Hey Mike, super excited here ! I preordered and got an email this morning saying it had been shipped, got home around half 5 tonight and in the hallway on the floor were two boxes. I thought, no, they can't be here already I only just got the shipping confirmation email, opened the boxes and yep, its the PSVR2 and the charging dock for the controllers !! How can a 57 year old man feel like a kid on Christmas eve !! 😎😁👍
Hi, similar situation for me. Soon to be 56 years old, decades long gamer, the two boxes from Psvr2 waiting for me at home....and I am absolutely thrilled about setting it all up and having my first VR experience!!!
I'm 60 years old and got mine delivered on launch day as well. I'm a VR enthusiast though (I have a PCVR setup with a Rift S, a Quest and I still have my original PSVR which was my first VR headset). Been playing Horizon COTM and GT7 on my shiny new PSVR2 and am looking forward to playing RE8 and Kayak VR Mirage next!!
THANK YOU for the initial tip on VR motion. So many people try the most hardcore thing first, have a terrible experience, and then tell everyone that it'll make you sick. Drives me nuts!!!
@@VirtualRealityOasis It bums me out when people disregard the tech because of a previous bad experience! "I tried a VR Rollercoaster at a cheesy theme park, it was awful. VR sucks!" noooooooooo lol
Tbh I did this, just being a VR n00b I jumped straight into GT7 in a very fast car with a narrow windscreen. It was amazing but only managed 3 laps before getting the pre-vomit sweats 😅 so I stopped. But no way I’m letting it put me off or telling others not to buy. Just got to ease in more 😇
i had ps vr 1 and got to be honest never really used it all that much but feeling adventurous and a little rich i preordered VR2 and im blown away by it so far. I had no mans sky and GT7 and GT7 especially in VR is mind blowing and really genuinely enhances the experience.
Just got PSVR2 as my very first VR experience. I'm watching this video while I'm resting from motion sickness for playing both Horizon and Resident Evil (you literally mentioned both, I wish I saw this video first 😭) for about 3 hours total. Got too excited!!! But awesome video, thanks for the tips.
As Mike said: start slowly! I can recommend stuff like "Puzzling places". I never liked puzzles, but in 3D getting into the building you are building is actually nice. Since you do the walking around the puzzle as the models are about 1 meter (3 ft) large and the puzzle pieces arranged at the walls you get used to VR.
I currently have my PSVR2 sitting in my room, still in the shipping box. I'm waiting for the perfect time to crack it open and be completely immersed by VR for the first time. Thanks for the Tips!
Wow, you switched to 4K finally! My first impression was that this video looked much sharper and better than what I remember from your previous ones (recent ones at that). So good job Mike, keep them coming in 4K! :) And also thanks for the tips. DF mentioned that they tested extension cables in several lengths and had no issues with any of them so it's going to be hit-and-miss for some time I guess :(
I'm glad everyone's enjoying their new psvr 2. I thought I would be too. I requested 3 days off about a month ago just so I could be home to play with my new toy. Unfortunately mine came defective so I have to send it back for a replacement. 3 days off with nothing to do. ☹
@@clockworkNate The controllers wouldn't respond while trying to play games. Plus I could not get the eye tracking to enable. Kept saying unable to detect eyes during setup
Thanks so much for the in-depth review 💪 As an original kickstarter backer of the Oculus DK1, I mean, there's no replacing that Tuscany demo 😜 but your reviews and first impressions have answered all my questions about PSVR2. I have to say, based on what I'm seeing, GT7 alone might be worth the investment in the entire kit (console, headset, wheel). Personally, I'm all-in for PCVR (not standalone) and love my Pico 4 with the pancake lenses and Virtual Desktop. Based on your review yesterday, I actually bought Kayak from Steam and had a blast with it. I did have some hesitations about the fresnel lenses, but seems like it's not an issue as long as you're not playing "Optometrist Exam VR Simulator" 🙂 I'm so glad Sony is bringing their 'game' to VR. Horizon looks ok but that ghosting in smooth turning sound great. I would say, either way, 2023 is going to be amazing for VR 🙌
Thanks for your video tips. I didn't know there was going to be demos available on release date and a few other games were added. Now I have more to try out! 😁😁
I used to get pretty motion sick but I got used to it by running in circles in games and just removing the motion sick reduction things. It sounds dumb but it help you as long as you take breaks so you don't throw up.
