$600 and no installation included. my nails cannot take that but I really like it. Thank you for taking the time to show us because I know that was not easy while holding a camera
Nice instructional video, but too expensive for me, plus all the installation work required. You can get a fixed sunshade for around $50, or a manual retractable for under $200. But that's me. in one car I owned, I had a powered sunroof and manual sunshade that I kept closed all the time. This one, I might open it up in the winter unless it gets super cold, and close it in the summer so a powered sunshade is a waste of money.
Yeah, the powered sunshade is nice, but not the cheapest solution and it requires some DIY skills. Manual sunshades do a good job as well for a fraction of the cost.
I installed this by myself. It was a real bitch to push the front into place then line up the brackets with the screw holes then get the screw started. Especially since the screws did not work with a magnetic screwdriver. I ended up taping the screw to the screwdriver with masking tape. Also used some of the packing foam stuffed between the front seat head rests and the sunshade to hold the front up while i lined up the screws. Last issue was the edge of the headliner at the rear hatch would not snap up all the way or maybe i bent it? I clamped it for a few days to get it to stay up and be covered by the weather stripping. All and all i am pleased with the product. Now after your video wonder if I should re do it and run the wire above the insulation as you did. Will need to think about this.
@@stephenmiller6690 thanks for watching and I can sympathize with all of the frustrations, as I installed this without the help of another person. What isn’t shown in the video is me having to uninstall or reinstall various parts because of the same alignment issues. The kit does work well, but it does take time to figure out how to align the kit and the instructions aren’t the best.
@@speedcookie The Model Y sunshade that you can add to your order from Tesla is a foldable sunshade that you have to install and remove manually. Also, the mesh material in the Tesla sunshade still allows some light in.
Nice video. Would consider if it opened the other direction so that the cabin could be open in the back but the driver covered instead of the other way around
Thanks for watching. I don't believe that having the unit open from the front of the vehicle is possible, but there is a version of the sunshade that has operating button accessible from the front and rear of the vehicle. According to EVBASE, that version is currently out of stock.

Thanks for watching and noticing that making installation videos while holding a camera isn't easy!
