    What’s your preferred brand of engine oil?

    • @mikelittell682
      @mikelittell682 2 года назад +1

      Mobile 1 Full Synthetic, I ran an auto parts store for years and also have many friends who race and Mobile 1 is the best. Royal Purple and Amsoil is very good too.

      The only issue with Mobil1 is that it does not meet FCA’s MS-12766 specification requirement for the 6.4L Hemi.

    So you don't film removing the oil filter, or say anything about filling it up with oil prior to installing the new one, but you film pouring 7 quarts of oil in, interesting. And what about the oil cooler, any information on bleeding the cooler?, and what are the torque specs, in case we would like to use them?

    Do we change the air filter?

    Actually on a Hemi a little extra oil is a good thing. On a new vehicle I ignore the dipstick, put in the recommended amount of oil and then see where it falls on the dipstick and that's what I go by for the rest of the cars life. Any Hemi tick/startup tick yet? If and when you do switch to Redline oil or add a bottle of Lubeguard Biotech to the PUP and it will go away. These newer gen Hemis have an inherent problem with the oiling system which can cause cam and lifter problems in some vehicles.

      Question to you on your comment about the ticking noise. I bought a 2022 5.7 Hemi Challenger April 1st 2023 with 11 miles on it from the dealership. I bought it to use only for car shows which I've done 4 car shows and I have 202 miles after 5 months. I've noticed that when I start it up there's lifter noise for a few seconds and then goes away.. I also have had it sit in the garage twice now for maybe a week and a half without starting it up when I first got it and when I did start it up it made lifter noise for about a minute or so before the noise went away and that freaked me out. So I've been starting the car up twice a week just to prevent that. So based on your comment is this normal for a Hemi 5.7 to have some lifter noise in the beginning on Startup? I would think with a new car this wouldn't be happening. I also have an older car 65 goat that sat in storage for 27 years under my ownership and sometimes I didn't start the car for weeks to months at a time and I never heard lifter noise in the 389 engine. And that car is old technology with regular dinosaur juice. So should I be worried on the Challenger?

    • @BamaTidefan1967
      @BamaTidefan1967 Год назад

      Normal no, typical yes. I would ditch the 0W20 and use a high Molybdenum 5W30 OTC synthetic oil at a minimum(my favorite is Valvoline Extended Performance 5W30) with a minimum 10oz. bottle of Lubegard Biotech for a 3000 mile run just to see if it quiets the lifters to start with. You can also go straight to Redline 5W30 in the blue bottle but it is much more expensive than the latter. Just remember to be patient and give these extra additives time to plate the metal and quiet things down. 1000 miles usually does nicely. From my experience if you're getting the tick right from the beginning you're going to have cam/lifter problems eventually but whose to say when exactly. Mine failed at 32K on my first Ram. I sold the truck to my best friend and he now has 150K on it but followed my recommendations after the dealer repaired it and hasn't had any more problems. @@ex.spaceshuttle.worker

      @@tyransaffoldjr it’s not rocket science but there’s is a lot of things you have to take into account.
      1. V8s take more gas and higher octane rating is required so it costs more.
      2. Brembo performance brakes cost more to maintain than the standard V6 brakes.
      3. Car Insurance premiums vary based on your age, the color of the car, what you intend to use it for, (a ton of different variables).
      4. Buying the Car in the first place, Financing it or Cash. Can you afford it first of all? (Rhetorical question btw)
      5.How MUCH do you intend to use the car and how will You Drive it; will you race it or drive conservatively?
      these are all questions and the answers all vary for the customer. You have to research it yourself

    So…regarding the comment about Dodge declining warranty if you use oil other than Penzoil recommended… This general scenario went through the courts and the final decision is that no manufacturer can decline or refuse to fulfill warranty claim, if the owner did not use the manufacturer’s recommended service shop and products. Providing the proper oil type and frequency of oil change was adhered to, the vehicle owner is entitled to warranty. But enough about legal. Torque that drain pan nut…why take a chance, especially on such an expensive car. Step away from the big mac burritos… there’s barely enough room under the car. Or get a real hydraulic lift and be the coolest guy on the block. Nice car!
