The bugs are not this bad. The game is not unplayable as people are claiming. I've been playing for 30 plus hours without a single issue or glitch. For me this has been the greatest pokemon game ever made.
The one thing I learned with this game was that the meme that starters turning into anthropomorphic animals transcends not only games but language barrier with Japanese streamers complaining about the cute cat becoming a girl cat.
Finally, species design is being recognized over seas. Pokemon are supposed to be species of creatures, not fursonas you'd struggle to imagine seeing multiple of in the world.
That ending hits the nail on the head. People need to stop preordering games from big publishers! They don't need the money up front and are KNOWN to release games unfinished. Wait until they produce something playable or this is only going to continue getting worse.
They should stop paying for this shit all together, it's been over 10 years that the Pokémon Company has being making shitty ass uncompleted games that look worse than Crash for the PS2. They only care about the money, as long as you pay them they don't give af about the bugs and glitches, and don't make me start talking about the framerate.
I want to agree, yet I bought that game day 2 despite knowing full well that it was bug riddled mess...Though I did buy the single used copy Game Stop had so, ya know, saved 5 bucks. The worst part is that I'm still having a load of fun with the game despite it dropping to 5 fps whenever I enter a city...
@@curnott6051 used games means no additional money for the greedy publisher, so this is a nice way around it I guess. And I agree, the worst part is that the games have so much potential to be great! Done especially often with franchises they know lots of gamers feel very nostalgic about. It's like a hostage situation... But it might be time to let a few hostages die to stop incentivising copycats.
Why is preorder even a thing anymore? You don't have to worry about not getting a copy on release day, since everything is downloadable now. There's no point, unless they're packing something extra with your pre-order (in which case, they still try to screw you over).
The game needed at least another year. People were still playing PLA and BDSP so they weren't desperate for another game. I remember the time the release date was announced, a lot of people collectively went 'uh-oh'. Some of the Pokémon models look amazing, like you can actually see texture on them, instead of the washed out pale solid color of SwSh, and the gameplay is so freaking good, I'm having so much fun but Christ on a bike this runs like crap. This statement gets beaten to death but its true: 'The highest grossing media franchise in the world'. Its true, no excuses. Hopefully the fact that Nintendo is offering refunds, which is completely unprecedented will shake things up a little bit, as its got to be embarrassing right? Wonder how many people wanted to buy the game but decided against it purely because of its optimization.
It’s really a wonder. Back in the 2D days, they could fit an amazing amount of content on super limited hardware - they had coding geniuses on their side. Somehow, that never kept up going into 3D. Their texture work looks like fangames.
@@Fartucus They do put effort though. “They know its gonna sell so they dont put effort” is a bad argument made by people who don’t know how game studios work. The main problems lie with terrible management and incompetent devs, as well as the game not being given enough time to be truly polished.
@@Lockszz I think they mean the meticulous methods you use to have to go to just to even find earlier glitches, which is otherwise unforeseen by the developers. Where as these are in your face and clearly a result of either being rushed, lazy or both. It's one thing to do several steps in a specific order to cause a glitch, it's another to start the game up and be greeted by one.
The ironic thing is, back in the day the programmers missing bugs was a feature. Now it's just a sad reality What worked for 2D doesn't fly in 3D gaming. (Insert additional understandable rant/grievances with production at GameFreak/Pokémon Company here)
Biggest glitch I had was when I was doing a Tera Raid battle. I brought my Gallade to it, and when it started there was another Gallade model just… standing in the middle of the whole thing. It was there for the entire raid, and was even in the animation for throwing a Pokéball somehow. The glitch didn’t stop there, actually. I beat the last Titan I needed to fight that same day, and… well, you guys know how’d they’re just be random Pokeballs on the floor of the cave? Well instead of that it was the Gallade again, just hanging there the entire time, even in the cutscene too! IT REALLY RUINS THE MOMENT WHEN THERES A GALLADE JUST STANDING THERE HUH. Edit: OH WAIT I COMPLETELY FORGOT DURING ONE OF THE SCENES AT THE BEGINNING I SAW THEM T POSING FOR A SPLIT SECOND WHEN IT WAS FADING TO BLACK AND THAT WAS HILAROUS
i just let the day one patch finish before I started to play and the only glitch like thing I've had it some characters walk weird and the sunflora seemed to walk weird during that one gym challenge.
Oh the tera raids.... often when im battling a tera pokemon, if i defeat it in one hit, the game still considers that it has hp left and even gains more like what
I swear, any developer who thinks it's okay to release games like that should have both of their arms decapitated, and even then it won't make the players any happier.
@@JenyaFio I don't think you can blame the developers: they are just underpaid employees doing their job. Blame the executives instead: they are the ones who decided to release the games in this state.
@@eams1234 Yeah, I meant the publishers, they need to remember that game developers are people too. No one deserves to work so much on a video game with harsh treatment from AAA publishers only to end up with the initial release being horribly optimized to the point it doesn't last long enough.
I feel like most of the bugs and issues are in areas the team doesn't have experience in. This was hilarious because it reminded me of the time I was making a driving game like the rc cars on the set tracks and it made me laugh how often the car would just randomly go I will go over here now.
@@WatsonMainApex I actually heard both Nintendo and Monolith did offer to have some members help with at least the open world design and Gamefreak just didnt take them up on the offer. Not sure if it's true or not, but I wouldnt be surprised since the one in charge of managing the development of the games intentionally keeps the team small because he doesnt like/cant manage bigger teams well.
The Pokédex and storage boxes require time to load, unlike every previous game, and are bugged. Not exactly an unexperienced area of the pokemon franchise.
Definitely agree on that. On one hand it’s kinda forgivable because, hey, not every developer knows what’s ideal for every style of game! Experience is an important factor in any game. On the other hand it doesn’t take any deep debate or questioning to look at how poorly the game runs and say “y’know maybe we should try to make it not look like a playable slideshow at times.” And on a third hand that has been unethically grafted to my body it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that loading the entire map at all times might be part of the issue. Which is what’s going on; you can see it pretty much any time you go against a slanted wall or enter battle from a weird position because the clipping reveals everything. Just because it’s a big franchise doesn’t mean pride should come first and all assistance or guidance brushed off. In fact I think that because it’s so big that’s just more reason to get as much help and use as many resources as needed to make the game the best it can be. Not even from an innovation standpoint, I think it’s just fine to go “here’s the concept, how can we make it work and how can we make it an enjoyable experience?” And on a 4th hand someone else kindly donated it is unacceptable for the higher-ups to put so many unfair time constraints and deadlines and expectations on a team that has been intentionally kept small and had help refused when the franchise is so profitable they could straight up use money as toilet paper and still be banking. There’s no excuse to have as many resources as they do and still settle for a rushed, unfinished product just because people will buy it. It’s a disservice to the ones on the team who have real passion and a disservice to the fans who were wanting a quality game like what Gamefreak used to make. For crying out loud there’s a good chance the Elite 4 and Champion themes will just loop the first 4 seconds, the game slows to a crawl during CUTSCENES, and sometimes it will just have an error and crash for no reason. Not to mention all the graphical glitches. These games have some of the best writing the core series has seen in ages. It’s sad that it just gets overshadowed by how unpolished everything else is…
Heh, yeah. I made an rpg style game once, it checked the time and date and had different items in the shops according to what tima and day of the week it was. For some reason, this caused collision detection to stop working on thursdays 9am -12:01 pm

