    Using this old board to create something that will help you print is sound amazing. So like you took old part from printer, made a custom printed case for it, coded some logic so this board still helps printing! Sounds just awesome :)

      This is basically all you're doing when you flash a board with Marlin or Klipper. You use PlatformIO to compile & link C down to a firmware image, drop it on an SD card and then it gets flashed onto the board.

      @@zviki68 I meant when the series continues 😂

    • @FilamentFriday
      @FilamentFriday  11 месяцев назад +4

      @zviki68 - Showing how to turn an LED on/off is showing how to control a digital output. The stepper drivers are controlled by an on/off signal for direction (LED on/off), and a pulse train to move (the same pulse train that blinks the LED). Turning on the fan, or hotend, or anything connected to an output on the board takes the same logic as controlling an LED. So I showed you how to basically control almost anything on the board but all you saw was an LED blinking. So it was not a waste of electronics or time. In fact it should recover some waste from the pile of Ender 3 electronics boards just lying around. But more than anybody who asked for more videos you’ve clarified that I need to go deeper and show the next steps for those that only saw an LED blink. Thanks.

    • @zviki68
      @zviki68 11 месяцев назад

      @@FilamentFriday Yes, because Arduino mini or micro is better solution for that kind of things (for blinking led). Old Ender motherboard is better for projects with stepper motor or two, with some rails, for simple cnc or laser engraver, etc... There are steper motors in old cd/dvd drives, old floppy disks...
      BTW, pwm (pulse width modulation) signal is a little more than just off and on. The length of the signal is very important.

    • @mikecrane2782
      @mikecrane2782 11 месяцев назад

      @@zviki68 I have these boards too and ESP32 and have my own projects, but as this develops I think it will be useful for other folks as they can repurpose old boards to do new and better things. Yes I know blinking a LED and reacting to a switch digital is a small beer thing, but folks that have these boards might not be attuned as you to the Nano & Micro ecosystem, so it’ll be useful for them either way for no real expense on their part. Later who knows they’ll be dropping on PCBWay with custom boards after a learning curve. 😉

      Nice work. I have the LCD working now. I share it on my CHEPCLUB.com site for Silver Patreon supporters. I may make a video on it in the future.

      I’m not sure. I don’t think they are open source.

    I'm still running the 8-bit board. Should I replace it? If so, what with?

      I think you should sace your money for a whole new printer and if you want to later on you can staet to play with changing Boards.
      I mean this as a suggestion not that you have to do this.
      I think they did a replacement board im not 100% sure I do know Bigtreetect has one that I use and I think other brands did to

    Hi Chuck, I know Creality stepper motors are wired differently to standard NEMA 17's, I have it in my head that reversing wires 1 and 3 is used to reverse the extruder motor, however, I can t remember if this is for a Standard or a Creality extruder motor.
    I have a stock Ender 5 Plus that I am fitting a BMG clone to and I need to reverse the motion, can you confirm which number wires and if possible the colours of the wires that need to be swapped around to achieve this?

      @deathcube2006 11 месяцев назад +1

      Afaik you need to reverse the interior cablea, meaning 2 and 3. But you can also recompile the firmware with the direction reversed

      @AndrewAHayes 11 месяцев назад

      @@deathcube2006 Yeah I wanted to avoid having to mess with Marlin, I would have thought swapping the wires on the motor plug would be the exact same thing

      @3D_Printing_Lab1 - The 4.2.2 board is a 32 bit board not 8-bit board. It needs a different setup than what I showed.
