If all your using the Apple Pencil for is writting math equaltions I would have gotten the Apple Pencil USB-C version for $69. You can even use it while charging it.

Those cases with the smooth plastic back can just slide off of cushions, let alone smooth surfaces like table tops. You really need to keep a close eye on that. I had one on my iPad Pro M4 and it nearly hit the floor. There are other cases that have as much friction as the Apple folio case for a lot less money.

It’s great, I use it as a media display for my car, I dock right above the car’s original display with a MagSafe car holder, I tend to gravitate towards it more than my phone when I’m idle or stationary making a lot of calls and text on it so that I don’t have to interrupt what I’m doing to reach my phone.. I have small carrying bag for it , in which it fits snugly so it goes wherever I go. I edit and send word documents, manage a lot of business stuff on it through notes. I trade stocks, research, and look at a lot of RUclips on it. But my favorite thing to do is game on it.. I’ve previously journaled on my mini 6 however I find my iPad Pro’s bigger display is much better to journal on.. All and all the iPad mini is like my second phone. I do a lot of my activies on it only using my phone only when I really need to. Also I’d like to note I have a galaxy zfold 6 and a lot of the things I do with the iPad mini are things Ive done easier with the zfold but the realization of needing one os to have everything centralized has forced me to use the iPad mini the way that I do however I’m not complaining but had it not have been for the ecosystem and incompatibility of android and iOS I’d definitely stick with Samsung

College math / statistics professor here. Agree that the Mini is good for college students. If I were a college student, I would absolutely use it. And I enjoy using it in my teaching AND for personal use. 😉

My 16 y/o granddaughter is studying CG graphic art and Japanese Anime, she uses the 13” M2 iPadPro and Apple Pencil 2 as her canvas. For this reason the iPad I think is truly a Pro Device, even the standard of its type. I use my new M4 iPad Pro as my do it all travel companion, but at work I still use my MacBook Air

I’m gonna nab an iPad mini 7 on Black Friday to replace my aging iPad mini 5. My 2018 iPad Pro is still my main content creation device and still going strong. I will probably finally update that whenever the M5 iPad Pros come out.

Im really struggling to decide between pro and air because of that display. If it werent oled and 120 hz I wouldn’t be thinking it that much. Is it that noticeable when writing/ drawing?

Couldn’t agree more about the Files app. I really can’t understand the hate it gets and the “it needs Mac OS to be fully usable” comments. I use the Files app the same way you do and I don’t understand what it lacks that people are wanting.

I got the iPad mini 7 and I love it! I watch content on it and teach with it. I even use it as a second screen for my MacBook. The mini 7 fixed almost every problems I had with the mini 6.

The iPad Air M2 just dropped $100 to 499 Best Buy, Amazon and target.

I use my m4 pro same like you do for my work. Finally, some content with someone who know the power of an iPad. Most of the people see the iPad just as a consumer device to watch videos or play. I did the same thing! I just picked up a Samsung 32” 4k HDR monitor for my M1 iPad Pro. I was going to pick up a Mac Mini, but decided to see how the iPad OS is in a desktop setup. I have LOVE IT! For casual home use, it’s great. I already hade a nice Logitech mouse and keyboard . Now I find myself enjoying media or web surfing so much more. I even connected my Creative Pebble speakers to my iPad Pro via Bluetooth. So the iPad Pro is connected to the Bluetooth keyboard, mouse and speakers while being plugged into a 4k HDR monitor and an external hard drive. It’s like having 3 devices in one, a tablet, a small 13” laptop, and a desktop. I love it! - The only thing to consider before making the jump is what apps you use on a regular basis. How do those apps behave on iPad OS. But the same question should applies in any purchase. For the majority of people out there who use their iPhone as their primary computing device, and haven’t opened that old Dell laptop in years. Adding an iPad setup to the mix can really be an enjoyable experience.

So I just bought the new M4 iPad Pro 13”, and even though I love it and use it daily, the iPad Pro can’t replace my main computer as it is a PC gaming computer that plays AAA titles purchased from the Steam and Epic stores. The iPad Pro is not capable or designed for these types of high end computer games so it can’t replace my computer.

I’ve been using it as my daily for sometime now and I love it.

The calculator analogy is a great way to explain that! I always tell people leveraging AI is like when the internet became available to everyone. Those who take advantage of it and make use of it will get ahead.

I noticed that you didn't mention Freeform. Do you use it at all?

It’s not only the iPad Pro or air for display. Stage Manager requires a M series, the other iPads can’t run stage manager. But even the Mini can connect to an external display. Just doesnt look good.

Sounds great in principle I was hoping to do the same but both sheets and excel don’t cut it on iPad they are heavily cutback of the features I use especially excel which is a real shame as the iPad is an awesome experience. I also code and you can do bits on iPad but we could do with some software upgrades which is not entirely apples fault

My biggest gripe is not Apple based, it’s app creators. A lot of times what I’m used to doing on my MacBook, I can’t do on the iPad like Excel Macros. Google Workspace for my job is not the best with their apps but using it in a web browser is a work around. I think the app creators will eventually catch up and then this will good from good to great for professionals.

As a iPad Pro only user that does graphic work daily I strongly suggest… Canva!

Two things, Have you considered picking up a Mac Mini? They’re priced pretty well, and would allow you to do some of the desktop things you wanna do, but since it requires a monitor, you’ll still likely use your iPad very often. I’m leaning towards doing this personally. Also, for Thumbnails, I recommend Canva. I’ve used it extensively for my thumbnails and I’ve found that their options are a lot better than what Adobe Express offered.

I’m still amazed by the battery life. I just came from the 13 pro so that’s not saying much. I work outside so my phone is max brightness most of the time. I also edit on my phone sometimes. The fact that this iPhone 16 Pro not even the max last me the entire day is wild to me

So, there are 3rd party apps,such as GeForce now, that allow you to stream PC games AND any Xbox game pass games you have that are supported on the website. It’s an extra subscription but it’s worth it

I came from the 13 Pro Max, which was the best iPhone I’ve ever had. So far, the 16 Pro Max has been very disappointing. I’ve had to reboot this phone more times in the two months I’ve had it then I had to do in the three years, I owned the 13. Apps will freeze, and they won’t reset unless you reboot the phone. The camera button sucks ass when you try to light press it to adjust. It doesn’t always adjust the settings, and then it just takes a picture. It’s awful. Unless this experience improves, it’s going to be a one year phone just like my 12 was which was a terrible phone.

How much battery health?

Microsoft 365 apps, while mobile versions, are severely limited, forcing me to revert to the Mac. Google apps, on the other hand, are ridiculously restricted, with Safari as the sole browser option on iPad. iWork apps stand out as some of the few productivity apps that rival desktop versions. I don’t think it’s the best phone, maybe the best iphone, but iPhone 13PM was better than 15/16PM , screen lag , app crashes. S24 Ultra beats all day errrday, Pixel 9P XL seems better (only battery bit does it fall short) crazy how retarded and brainwashed people have become.
