 46 keys. Thanks.
This is great Jeff. Thank you for the video walkthrough. The only feature I wish that was there was fixing the key of the melody so that you can jam on any note and it'll intelligently assign notes within key. That would make using the melody mode even easier right? Can you still play Major/Minor variations for the melodic patterns using velocity? That would sort of work.
Now that would be smart! If you had a run you could start on any note but still have the run confine to the key you are in... like starting a run on an A in the key of D... But would mean a crazy amount more of samples... but I can see that coming!
@@jefgibbons yeah but the thing is NI already have that feature in their other libraries. I think they already have samples for each note. All they need to do is program it in a way that only the samples for the scale selected are triggered 😁
Thank you very much Jef! The way you explain things really shows your difference. Anytime I see a video explained by yourself, I trustfully enter and I think I'm surely going to understand it. And ofc this makes you my first choice if I want to search something. Meantime I would like to ask you a question. Before, you were using led monitors but lastly I see that you have made a Led Tv on your wall. Can you please share your thoughts with us? I have this idea since a very long time but does it work well? Which is the model and did you connect it using HDMI port? As an orchestrator, I mostly work with Notation softwares and with Cubase and do you think it makes a huge difference than monitors? Best regards,
Hi, Jef and thanks for all your excellent tutorials, I have a question, did you experience any problems when you dragged and dropped the midi files from AS 2 like it did not play exactly the same in the daw/track as it does in AS 2, did you adjust the quantizing in some way or the pitch before or after you dragged the content from AS 2, by the way I have this same problem in Sonokinetic's Maximo when dragging and dropping midis hope you understand this?
What are your thoughts on the quality of the string samples? I know they touted in their video that they made all new recordings. I'm not expecting them to be on par with some of the higher quality libraries, but hopefully they are a significant improvement on the first version.
I have bought it and I think the sound is excellent. Not only compared to Action Strings 1, but imho also compared to other high quality libs like Spitfire or Afflatus Strings. With the mic positions + spot mic, it is also very flexible, so I was pleasantly surprised :)
@@scottbenson1535 Thanks for your perspective. I went ahead and got the update. I can't wait to really hear it clearly. I know you can export the midi, but just being able to do everything in the one instance is going to be such a timesaver, especially since the whole instrument is going be a timesaver.
Funny to use then Audio Imperia at the end to replace Action Strings (with a better sound). So, what did you win then? A new type of micro DAW? I also wonder how does it know the scale? I guess, it does not and you must edit the notes along the scale manualy. Looks like a nice toy but can also be done with AI and a DAW - other opinions?
I purchased the upgrade last week. Now the only question is, should I purchase Emotive strings now, or should I wait for the release of Emotive Strings 2? 🤔
Hi Jef, great video. Are you using a mac and if so catalina? I've had trouble with the editor responding to double clicks. Sometimes takes 5 double clicks to change a module.
thats the kind of thinking that will keep you dark. everything we record has been inspired by something already created. its only cheating if you dont have fun. im sure someone picked up a guitar one day and thought "no matter what string I play, it stays in tune.. I feel like im cheating" ha ha.. come on man. make good tunes. you can get in and dirty this thing up in so many ways. split things, butcher things, bend and twist things. pound it out and make beautiful things. create a piece and then just use the deep reverb as a pad. just do something. we live in amazing times. rejoice
Thank you Jeff. Your clear explanations saved me writing a letter of complaint to both Cubase and Native Instruments.

Thanks Jaimy! It is a great library, just be ready to dig in to the complexities of it... definitely next level sampling tech!
Wow... that's like a kick in the guts for me!

@@ReubenCornell I said a BIT better, and that was specifically on things that were important to me, still a great job man!
I never found the original action strings particularly useful, but this is a huge step up.
I agree!
It's amazing ! thanks for all thoses tips ! you lit the light in a dark room !Endless possibilities, I love it !
Thanks Lucy! I rewatched my vid today to catch up on it, it’s a complicated beast!
Controlling the phrase arrangement and ez midi copy. You can do anything with this plug. Beats AS1 by a county mile.
Thanks very much for this clear walk-through- this does seem to be a big step up from the first library.
For sure, thanks Daniel!
Great review! Hopefully there will be Action Strikes 2.

Beautiful demo 👍
This is a tricky instrument and you did such a great job of covering it. Well done.
Excellent demo.
Very cool - thanks for sharing!
Thanks Jef! This is on my list of things to get.
Thank you so useful tutorial, much Love
You are very talented, thanks for an informative vid.
Interesting review, it looks much more usable compared to the (very old) action string 1. Hopefully they will make the emotive string 2 also :)

@@jefgibbons thanks bro! I'll be downloading the information from your tutorials like Neo from The Matrix lol
Amazing, I think it's great
In your sample project, how did you separate out the High and Low Ens? Did you duplicate the entire Kontakt/Action Strings track?
Yeah, duplicated the whole thing, and solo’d one and then the other... they need an option to disable instead of just soloing, to decrease the RAM usage...
Will this be included in the Collectors Edition next year?
awesome!
Your channels is totally underrated. You deserve more subscribers
Thanks Fabian, it’s growing fast!
Shhhh....Jef is our secret.... 😎😁
Good point. Your remark made me check to find out I wasn't subscribed yet! But now I am!
Is there an undo (Ctrl z) option when changing modules within a phrase?

Is it possible to do MIDI Expression with the Behringer BCF2000 for orchestral expressions in Cubase?
Please what VST did you use for the drums?
I see you have the Pod GO, can you use it to record into Maschine and hear effects while playing live (on guitar)? Please explain how if you can!

What computer system and operating system are you using?
Hi Jef, wondering what monitor that is? Easy on the eyes?
I think there’s a link in the description, it’s a Samsung tv, easy on the eyes but hard on the neck!!
Interesting - still not sure I'd feel the music was mine though.
I hear that, but if you start from scratch you could really just compose your own rhythms and notes entirely!

if it costs too much, youre not making money. if youre not making money 30 bucks is too much

It would be amazing if they would add more as time goes on… remind people they own it…