I’ve never been motion sickness so I wasn’t worried about it buying this hardware but I play GT7 and felt so sick I had to put it down. I played pistol whip and horizon and was fine so it may take some time to build a tolerance Side note: you do no pulse head phones. You can buy a dongle on Amazon and works with most Bluetooth headphones
I work at GameStop so I didn't preorder mine through Sony just expecting to pick one up from my job on launch day but, to my surprise, it appears Sony pretty much didn't send any out to any of the GameStops or Best Buys in Orlando so I ended up just ordering one online from the PlayStation website. To my surprise UPS says it should arrive tomorrow afternoon and I placed my order this morning! Can't wait to live out my dream of playing gran turismo in VR
Update. I used a spare bathroom mat to test this and it's great. I don't spin and wander in space as much. Sometimes I find myself oriented differently on the mat than I think I am, but this is a nice way to increase orientation awareness and reduce spinning up the cable making it more of a nuisance to get stepped on.
Yes I confirm, involuntary camera movements is the main cause of motion sickness. I played crazy soldered, wired, engineering samples when I worked at a company back in 2012 and I still get sick playing certain games. I have to turn off all VR comfort settings and blinders. and then I'm usually fine. Dirt 2.0 still gets me sick. and any game where you can't control the camera. I have to have full motion games. any snap turning sends me to the floor. By the way I don't get sick on boats in the ocean or roller coaster rides.
I was worried my VR legs wouldn't be great but it turned out I have little or no problem usually even with movement heavy games (I love Sairento). If anything I was a little sad that I don't even really get any rollercoaster effect from anything. That said, any game that had enforced blinders would give me an almost instant headache so the early days of games where devs were too nervous to even let you turn them off meant I had to skip a few titles. The same is also true of skip turning to a lesser degree. Ironic that the features designed to help with issues are the only things that gave me problems.
All excellent advice regarding cyber/motion sickness. One additional piece of advice that may help others, would be to ensure your using the headphones. It's been said that when vision and sound don't correlate, the brain can have a hard time dealing with this and may be one of the factors in cyber sickness. I suspect this is why Sony by default shuts off audio on your TV, when using the VR headset.
Jumped right into GT7 with the Ferrari 458 GT3 in brands hatch and other tracks and didn’t get sick at all. RE8 with thumb stick movement also I didn’t get sick. Thankfully so far it seems cyber sickness isn’t something I have to worry about too much
If you have them You should check to see if bionik mantis headphones fit on the PSVr2 they were made for psvr1 but I could imagine those who aren’t looking to take a headset on and off would love the confirmation
Great tips Mike! Yeah, I love my PSVR2 but the shorter battery life on the controllers is a bit disappointing (especially since you can't just swap out the batteries with new ones like you can with the Meta/Oculus Touch controllers which also BTW last much longer). A dedicated controller charging station is a definite "must have" accessory!!
I am loving your videos and your knowledge has helping me to choose wisely my next step in the VR world. I would like to see a video that you can improve your experience after change some features em the setup options of ps5 console. I actually saw one or two videos about it that don’t gave me confidence.
Not getting a free SSD card from Sony (though they sent you a free unit), you find a way to white your sponsors into other kickbacks. Well played but pretty sleazy. Gets that's a thing over the pond.
