After 3 years of wanting to give this a crack and a chat or 2 with yourself a buhurt gym finally opened up only 30mins away from me, Cheers for introducing the sport to me legend!
>9 means greater than 9. It might be different from the kids video because it doesn't have the 2 numbers (10>9) but it is basically __>9 with the __ meaning your axe's blade which has to be larger than 9cm. -Mr Maths
Great channel mate! Have been casually glancing at the Brisbane Beasts socials for a while and considering the sport...your channel is 11/10 informative
for 6:27, Permissible upward error allowance may be if a weapon exceeds the limit by say 4% of the weight max for a sword it could be allowed, but for the mace they would have the cut off at the written figure. (this is just my guess)
Agreed! It has tolerance in the negative direction (less weight) but none in the positive. Considering how nasty an overweight mace could be, that’s very fair 😅
Quite informative, thank you for taking the time to share, perhaps tou could also go into more detail in a future vid on differences between pro fights (or outrance) and duels. On the surface it seems almost identical except for weapons. You can't have a profight with axes, right?
Can't you? There is a category of 2 handed bladed weapons that are heavier than a longsword in Buhurt international rules. As long as it's 2.3-3.0kg, 120-160cm and the handle is 30-50cm I think they'd be allowed for buhurts. (Plus having armour in their era and probably not having Parierhaken) I don't know but I'm assuming they're not used because they are more expensive and harder to justify as well as being less effective than an axe or halberd. Again could be wrong but that's from the weapon document on their website
Swords seem not as efficient. As far as i know in the medival times swords were not used as the weapon of choice against armoured enemies. Blunt weapons such as hammers or mace weapons.
I’d argue a hammer with wider area of effect would actually do more damage, which is why hammers are illegal and why they were actually used. In addition: a sword or axe with a smaller blade than say, a literal hammer… and why you can’t stab or have sharp edges on your weapons. So you don’t literally kill someone.
Getting into this sport now after finding this channel 👍
That’s what I love to hear! Welcome to the family!

My personal build would be:
Havel The Rock😂
I'm more of a giant dad guy 😂
How do I get into this?

@@mathewbaez1495 Michigan United States
@@mathewbaez1495I’m in northern Utah, USA. Same question
I think there's 3 or 4 in Vic and one in every other state.. Google- Buhurt near me
Money... Lot's and lot's of money
Nice video! Also where did you get the halberd looks great.
Epic! ⚔️
Thanks mate!!
Are throwing axes allowed? Or morning stars? Are you allowed to dual wield swords?
Thanks mate, appreciate it
What do you recommend for a shorter stockier guy with wrestling experience
Do what I do!
How often do you encounter dragons?
1-2 times a year
then why is everyone selling 8cm or lower pob and they are allowed
Based
So bludgeoning weapons are allowed nice i was hoping that was gonna be nice
The big bummer in my opinion is that you can use a halberd but you cant use a great sword like a zweihander or claymore

How does someone win at this sport?
Making your oponents touch the floor with their hands or back, and in some 1v1 making your oponent give up

@aandyherr817 I've been in this sport for a while and understand the mechanics of the weapons. I think you missed the sarcasm 😉