I mean sounds like a fun concept for a fan game where bugs are features and you have to save the game from being bugged beyond anything ever seen. could even add missingno.
I think the biggest issue I ran into was my game crashing twice in one day. I think they were both related to the game trying to load the map. Considering how much I've been messing with the backwards jumps on the legendary, I'm surprised I haven't seen worse!
Talking to actual players it seems what you're seeing is the actual norm. But a lot of people on Twitter posting bug videos because they're funny is creating a far more severe image of the game than is the actual case. There is certainly room for improvement but it's not a cyberpunk2077 fiasco.
@@metazoxan2 I think majority of the trending clips have come from multiplayer and I've had a good laugh watching them but those problems have still happened. I've seen clips of people falling through the map or being pushed out of bounds. The lighting engine is an absolute mess too, with the battle UI seemingly enough to change where the shadows are cast in an area. And I thankfully had autosave on but I don't appreciate my game crashing when I'm just playing it normally. I'm still having fun, as are my friends but we're all very aware of the problems this game has and we're not downplaying it. They should be doing better, it's as simple as that.
@@ArtzyZero yeah agreed we also play multiplayer still the picture it gets is way worse than it actually is and auto safe really helps a lot its a mess but its a fun mess so im fine with it
@@ArtzyZero I've played probably 10-15 hours of the co-op so far, and way too much overall, but haven't come across anything nearly as janky as people are posting (outside of area zero, which is broken as hell for co-op, but most videos I've seen aren't there). Makes me feel like they're intentionally trying to find ways to break it for internet points or something. That said, still 100% needs a fix patch, asap, because even though the only issues I've run into have been minor, there are a LOT of those minor ones, and if those other glitches are legit, and not manipulated files in an emulator (which, they very well might be) then those need to be addressed too. Hope Nintendo sends some of their devs to game freak to help, because the game freak team clearly don't have a handle on it by themselves.
Hold on a second... > A giant franchise that is recognisable across the globe > Contains hundreds of recognisable and nostalgic characters > Contains a stable core formula with mild variations and subversions for each subsequent release to keep things "fresh" > Has a development schedule that's waaay too tight and is notably falling behind in quality as a result > Has a fanbase that will defend it to the death no matter how lackluster the product is and won't accept the excuse that you're "burnt out" or "oversaturated" with it > Basically prints money no matter what Are we sure this isn't just Disney's Marvel franchise but for Videogames???
Like everyone who bought the game before gets a missigNO after the update with a pokedex entry: a mess caused by the beta version, our regards, game freak; or something like that
Yeah, it's GameFreak, don't expect any bug fixes; they're probably too busy working on those DLCs and butchering... err, sorry, I meant "remaking" Black/White
This makes me happy to see after getting my niece a switch and violet for Christmas. As soon as developers knew they could patch things post release, everything went to shit.
The beginning of Xenogears taught me how to deal with this. Just rewrite the Alpha strain and the Omega strain. If that doesn’t work create a fake net. After that disnengage the plugs. After that there’s only 1 option. Blow up the Eldridge and have your descendants deal with it 1000 years into the future.
Others, Uncultured: "Omg the game is so glitchy! It's so bad!" Me, Cultured: "Holy shit these glitches are so god damn funny. I haven't laughed this much in a while. Let's keep playing and having fun."
The kicker is Nintendo is offering refunds for Scarlet & Violet to. They don't just do refunds either- it takes a pretty big mess up for them to be like "Aw shiiiiit..were just gonna give you your money back.."
I think the sad part at the end with the sales shown is that unlike Gen 8, a lot of people were looking forward to Gen 9. With the gameplay shown before release looking similar to Legends Arceus it maintained that reception, that is till the optimisation issues were brought to light but most didn't know since they wanted to avoid spoilers till they bought it or was buying it day 1. I'm glad to hear that outside of the bugs and glitches that it's a fun game, but $60 is asking a lot for a game that should've had bit more time in the oven. I understand graphics isn't everything to a game but this stuff does affect the gameplay. Game freak would've been fine pushing this to next year since Legends Arceus came out and it's weird that they still did the 3 years new gen cycle when it wasn't necessary. If this happened to any other franchise, the general reception would be much harsher. Hopefully some patches come sooner than later cause I do want the game but not a the state it's in.
Why should Nintendo care about quality when their fans don't. They've been selling them the exact same game for years and it's only getting more popular.