I loved it for the hour got to play till I had to charge controllers the station is a must to have n I got so nauseous after just one hour it was crazy
I bought the new PSVR2. Its my first VR system, and first time trying VR ever. I bought Zenith and already owned GT7. Over the last 2 days I have been training myself to get my VR legs. The first day was rough...the flying in Zenith and speed of GT7 gave me the sickness, now I can play for over an hour before I start to get the beginnings of a headache and nausea. It goes away fast though. Just dont let it get bad, log out right away. (I refuse to use the comfort options...I will not teleport around or turn 45 degrees at a time. I refused to play the non movement games first...Im stubborn.) I bought a 16 foot usb to usb c cable off amazon...it falls right out of the port...useless. My only real grips with the PSVR2 is the controller battery life...way too short, I'll be forced to buy a 2nd pair and charge one while using the other.(3 hours for Zenith) I also dont like the button layout, but I hope to get used to that too. This so far has been the most challenging experience of my gaming life. Its harder to learn at my age (near 50)...it was so easy as a kid lol. I love it, its incredible...but yeah, its been a rough start...I even had to return a faulty controller.
Same...I hit all the local pawn shops, flea markets and online auctions! I only have GT7 left though...sold everything else for profit and will have to buy again XD
Honestly at 15 feet for a console experience not sure if I'll even look at expanding it that's enough for me to walk around in a 5x5 or 7x7 square in my living room. If I do it would only be the 3 foot cable anyway to cover the area between the playstation and the bottom of my entertainment center. That way I can use the full 15 feet. But not sure if that will be necessary.
The two games you said not to start with are the two I'm starting with. Gran Turismo 7 and RE VIII. My first VR experience.. I'll be fine! I hope.. lol
I just played Horizon for 30 mins, and i got a bit of motion sickness. Im taking a 1 to 2 hr break and play moss instead What about Drums Rock and Pistol whip? Do those cause motion sickness?
just got mine and its fantastic.... if they ever update this then about the only thing I'd like to see them do is switch the connection to HDMI on the PS and the VR so it would play back the movies even better.... but the VR2 is amazing as is... going to be losing some good sleep time over the next few weeks... 🙂 would be nice if they let other equipment to connect to the PS like a Apply TV for streaming shows and movies...
One good thing I like about this headset is that it seems pretty great out of the box and doesn’t need like half a dozen accessories like the Quest 2. Although if I ever get the psvr2 the one accessory I most likely will get is a reliable extension cable, hopefully Sony will release an official one later on.
half a dozen? just get a boboVR m2 and you're done, it's literally just the strap that absolutely needs replacing. also how is having options a downside?
@Zwenk Wiel bobvr m2 is great and would be the only thing I'd get after having enough experience with the Quest 2 since it was released. Having options is not a downside I didn't mean to convey that message at all. The Quest 2 was my first VR headset ever and I bought numerous accessories to try to make it more comfortable and to protect it as well. Going through headstraps (official elite strap w/battery and kiwi design elite strap) back then was stressful too I was super worried I'd break the speaker assembly each time. In the end I kept the bobvr m2 head strap, vr cover facial interface, vr cover halo protector, kiwi design controller grip cover, amvr headset protective shell and protective lens bumpers.
Just got my package!!! This is my first VR setup (I’ve played GT Sport at CES with PSVR) and thought it was neat. Im planning on running a 50ft optical USB-C cable to another room, using receptacles to connect the type C between PS5, optical cable, and the headset in room 2! It’ll be awesome!
Thank you for the hint not to start playing VR with Horizon. Was too late for me though, guess who ordered both in a bundle? Good to know though that the sickness issue is no k.o. For VR Gaming in general. Also got Tetris without your recommendation. Done everything right I guess. 😂
I just got my Psvr2 pre ordered last night and just got a set of steelseries arctis nova pros... Let's hope the novas will fit over it ok. Lol appreciate the video bro!
I got mine today and I read the cinema mode was only in HD but all my 4K HDR digital movies are working on RUclips and Prime video in 4K with HDR. I do like it but I got so many red marks on my head after I have worn it and I didn’t get that with the PSVR
Do the Pulse over ear headphones shift when moving your head around in VR? Because i found this to be the case with PSVR1, anytime i'd tilt my head back or forward. I figure, maybe the PSVR2 has a better grip on them to prevent it from happening?
