- The origins of cyclo-cross are a matter of much debate. One theory we like is that in the early 1900s, French cyclists would race each other from one town to the next by whichever route they thought would be the fastest. They would cut through fields and forests, carry their bike over fences and generally take any shortcut they could in order to make it to the finish first!
Today, Cyclo-cross is raced on a circuit of between 2.5km and 3.5km. The terrain is varied and may include clearings, roads, country lanes, sands and forest paths. Riders are required to complete several laps of the circuit over a period of no more than one hour. Sometimes they have to carry their bikes in order to negotiate steep paths, muddy tracks and artificial obstacles. Technical back-up is permitted.
This spectacular discipline is an unbeatable school of cycling in that it requires incredible technical skill, impressive physical fitness and plenty of courage.

Let's say they were worth eachother and it's shame Nys made such a big fault in the last lap but that's cyclocross. The one who makes the least mistakes, wins and last week that was Stybar. Normally I am huge Nys supporter but Stybar is a huge athlete and he won in a fair way, go stybar! :p

Styby rode aggressive throughout the race, remained hungry to know is that he did not really care what will happen. Nys was already worn out from the race, but I like a lot, but once you Styby into something so much can do everything and is still focused on the road even more so hats off.
P. S. I can not wait World Championships in Tabor per year

That's an incredible race.
CX was so different before WVA and MVDP. Rather than it being a straight up TT it seems there were attacks and variability of pace.
Stybar is awesome. It's a real shame he got knocked off his bike in Paris roubaix as he was looking very strong and I believe he could have won that sprint

awesome race, Stybar ("I'm not really prepared for race") should play poker! Gutted for Sven - without Zdenek he would have won by a country mile :-(
i didn't expect this to give me so many laughs
this seems to be the end of an era. the WC that would happen next year seems to be the beginning of the next era which we are currently in. aka the MVDP era.
The best did win. That is why he is a winner. BTW Stybar run just 2 times this year as preparation for spring classics. It is crazy how he come to this race from training and destroys everybody. The only one who can stay with him was the second guy.

You are a dreamer if you want to believe it, we saw the race and Stybar beat Nys fair and square. Wait for next year and the same will happen since Nys will be 38 years old.

there was another cyclist that fell over his handlebars further into the vid and the commentator mentioned that there were rocks in that part of the trail.
Leaving cyclo cross was his biggest mistake. First year he almosts wins Paris Roubaix, after that it was just downhill. Look at the Van Aerts and the Van der Poels.