@@Diinytro I played the game. I started having problems from the very beginning with the performance, can't even run a cut scene properly. If you wanna know how bad it gets with glitches and falling through the map and shit feel free to look up some videos here on RUclips. People have made glitch compilations it's so bad. Overall the game is just hard to look at, is full of glitches, empty as hell and feels more like a suped up Gameboy advance game than something for the switch. I'm done blindly buying pokemon games, even if I do wanna play it. After the success that was arceus earlier this year, there's no excuse for how awful this game turned out.
One of my friends bought the game and by accident, he somehow got three copies of his legendary. Not trading btw, just cloned them by accident. For me strange, I haven't found any glitches in the game yet, but then again I've only beaten one gym and ancient pokemon while he finished the game.
I legit haven't encountered that many glitches? I understand that others have apparently, but other than the camera being weird if I battle in a weird spot or the low poly models occasionally being seen up close, I haven't seen much? I'm nearly done with the game, too. I keep seeing reports of crashes as well, but I've never gotten one.
I don’t know if I have a godlike Switch or I’m just oblivious because I never had even just ONE glitch or bug in my copy of Violet besides an occasional frame rate drop
Aside from the fact that my character felt like she had a processing disorder where everything that got beyond a certain distance from her started to stutter, the game ran really well for me! Riding around on bike boy was fun and I loved the new pokemon. As someone who hated Sword and Shield, I'm glad I enjoyed BDSP and SV. Its too bad the stuttering was dealbreaking for some, the game was really very well done
Yeah it's buggy and glitchy as heck, Problem is, this is probably one of the best Mainline Pokemon they have made in a while, I really hope future patches fix stability, and DLC adds to a lot of things
I must have gotten lucky af through my first play through because I didn’t see any glitches. Just had crap frame rate at times. EDIT: So it seems this perception that the game is filled to the brim with glitches and issues is all bs. The game runs way worse than it has any right to, especially considering the resources the devs had at their disposal, but it’s not what the Internet wants to say it is. It seems it’s just a case of “New Pokémon game bad” once again. It also seems that many of the people making these criticisms or jokes either haven’t played the game or completed it. Just my observation.
Actually I"ve been glancing at Reddit posts and things and from what I"m seeing the bugs are MUCH lesss frequent than the larger internet would have you believe. Most of the meme posts are from people intentionally prodding the game to produce or replicate bugs rather than bugs that occur during natural gameplay. The main issues I"ve seen that people are encountering naturally are framerate drops due to a memory leak bug which can be solved be closing and reopening the game every couple hours. Other than that other bugs are apparently fairly infrequent unless you are intentionally looking for them (which again is what all those people posting bug videos on twitter are doing. THey didn't accidentally record themselves encountering a hilarious bug)

