    That's a thing! I'm using just my smartphone with AllTrails app, since I like to track my hikes, and gather all my completed trails, and data on my profile. But GPS tracking in phone can really drain yours battery, so not practical on multi-day hikes, even with powerbank you don't know if you could have a chance to recharge it later on. Fortunately tracking on well marked trails is might say useless, but only checking map from time to time :) And of course, pulling phone from pocket every time, unlocking it - so slow, and annoying.. Well, seems like that kind of watch is a great solution!
    I want to say that I noticed better audio and video quality since last videos :) Did you changed camera?

      I totally agree to your experience since trying to use the phone myself the last couple of years. With the watch there is no need to use the phone and the battery is good for 6 days with gps and tracking ON so now I only use the phone to take pictures.
      And yes, changed camera to a Canon M6 Mark II and I’m glad you noticed a difference 🙂👍🏻

      Hi, Well. It has a built in weather/storm warning system but no weather forecast unfortunately.

    Great review, thanks a lot for this info! Sounds like a good deal, I might actually wear a watch for the first time in 20 years now. I too have been using the phone for tracking but that sure isn't practical. I also find it curious how the phone's gps drains the battery so fast when a small device like a watch can last so long... 🤔

      Thanks 🙂 and yea, regarding the battery it makes me wonder as well how things work 🤔 but not going to dig into that 🤷🏼‍♂️ just enjoy the long battery life of the watch instead 😄

    I'm curious ... if you use it for tracking a hike - does it generate a gpx file? I've been using MapMyWalk app for tracking - but it likes to glitch which throws my tracked mileage/elevation gain/loss off. But the app generates a gpx file which I use to create a 3D map of my route to add to my hiking videos. So, I was looking for a watch that isn't glitchy (I had invested in a Suunto which had failed after 1 year and the customer service was non-existent) and is dependable and generates the file I need. Interested to also know, how it's done in the last year since this video - any thing you'd change/want, issues, etc.

      Sorry for not getting back to you sooner! Missed this comment to be honest… but yea, you can export and share any route you have on your watch to a lot of different formates and gpx is one of them. (Fit, tcx, kml, csv)
      The watch has performed 100%, but I have switched to the updated version 2 Pro. Both are a good and solid choice and easy to work with and the 2 Pro has amazing battery life! Always use it on my hikes for directions and love it! It also measures so many other things like Recovery that gives you your current energy level! On my last hike I was down to 15% 😄 don’t know why but it was right… needed food and sleep!!
      I can nothing but recommend it… it’s a buy in my book!
      Good luck 🤞🏻

    No, just no. I just want a simple mechanical watch, sturdily built, with lots of little wheels inside being turned around by Swiss men in white coats. The way God intended.

    Thanks for the review 👍
    I would like to know if measurements of the distance is accurate on this watch? And did you compare distance measurement with GPS and map's application on your phone for example? Thanks!

    • @roberthammenrudh
      @roberthammenrudh  2 года назад +1

      Thanks and good question as well. The answer is no, did not compare the numbers with my phone or old watch but, have read, viewed a lot of reviews before the purchase saying coros GPS accuracy is great and in line or better than competition. But, I have friends using Garmin and other so for next hike I will for sure compare and see what the differences are and maybe come back with an update on a short or something 🙂

    Hi Robert, thanks for the nice review. It is very complete but I would like to ask you a further detail: while navigating a track you have created with waypoints, is it possible to view the missing distance, the remaining time and above all the remaining positive altitude until the next waypoint? Thank you

    • @roberthammenrudh
      @roberthammenrudh  2 года назад +1

      Thanks 🙏🏻 and good questions, I am sure you can see the remaining distance but not the remaining time. Depends on your pace so it doesn’t estimate that. Thenit also shows the elevation gained…and probably you can enter to get more detail about the elevation to come but something I have never tried.

    2 main features that I want from a hiking watch are a big battery, and an app on the phone that allows synchronisation without internet access, no idea if that's possible with this watch, so many use cloud based apps that make them a bit rubbish in the wilderness.

    • @roberthammenrudh
      @roberthammenrudh  2 года назад +5

      Yea well, the phone/app and watch sync together via Bluetooth so I believe that to work even with no internet connection. I had no problem with that and on the second night on my latest hike I had no connection so 👍🏻 if you synced your watch with the routs and everything you will get the info you need, no matter connection or not.

    • @roberthammenrudh

      Well yep, receiving text is ok and it also vibrates so you will not miss it.
      But you can’t control the music unfortunately, for me that’s not a problem but if listening to much music that might be a dealbreaker.