I've been playing VR for a while now and I still cannot do smooth turning. Snap turning works perfectly fine for me but the second I do smooth turning the motion sickness hits quickly.
Nice video! Ordered one myself today, so now I just have to wait for it to get delivered to my home. Can't wait to use it and see just how much of an improvement it is over the PSVR. I probably knew some of the tips and tricks, and other info already. Maybe because of some other videos you made about PSVR2 previously. Plus I watched some videos about it from other RUclipsrs. I'm not completely new to VR, but also not a veteran. Quite sad to find out that 3D videos don't work on PSVR2. (Yet) Really hoping they'll make an update for it very soon. VR is probably the only way to enjoy 3D movies at home. Since I don't have a 3D TV.
@@ActNasty5 Yeah that’s a very old headset now, but also the most comparable to the PSVR 2. The PSVR 2 is not a huge jump over the rift S as far as new or better technology.
Can I just confirm that, even though the FOV is now 110, people can still slightly see the black edges of the screen while playing? Just wanted to know if I set it up correctly
One possible correction - you mentioned picking up games cheap buying old PSVR or flat screen versions of games physically. After The Fall developer advise there's no solution for Physical Copies yet. Only Digital Copies will access the new PSVR2 version for free. Unsure of other games, but I assume if you pick up PS4 disc, you mightn't get a PSVR2 upgrade...
yeah kind of weird how they don't make more VR games like that, just being a stationary camera in a 3d environment has a ton of untapped potential and would be great for the more casual crowd who can't take zipping around action packed 1st person games in VR without getting sick.
Great video. Please can you try out some mag safe type C adapters to connect the PSVR 2 to the console. I'm considering this option because I don't like how the type C cable sags down when plugged in. I'm honestly afraid the cable could break. Please post a video and let us know your findings. Thank you
Blue ray videos are in 1920x1080 resolutions which is the resolution of the original psvr. So I can understand why it might not be available with the new 4k psvr2
that's not how watching flat screen videos in VR works though, like the video doesn't fill the entire headset, you can technically watch any video at any size on a virtual screen. think Sony just needs to program all that shit (not sure if PSVR2 will get bigscreen or something similar)
Hiya, I love your work. Can you tell me if you have this issue or not. So ingame, in galaxy bartender and zombie land, I find the distance jumping in and out sometimes. Like, in bartender, the customer order is 'close' then it's like twice as far away, on the back wall so to speak. What's going on do you think?
I am happy that I was aware about the three gamea you mentioned and only tried horizon for the introduction seen. Well...i tested it for 5 min and it was very quickly clear that i should not proceed no nousea but hints that i will get there. Then i moved to Moss and o boy it was wonderful. Lost like 2h with no need to brake....I wonder what other games you will recomend ...you know good value for money (more than just few hours). Is pistolwhip good option or the forward motion will lead to a nousa initially?
Does no man's sky and other psvr1 games that's out on the new headset support the 110 degree field of view? Or will this feature only be for the new games that comes out?

If I do it would only be the 3 foot cable anyway to cover the area between the playstation and the bottom of my entertainment center. That way I can use the full 15 feet. But not sure if that will be necessary.
I am enjoying my new Psvr 2 headset with horizon, gt7, kayak, re village and no más sky
Kayak and Horizon are beautiful compare to anything I have seen on my Quest 2
The two games you said not to start with are the two I'm starting with. Gran Turismo 7 and RE VIII. My first VR experience.. I'll be fine! I hope.. lol
I cant wait to use my headset and thanks for the tips mike they really help
I just played Horizon for 30 mins, and i got a bit of motion sickness. Im taking a 1 to 2 hr break and play moss instead
What about Drums Rock and Pistol whip? Do those cause motion sickness?
Hey Mike thanks so much for not replying to my question. Really appreciate it.
Give me a chance. You only asked 30 mins ago and it’s the weekend. I have replied []-/
just got mine and its fantastic.... if they ever update this then about the only thing I'd like to see them do is switch the connection to HDMI on the PS and the VR so it would play back the movies even better.... but the VR2 is amazing as is... going to be losing some good sleep time over the next few weeks...
