Nice video. I too bought the 13” M4 IPad Pro and sold off my MacBook Air because I felt the iPad does everything I need it to. MS Office, editing photos, and watching movies on the great OLED screen while traveling make it one of the most versatile tools I own.
I use my iMac at the work office and rely solely on my iPad Pro (M4) for all work and leisure activities. My work involves academic research, which heavily relies on statistics and spreadsheets, and I have never encountered any issues with my iPad’s performance.
@ Typically, I’d agree as we have tons of entry-level iPad tablets in our department but they don’t meet the processor requirements to run the stats apps I use weekly. That’s a pretty good testament to the fact that the entry-level iPad can do so much!
Anyone who says an iPad can replace a computer is either lying to you or doesn’t know what they are talking about. Anyone who says you should upgrade from an M2 iPad because of the “better browsing experience” on the m4 is either lying to you or has no concept of the value of money.
🤣 easy bro easy! It’s not for everyone. But I’ve been really happy with it. And yes…it’s replaced my computer just fine. Worked on a Mac for 13 years. It’s gone. Check out my other content on how that’s working for me!
@@Techdad650 Dear Dad, I just subscribed because I watched those m4 iPad Pro videos. You had regrets and advised: - if someone wants to use Final Cut, get the 16GB and at least 1TB storage. - for general use, maybe not worth price unless move is from older iPads (which?). Compared to those previous comments and after watching this video, I'm a bit surprised. All I could think is that you had gone back and gotten the higher capacity build of M4 iPad Pro. I am hoping you will follow up with a response that explains.
As much as I love my iPad Pro M4 which I bought after selling my iPad Mini, I kinda miss the iPad Mini…so now I’m thinking about selling it and then buying the new iPad Mini. I really miss the size of the mini and it was powerful enough for my needs. That said, none of these iPads are going to replace an actual computer.
I just discovered your channel and I'm digging it! The M4 is the best edition of the iPad and I've had one since the original. For a lot of tasks I actually prefer iPadOS. Good job, you touched on all the key points! Cheers.
I have had the M4 iPad Pro pretty much since it came out. I like it for some of the music that I produce. Still, I used my M1 iMac most of the time. I do a lot of photo stuff. Then about a month ago, the screen on my M1 developed a problem. I have been using my iPad since then. I have the keyboard and all that. It has been a really good experience. Still, I am going to buy the M4 iMac as soon as I can.
I’ve never heard something so nonsensical. As long as the 2018 iPad Pro continues to receive updates, it’s more than sufficient for most people. The majority of apps and games in the App Store don’t demand high processing power, and for tasks like office work, web browsing, or occasional movie watching, this device is absolutely enough. The only exception might be for those doing intensive video editing, where a newer model could make more sense. On top of that, I don’t know anyone who connects an external monitor to an iPad. For most users, the iPad’s built-in display meets all their needs, even for work or productivity on the go. The external monitor feature remains a rarely used option for many. use your old devices while they still work and spend your money on useful things
Oof tough feedback here. I suppose I recommend it because I do use it at a pro level. I do edit video and use it as my computer, so connecting to an external display is awesome for me. It’s not for everyone though. Well anyway, thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate both sides of feedback!
I have the M1 iPad Pro 11 which was a gift from my daughter and niece a few years ago. I love it. I don't know if I want to trade it in. I want to get the 13 inch iPad Air or iPad Pro depending on how I feel about it. I will have to go to the store and check out the iPad sizes and decided which one will be comfortable for me. 13 inch size is very tempting for me due having space to draw and play around with the digital art. Do you really think it is worth the upgrade? Might just keep the gifted one and just purchase a new one. What do you think?
Hmm if it were me, I’d trade in the M1 for the M4. This will save you some money on the upgrade. I also love the 13inch size. the OLED screen is amazing. So you’ll be getting a really sharp screen, a camera on landscape which is really nice, and a much faster processor. The newest iPad Pro also has the best keyboards in my opinion. Good luck in this decision!
Subbed! More ipad content please! Like you, they’re a lot of us that have been using it as our only computer, for video editing & running a youtube channel, thumbnail design for youtube, 3D modelling, Animation, Sketching/drawing/painting, T-shirt design, gaming, internet, email, reading, and much more and loving it. Except youre a 3D animator, then sure, you do NEED a PC/laptop, other than that, the M4 iPad Pro is more than capable for your needs, all the while having the best display on the market!
I’m so glad you are enjoying the iPad content! I’m a huge fan of the device. And thank you for the content suggestions as well. I’ll see if I can get to work on some of these! Thank you for watching and subscribing!
So i use the standard glass with the 256GB of storage. I should have gotten the larger storage, but I’ve heard the nano texture glass isn’t that great; probably not worth the money. For connectivity options, do you mean like a hub? I use a hub at work that provides connectivity to my monitor, as well as usb hubs for charging my phone, AirPods, etc. works great! thanks for watching!
@@Techdad650 By connectivity, I meant WiFi only or WiFi and Cellular. Whichever one you picked, are you happy with that choice? Also, what would have been a better storage option? Thanks
@@Techdad650 just to prove my point, I haven’t touched my MacBook Air M2 since I bought the 13” iPad Pro. You just have to give the iOS a chance, in order to adjust your work style.

Apple is completely stupid making good cameras on the back of the ipad when majority of the people never use those cameras, selfies and video chat is what most people do on a ipad it is not an Iphone. Just imagine how much cheaper the ipad pro would be if they just put a single regular camera on the back. Use your head Apple.
So my work provided this one and it works very well. If it’s in your budget, I’d go for it. you may be able to find something cheaper though. www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-dock-wd19s-130w/apd/210-azbg/docks?tfcid=91049735&dgc=opl&srsltid=AfmBOoo4HAp0lsB5RhhR_nrJraOvOb81GVZdbzOfYxqOqqe8YCGA2PGdc44
If in budget, check out Satechi and Caldigit. Ask yourself what do you want the dock/hub for? Do you have wired devices you want to use. Maybe you only want to connect USBC devices like mice, keyboards or optical drives? Which interface does your monitor use? Do you need a powered dock/hub or maybe thumb drive or camera cards? know first if your external device can be seen across the dock/hub? Do you want to sometimes want to use the dock/hub only with your iPad? For longterm capability, avoid any thunderbolt less than thunderbolt 4. Cables should meet standards too. Make sure your dock/hub dedicates needed power level by your iPad or whatever computer you use. Above all, don't rush to buy.
. Bought Thunderbolt Pro (2024 version, Thunderbolt 4, HDMI or USBC display) at Apple Store. Used with my all my iPads or M1 Mac mini. Pricing this year almost identical online around $300. ps i did splurge because i can use it with iPads, chromebook and M1 mac mini. If your computer etc does not support 2 external monitors, no dock/ hub will make it so.
I'm going to disagree. If you own an M-series iPad, there’s hardly any compelling reason to upgrade to the M4. Here’s why. Apple’s silicon on iPad is severely limited by iPadOS. Nothing in iPadOS is capable of challenging Apple’s M chips. Of course, if you have the financial means during a lull in your budget, go ahead and upgrade. Or you really want that OLED screen.
