Yeah, I think Yzma has a basis for change, the first film even plays with this by showing her in Kronk's group at the end

That's because it was sorta a punishment to her, since she did offended him and kinda of a throw away joke that the movie did.
I would however count the sequel where she goes back to him out of all the people she could've hired for her, since Kuzco said in one line of the movie: "Every decade or so, she gets a new one".
      Now that's loyalty.

disney prioritizes nothing more than money,so, of course, they chose the more "popular" character.. Great video btw this is a good discussion!

No live action. NEVER live action of an animated property. All those movies are nothing but a giant cash grab hinging on adult nostalgia and sends the message that animation is inferior when it's an art of their own.
If I had to choose a Disney villain to redeem in movie format, it'd be Jafar. He's in the same boat as Yzma. He's pretty much a glorified babysitter for royalty, an old man who is too eccentric for his own good and a restless, motherless teenage girl who would end up meeting someone who isn't the best fit for her considering he LIED to her through the entire movie and only wanted what she had, which could mean he may not actually LOVE Jasmine, just her status.

Hey if you wanna see this Jafar redemption concept to its fullest potential. You should watch Twisted by Team Starkid, it's a musical that is done From Jafar's perspective and it's absolutely amazing.

Yzma deserves the spot MUCH more than Cruella does on everything that disney has brought out with the "Strong disney female villains" and I always feel uncomfortable that a puppy murderer is always there. We all know how she turns out despite her "tragic" background. We also know from the old dalmation films that she ends up treating her friends/love interests as if they were filth so she is a aweful role model for young girls when it comes to female empowerment. Yzma is sassy and relatable especially after hearing the cut song that she had (Snuff out the light). She could've been great and also a representive character was she wasn't white like the rest of the popular female villian cast.

They should give the movie some kingdom of the sun elements by making her some kind of necromancer.
But I don’t think she’d work well as a heroin.
Actually, I just want Kingdom of the Sun, but with more Yzma, making her shine more and showing more of her backstory.

In the series, Kuzco did mention an "Yzma's New Groove" movie. Maybe if Disney made that, Yzma's could've been redeemed.

If Disney did do an Emperor's New Groove remake they might as well just make Kingdom of the Sun

0:10 Well, from my perspective, that was basically not Cruella but an alternate "Heroine" version of her. As far as I'm concerned, however, I am going to agree with the title saying that this is honestly more of a missed opportunity than anything else. Yzma should've been the protagonist, not Cruella. Whoever thought using Cruella was a smart idea should be fired for being unoriginal and derivatively unsubversive with their attempts at cash grabbing Joaquin Pheonix's Joker.
Or, they could've dug back up The Kingdom Of The Sun's plot where Yzma wanted to be younger and more beautiful. Of course, that probably wouldn't fit the newer Yzma's character motivation, but she's already failed at taking down Kuzko in the first animated film, this could be a spin off from that film that goes into a different continuity where Yzma is still everything she once was, she's still cartoonishly evil, charming, cunning, very intelligent, and borders on mad motivation, however, she's now getting older and so she temporarily moves out of Kuzko's Kingdom in order to get her youth back through the Fountain of Youth, which coincidentally how far she'll be moving would be to "A" Fountain of Youth that isn't as effective as "THE" Fountain of Youth however Yzma is desperate and so she relies on it. This could give us an excuse for a Younger Yzma, and a plot device and still keeping her an Anti-"Hero." She would honestly be less sympathetic here, especially since Kuzko at this point has learned humility, but now's the time for her to both voice her own opinions and be able to put Kuzko in check while learning from Kuzko's growth and eventually being given an option to abandon her evil goals and just retire. She won't in one film, of course, but over time she'll fail again and again, maybe even getting a few hollow victories, before eventually just retiring to a nursing home.

    THIS ^^^
Heck, Kuzco's plan to leave dozens of villagers homeless in favour of his waterpark would have gone through if Yzma hadn't tried to kill him.
Not to mention, Yzma was only fired for running things while HE was off lounging about, choosing brides and doing his dance number. Say what you will about her agenda, but she was merely filling out for the things Kuzco didn't care for or had the time to do.

While I can understand absolutely no one likes him and even God would damn him to Hell (which he did lol). I’d like to see Claude Frollo see the error of his ways. It’d be the absolute best way to show God’s infinite love for his children if it was handled correctly. You can clearly see that Frollo does in fact have some redeeming qualities but they’re overshadowed by his cruel nature. He fully intended to kill Quasimodo as a baby. However in a brief moment of genuine humanity he chose to hide him away from the world instead. He did not have to save his “son” when he did. I see this as a moment where God was able to get through to his heart. Disney could create an alternate story where this moment actually continues to affect his heart. Eventually he starts preaching publicly that the Gypsies are god’s children as well and deserve the same respect and love as European Catholics.

I don't think disney would be willing to do something so religious again but yeah, frollo's design and songs go hard. In the book and in the musical he was a bit more nuanced which was interesting, I just don't think modern disney could handle a plot like that well.

I feel like him realizing what he did wrong is not something he'd be able to, bc his whole world view would crumble to the point where he wouldn't be Frollo anymore

That would have been nice. At least at the end of the franchise she is still employed by Kuzo to a degree. He could have banished her after all she did to him but though it was likely as payback, I think having her still be around also shows that he does care/respect her a little bit.

I think the villain that deserves a spot to have a redemption movie would be Hades from Hercules. And l know what you're gonna say:
    1. But Disney only does feminine movies.
    2. Hades flames requires CGI all over him.
But screw with it! If they can managed to do it in Descendants then l'm certain they could do it here, plus they tried to do that stunt with Hook on "Peter Pan and Wendy" movie. Also it wouldn't be far fetched portraying Zeus as an villain guy, since it would be totally accurate to the Greek mythology!