"oh but its fun if you look past the glitches! oh but it was just because of the crunch time if they had more time it would be amazing! oh well its partially the fault of the hardware!" maybe the highest grossing media company in the world can muster up enough money to hire more people, preferably those who managed to make games like botw and mario odyssey run on the same console without crazy amounts of lag or super immersion breaking pop-in.
The only thing I saw in single player playthroughs was excessive stuttering occasionally and slow rendering for distant objects. It needed more time but games are just in a weird time where they nearly always need immediate patches
I am part of the problem. At the same time it’s genuinely so much fun it’s wild how game design team and optimization team did not interact at any point.
Problem is that there's only time for one of the two because the franchise is so big at this point that, speaking from a corporate perspective, the games only exist to sell the merch. 10 million copies sold in the first week is still _dwarfed_ by the merch sales, which are on an annual release cycle so the games have to follow that same schedule. No delays, period. No matter how catastrophic that particular development cycle may have been. Pokemon is to Nintendo what sports games are to EA.
They rush the games to put out a new one regularly so pokemon games always lack the polish and QA testing that most other big titles get. I would prefer it if they slowed their release schedule but I'm sure they've done the math to show that an extra year of development would be a huge cut into their profits or something.
And their art team too. You have stylized games like Wind Waker, TF2, Borderlands, and more that have a timeless style that holds up 15+ years after release. Then you got Pokemon. Not only does it lack a style beyond ‘3D anime’, but the terrain looks like it was done by a fan with a game making program. Has that ‘repeating textures’ look.
I ran into a single softlock, and I later realized that it was my joycon rail/ connection having issues and not the actual game. I'm almost disappointed that I haven't seen any of the weirder stuff. Of course there's like, frame dips, and some stuttering, but nothing I wouldn't expect from the switch hardware itself. There's a fun note that you can jump up certain steep slopes backwards, but that feels like more of an exploit than a glitch. You're not like, clipping or anything, the startup of the sliding animation just takes too long when you land "facing" downward on certain slopes. It's legitimately a fun time and I can't wait to see how speedrunners route with it. Unfortunately that does mean if it's ever patched out they'll probably need to run the game pre-patch, but it wasn't hit by the latest one at least!
While yes,it’s annoying that the glitches are present in a game made by a multimillion dollar franchise,I do think that people are overreacting a bit. I played through the whole game and in my experience,Didn’t see anything that affected my experience with the game. Yeah it’s frustrating but don’t let that undermine how frickin good this game is
I'll add my experience so far to this pool. The only major thing's I've noticed are some camera glitches and the character's hair falling from their t-pose when the camera angle in a cutscene changes. I think GF is on the right track and are making some good changes, but holy shit, TPC needs to let up and let them have more time to make each game. Especially if GF has as small of a team as I think they do. Surely there's something they could do to keep the fans busy. Except they wont...