I have quest 2 hardly need anything. Psvr 2 will look into future after it's optimal with many more games
Good job! Thank you! 🙏🏽
I’m thinking about buying bigger ssd memory, since game sizes are getting bigger and bigger. Also idea of carpet is very nice 😊
I have an old piece of shag carpet...its comfortable
Thanks for posting your the best youtuber
I got mine today and I read the cinema mode was only in HD but all my 4K HDR digital movies are working on RUclips and Prime video in 4K with HDR.
I do like it but I got so many red marks on my head after I have worn it and I didn’t get that with the PSVR
It's nowhere near as comfortable as the og psvr hurts my head lol
@@emmamcgorrin2478 I agree, I will wear a head band now with it
Love the psvr2 so far happy I preordered it waaay better thn oculus 2
Would definitely recommend you look at the arctic nova 7 from steelseries. It has usb cable charging and has Bluetooth and true wireless from a dongle
Same as the updated version of his 7p (7p+).
Do the Pulse over ear headphones shift when moving your head around in VR? Because i found this to be the case with PSVR1, anytime i'd tilt my head back or forward. I figure, maybe the PSVR2 has a better grip on them to prevent it from happening?
Damn ive done the mat thing with a blanket. I thought i was the only one 😂
I would buy these if I could afford a psvr 2
I've been playing VR for a while now and I still cannot do smooth turning. Snap turning works perfectly fine for me but the second I do smooth turning the motion sickness hits quickly.
That's gonna do wonders on those craptastic Steelseries hinges.
Getting it for seating to play
PSVR 2 is looking hot! I’m so glad to see them stepping up to PC quality.
Lowkey higher than pc quality in some ways
@@ActNasty5 Don’t push it.😅
@@deliriousvrc5252 my rift s must be garbage quality at this point then 🥴
@@ActNasty5 Yeah that’s a very old headset now, but also the most comparable to the PSVR 2. The PSVR 2 is not a huge jump over the rift S as far as new or better technology.
@@deliriousvrc5252 hdr, higher res, and eye tracking?
No motion sicknes in granturismo 👍🏻
Can I just confirm that, even though the FOV is now 110, people can still slightly see the black edges of the screen while playing? Just wanted to know if I set it up correctly
Yes you can see the edges....after a few minutes you wont notice them though
Whats is the best headset to buy right now? Should I wait for upcoming devices? (For PC)
Thanks
Some Starwars battlefront game in Vr 2 would be nice!
Any word about A magnetic gun stock coming out for shooters for the PlayStation VR 2 it would really help especially with sniping
Thanks for letting me know mate. I'll keep an eye on this []-)
After the fall developers are giving out codes if you have proof of purchase for your physical copy. DM them on Twitter
3:54 barely an inconvenience 😉
Moss is a great game, for noobs and old hats alike.
yeah kind of weird how they don't make more VR games like that, just being a stationary camera in a 3d environment has a ton of untapped potential and would be great for the more casual crowd who can't take zipping around action packed 1st person games in VR without getting sick.
Thanks for all the work, Mike! Awesome coverage!
I don't know the pulse. Is it 5.1 sound? Or just stereo?
I'm new to VR, I was very sick 🤒
I had that with 1st person/ cockpit view only. Try something like Moss. Also, eat some ginger. It can help until you get accustomed to it.
"Thunderbolt 4" USB C cables should always work.
Can you broadcast while playing a vr game?
Yes. You can do this directly from the PS5 []-)
@@zwenkwiel816 I guess that's true, I didn't really think about that.
Do you want 3ft or 3.3ft extension cable?
Hiya, I love your work. Can you tell me if you have this issue or not. So ingame, in galaxy bartender and zombie land, I find the distance jumping in and out sometimes. Like, in bartender, the customer order is 'close' then it's like twice as far away, on the back wall so to speak. What's going on do you think?
Thanks
