This is the most amazing video that I never expected to see...totally improved my day in 15 minutes! I didn't actually think that Alan Tudyk could get any more nerdily cool but I was completely wrong :)
OMG yes! I really miss stuff like proper flea markets or 'junk' stores for trying to find weird and/or unexpected things to collect (I collect way too many things. From scissors to garden gnomes to canes, etc). Even just simple second-hand stores seem to be harder and harder to come by these days!
There was just a sleeping with celebrities episode with Alan Tudyk about the yardsticks. I had no idea. It's extremely charming to hear anyone this excited about anything. What a joy ;w;
Alan Tudyk is an absolute treasure! Phonetic spelling of his name on Zoom calls, literally saying "Wink!" conversationally, the list goes on and on. And Dan, while Liquid Asbestos does sound terrifying, I'm gonna go with Aerosol Asbestos being the worst. 🤢💀
they were often given at Christmas time, as a marketing thing! just love him… he is the funiest ever! I laugh sooo much out loud watching Resident Alien!!! the funniest!
My (elderly) dad found an old yardstick in an antique store and thinks he can contact Alan to see if he wants it. I told him it's unlikely but thought I'd see if @nerdist can.
If you ever get a chance to talk to Alan again about yardsticks, ask him if he goes to county and state fairs and collects the freebies that one can inevitably find in those settings. I cannot go to the Minnesota State Fair without taking at least one yardstick home, simply because they come in various colors, and I happen to like a particular color. He could find some interesting advertisers there.
I love yardsticks too. When my parents passed, I cleared out their house and found 17 yardsticks. Also about 25 fingernail clippers and 20 flashlights. They were not hoarders. They just had these things all over, in pockets of coats, etc. Not the yardsticks. I was born and raised in Texas and think Alan is the greatest. ❤❤❤❤❤😅😊😂😮😊
We have great antique malls in AZ! My favorite it Merchant Square 😄 I wonder if Alan has a PO box, so I could send him a yardstick if I find a good one? 😄
Yeah, a yardstick was the weapon of choice for controlling a class of nine-year-olds in my 1967 primary school. Too hefty to use for wrapping across knuckles though; if you know what I mean.
This video is incredible. Alan Tudyk is a treasure and so talented. Plus, I love how chaotic he becomes when he’s excited about something. I saw an interview with him and he said his thoughts bottleneck sometimes and they get stuck and he can’t get them out. You can totally see that happening here. I couldn’t love him more
Cool! I'm a 70 yr old gal who loves antiques. I have an extensive collection of antique Christian art, mostly Catholic with some Orthodox. We Protestants have some lame art. All my furniture is antique. I have a lot of mid-century and 19th century. I have and use antique tools. I have picked up cool yardsticks at antique malls. I love being surrounded by objects with a history. I think Mr. Tudyk's collection is as cool as his show Resident Alien. The best show on TV!
A phrase that was common around our house growing up was, "If y'all don't stop it, I'm gonna get the yardstick!" Many were broken throughout the years... Have you noticed that the yardstick of yore, the wood was great qulity,...no more.
I just love that Alan's Zoom name is "toodick". HAHAHAH!
This is so brilliant. I've always really liked Alan Tudyk as an actor, and now I have a great affection for him as a nerdy guy. I have doubled my joy.
That profound delight you feel when someone is exactly the kind of person you hoped they'd be!
Absolutely this!

Congratulations Mr. Tudyk. In dedication of you I will make a yardstick merchant in D&D. Always there to sell such a handy tool. 🤣
This video is a gem.i love the fact that he is for real nerdy for yardstick.he actually has a passion for them.
Just when I thought I couldn’t love him more.❤️

I would say Alan is leagues above other celebrities, but if he only has 1000 yard sticks, then he's only 1/6 of a league.
We had a ton of yardsticks growing up. Almost every store just gave them away with their advertising. Now Alan has me getting excited about it!
There was just a sleeping with celebrities episode with Alan Tudyk about the yardsticks. I had no idea. It's extremely charming to hear anyone this excited about anything. What a joy ;w;
Alan is adorable! I love his enthusiasm and interests in very unusual things! Thank you. I have a lot of affection for him too!
Wow this is so hilarious and amazing. Alan Tudyk is so great. Love yea Dan!
9:00 is the funniest thing I've heard you say so far. My belly hurts now. Thank you.

Omg!😂
Thank you Alan and Dan for bringing me joy!
I wish I could like this video more than once. It's so chaotic! :)
Cheers from El Paso, Tx. Luv Alan Tudyk, he's so darn hilarious
Truly wholesome content.
I can't get enough Tudyk 😁
I love this show idea and I can't wait to see who or what you bring on next!
they were often given at Christmas time, as a marketing thing! just love him… he is the funiest ever! I laugh sooo much out loud watching Resident Alien!!! the funniest!
Oh this was so enjoyable. Alan is so personable and real. Thank you

Love it, so fun and interesting the stories he shares about yardsticks. Alan is a wonderful actor and down to earth, plus a collector!
This is so great, I love this so much
The man collects yards sticks! I love him even more now😊
Now I'm worried for Adam Savage if Alan outlives him...
Alan, I would join your yardstick group!
Yay!
Sorry, has no one else noticed that Alan’s screen name is “Alan Toodick”?
😆 Yup!
"My least favorite form of asbestos." 😆
I love yardsticks too.

❤❤❤❤❤😅😊😂😮😊
Still got my childhood yardstick
My obsession is, ... metric measurement !! And cleansing the Earth of the evil scourge of Imperial Measurement !!!!!!
We have great antique malls in AZ! My favorite it Merchant Square 😄 I wonder if Alan has a PO box, so I could send him a yardstick if I find a good one? 😄
the one with the holes is auto related-to keep valves in order when rebuilding the head.

I have this exact embalming kit
I was told they don't make yard sticks any longer. Heh heh Dad Joke.
Did you guys hear they aren't making 12" rulers any longer?
Yarrrr! It be Steve the pirate 🏴☠️
All the better to measure your Danger Boat with?
My obsession is Sharpies and colored liquid hand soap. I used to be a teacher. 🙋🏻♂️👨🏻🏫

I think I just fell in love. ;)
Just the idea of any advertisement of Asbestos. Liquid asbestos sounds terrible. Thinking of a slogan "Great for nurseries!" XD
Are yardsticks like overly large rulers?
So glad I'm not alone.
Thanks guys
Old tools. Especially those I can fix.
As a retired cabinet maker, the affection for wood and tools is addictive.
Cracks me up how many funeral homes used them for PR!! 🤣
lol, the Alan Toodick label is really distracting me and making me snicker.
No disrespect to Benicio, but why was Alan not cast as The Collector??
I love K-2S0 and Steve the Pirate XD
I love this idea! I will watch every one of these as they pop up in my feed.
I have a meter stick, but then I'm not in America....
Alan Tudyk is a legend, I always wanted his roles xD
What's wrong with bored...
I have a yard glass. I got it for my 21st and it is a yard long.
Dan hosts really great shows 👍🏾👌🏾😆
My wife also collects yard sticks.
Drink every time they say 'yardstick'
This man is a treasure. Love this!
Where can I find this show
Love Alan in resident alien!
Bring back Firefly
From what I've seen, him and Nathan Fillion often invite each other to their shows
sorry man, its time to go metric ;P
cubit stick.
Did you here they aren’t making yard sticks any longer
Nice