If morons are willing to spend 60 dollars on 2 games that are the exact same thing except a roster change then why would they put any effort into it?

It’s really a wonder. Back in the 2D days, they could fit an amazing amount of content on super limited hardware - they had coding geniuses on their side.
Somehow, that never kept up going into 3D. Their texture work looks like fangames.
@@BlueShellshock it's the new gamefreak, the original has only done the first three generations.
@@Fartucus They do put effort though. “They know its gonna sell so they dont put effort” is a bad argument made by people who don’t know how game studios work. The main problems lie with terrible management and incompetent devs, as well as the game not being given enough time to be truly polished.
I miss the days when glitches in pokemon games were unintentional. Like missingno. Those were good times.
Rare candy / master ball duplication + finding any pokemon you want by changing some pokemon's special stat. Good times, good times indeed.
Aren’t all glitches unintentional
@@Lockszz I think they mean the meticulous methods you use to have to go to just to even find earlier glitches, which is otherwise unforeseen by the developers. Where as these are in your face and clearly a result of either being rushed, lazy or both. It's one thing to do several steps in a specific order to cause a glitch, it's another to start the game up and be greeted by one.
@@FHBStudio heh heh you are old
The ironic thing is, back in the day the programmers missing bugs was a feature. Now it's just a sad reality
What worked for 2D doesn't fly in 3D gaming.
What kind of switch do you have? Idk i find it weird that the only bug i had was the pokeball in the middle of the stage.

@@JP_Crimson okay the glitches are not that bad most glitches and all i’ve experienced were visual and nothing more

Yeah I feel that Nintendo should have asked Monolithsoft to help or tell the pokemon company to get monlithsoft to help like they did with Botw
Not even from an innovation standpoint, I think it’s just fine to go “here’s the concept, how can we make it work and how can we make it an enjoyable experience?”
And on a 4th hand someone else kindly donated it is unacceptable for the higher-ups to put so many unfair time constraints and deadlines and expectations on a team that has been intentionally kept small and had help refused when the franchise is so profitable they could straight up use money as toilet paper and still be banking.

@@ArtzyZero yeah agreed we also play multiplayer still the picture it gets is way worse than it actually is and auto safe really helps a lot its a mess but its a fun mess so im fine with it
I haven't even had one crash yet. Lol

> Has a fanbase that will defend it to the death no matter how lackluster the product is and won't accept the excuse that you're "burnt out" or "oversaturated" with it

Ngl, having my avatars head spin round like an owls only increased the entertainment value for me
I think the sad part at the end with the sales shown is that unlike Gen 8, a lot of people were looking forward to Gen 9.
Gen 9 is a tragedy.

Same. 0 glitches, all the framedrops
I had the same experience with cyberpunk 2077 pretty much zero glitches what so ever.
Same zero glitches but extremly bad frame rate but hey still thought it was fun to play

Ṉ3MŒŊÆ, The Gliched Trainer 0:34
I am part of the problem. At the same time it’s genuinely so much fun it’s wild how game design team and optimization team did not interact at any point.
Problem is that there's only time for one of the two because the franchise is so big at this point that, speaking from a corporate perspective, the games only exist to sell the merch. 10 million copies sold in the first week is still _dwarfed_ by the merch sales, which are on an annual release cycle so the games have to follow that same schedule. No delays, period. No matter how catastrophic that particular development cycle may have been.
Pokemon is to Nintendo what sports games are to EA.
Bold of you to assume they had an optimization team
They rush the games to put out a new one regularly so pokemon games always lack the polish and QA testing that most other big titles get. I would prefer it if they slowed their release schedule but I'm sure they've done the math to show that an extra year of development would be a huge cut into their profits or something.
please ask for a refund, a lot of people is already doing it. if you love the franchise and want it to be the very best, don't support this scams
I think the glitches are caused by the paradox pokemon bending reality in the paldea region 🤣
I didn't run into many glitches (thankfully), and the stories were pretty good.
Same! Which version did you get? Maybe it's just Scarlet who's having the trouble?
@@sweetcherry7759 I own Scarlet, and the only glitch I ran into was when I got out of battle it glitched me into a wall and sent me to the backrooms.
@@yohannumali9208 thankfully have experienced no glitches 😮💨
@@Kevmane_the_bird hell yeah my dude at least that’s good :,))
Nintendo finally became like any other AAA company.
This video unironically convinced me to buy the game
Don't give GF a pass. They own the same amount of shares as TPC and Nintendo. They're also the ones refusing to hire more staff.
@@Kekira you do realize the game Devs are not in charge of release dates right. the higher ups always need that merchandise ,for the pokemon anime, pokrmon trading card, and new gen merch. if the higher ups in the company say they need to follow a release schedule for said new gen merchandise the game Devs can not say no since new gen Pokémon ties in more on the Pokémon anime, Pokémon trading card game and other new gen merch.Game Devs in a massive company like pokemon Company have zero say when to release said games since the higher ups have plan release based on merch, anime, and trading card tie-ins.the reason why games like xenoblade chronicles and the legend of zelda can push back release dates is because there are no merchandise tie-in to those games.Video games like xenoblade chronicles, the legned of zelda are made to be pure video games with no merch based tie-in's that's why those devs on those games can take their sweet time on xenoblade and zelda but Game Freak Suck at making 3D pokemon with out bugs in mix. pokemon is a whole franchise not just a video game. once some thing that has become a franchise the people who make those games have to comply with said higher ups since you know mech sales are part of Pokémon company's district that includes the Pokémon anime, Pokémon trading card game and new gen pokemon anime.if merchandising is a thing in company then group who decides when the product release's is responsible.Game freaks sucks at making 3d pokemon games since they made 2d games for about 13 years even legends of arcues was not that pretty to look at.scarlet and vilote are fun though better than sword and shield. pokemon scarlets world is bigger than legends of Arceus.they need to hire pokemon fan Boy debugging team for Future 3D Pokémon.inmage if Game Freak paying Pokémon fans to find bugs before the release date 1 year before release that would fix a crap ton of problems.
@@1BadAssArchAngelvs14 GameFreak is not owned by Nintendo and has equal shares in the franchise. They have equal say in decisions, even more so than the other first- party studios. Stop giving them a pass. They have control of the games and if they wanted to, could use their profits to hire and have access to a larger team. They could stop lying and hiding content behind pay walls. They could stop providing misleading ads. They could also stop removing features fans like by the time the next game launched. They are just as culpable in all of this and should not be given ANOTHER free pass.
@@Kekira You do realize that the cycle of a game depends on if the devs are a singualr force right? the reasons why cyberpunk devs were forced to release their game in a bad state is becuse their higher ups told them to.even the Devs of cyberpunk wanted to extend the release date of their game but the higher ups said no.if you were as smart as you say you are you would of relized game devs that work for a frachchized company can not say any thing about a release date if the franchise is relaesing merch with every new game that comes out.this is not a Game Freak problem this is Franchise based problem look what happend at the cyberpunk dev team if you know what was happening behind the scenes.
@@Kekira If pokemon franchise was just focused on makeing games and zero merch involved yeah Game Freak would be able to push release dates towards 5 years but since the pokemon franchis's merch sales grant them so much money.the people in charge of merchandising a new gen product like, pokemon dolls, pokemon cards ext, have to vocate a release form date, and sales bureou to get vertified for said product if said product of that gen is not out yet.i am not talking about the games if you look at the busness side of pokemon the game devs have zero say in other products thats not the pokemon video games.its not the removing featurs thats the issue here its 6 new pokemon games evey year thats causing release fatiuge.besides i do not mind if pokemon game does not have transfermation mechsnics.
They were just trying to fit the theme of the final boss. So clever, Game Freak!
I actually love the game. The glitches are more entertaining than annoying as well
