What is really missed by these type of critics is that in the New Covenant, the Law is written on our hearts and the Lord causes us to walk in His statutes. We are saved by grace through faith so that we can walk in the good works the Lord has prepared for us. It's such a simple concept.

Yea but God’s not gonna force u to do good works either after being saved and that is ur choice which u should do, and Romans 4:5 says worketh not faith is counted as righteousness cause works don’t prove your saved. Only if you believed the Gospel of Jesus Christ 1 Corinthians 15:1-4

@@Watery_G I would encourage studying the Union with Christ theme a little deeper. Obviously salvation is by faith in Christ. I think the problem with your statement is you are basically implying that faith in Christ does not necessarily mean anything practically in the believer's life, which is simply a false statement. Using language such as "force u to do good works either after being saved and that is ur choice u should do" shows you need a bit more studying in the scriptures.

    • @Watery_G
      @Watery_G Месяц назад

@ no it doesn’t it shows u don’t actually believe what the Bible says about salvation like your false prophet friend over here Jeff Durban. U aren’t faith alone in Christ alone like u think u are. You are all works trusters, and that is ultimately Calvinism especially the p ur false man made doctrine of tulip. I use the Bible u use man made doctrines. Romans 4:1-8 is pretty clear WORKETH NOT FAITH IS COUNTED AS RIGHTEOUSNESS. That includes before being saved and after as Ephesians 2:8-9. Then Ephesians 2:10 we are made as the workmanship of Christ to do good works Amen, but guess what if I don’t I’m still saved cause salvation isn’t about your works or how many works u have that prove ur saved. In fact it’s about do u believe the Gospel of eternal life. If u think your works have something to do with it especially if u feel like ur works prove ur really saved guess what; you don’t believe the Gospel of eternal life and you are trusting your works ultimately for salvation. You will hear this from Jesus Matthew 7:21-23 cause u didn’t do the Father’s will as mentioned in John 6:39-40 which is to simply believe on Jesus Christ alone for your salvation. So stop trusting your filthy rags for salvation and believing u can lose it or if someone doesn’t have they ain’t truly saved cause when u say that u go against what the Bible has to say that it is not of works. Not just that but Romans 4:1-8 whether u had works before or even after being saved guess what WORKETH NOT FAITH IS COUNTED AS RIGHTEOUSNESS. The same faith that saved Abraham and counted him for righteousness in Genesis 15:1-6 when he believed the promise God made to him about the Gospel of his seed which that seed is Christ Jesus.
Galatians 3:6-29 6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
15 Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.
16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
20 Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.
21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Another cognitive issue that some people have is the inability to think elliptically. Example, "Thou shall not," also means the negation, "Thou shall." Thou shall honor thy father and mother also means do not dishonor father and mother. You shall have no other God also means you are to worship the true God and Him alone. I find this inability to run from theological concepts through other spheres as well, like Economics particularly.

In Martin Luther's lesser known 97 theses, posted in September 1517 he wrote:
    40. We do not become righteous by doing righteous deeds but, having been made righteous, we do righteous deeds. This in opposition to the philosophers.
I don't understand how people think that the biblical truth that after a person is born again and in-dwelled by the Holy Spirit that it is impossible for them not to begin to do good works. It's a biblical contrast between 2 different kinds of faith, one which is salvific and produces fruits of good works, and one which is not salvific and does not effect any change in a person's life. That isn't saying that works are necessary for salvation, it's saying that the kind of faith which grants salvation also brings forth good works.
Again, I really don't understand this particular objection to reformed soteriology.

James 2 is not talking about salvation. If it was, it would contradict this:
    ‭Romans 4:5 KJV‬
[5] But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
In James 2, James is rebuking the Jewish Church for claiming to believe in giving Charity to the Poor. Meanwhile, they are favoring the rich over the poor. They are not acting out their values that they claim to believe. Because of this, God is going to send plagues on them. James tells them that simply believing in feeding the poor is not a substitute for actually feeding the poor.
This chapter has nothing to do with salvation. Putting your faith in Jesus Christ, that his death is getting you to heaven, does not necessitate works.

  • @stuffipost137
    @stuffipost137 Месяц назад +2

Jeff is simply wrong concerning the idea of fallen angels. He says, "The idea that spiritual entities..." and there's the problem.
We are body and soul. The angels have bodies as well (although we don't understand that, but Scripture affirms it). As we are body and soul, why are not the angels with "heavenly bodies"?
Moreover, when angels appeared on earth, they, indeed, had bodies. For instance, Jesus (the pre-incarnate Christ) was with two angels at Abraham's tent. The did eat. Did the food drop into some empty void? And, forgive me here, but it's necessary, concerning the digestive tract - or, more to the point, the beginning to, yes, "end" of it - what do you think the men of Sodom wanted to do to the angels? But, wait? So, they took on human bodies (or, perhaps, assumed their full form to walk on earth - we don't know), they had the ability to eat, digest, and "dispose" of food (again, what did the Sodomites wish to do?)... but they were Ken dolls? That doesn't work.
Moreover, there is some sort of a physical aspect to heaven. How do I know? Because "the man Christ Jesus" (to quote Paul), is "seated" in heaven. He's a man. A human. (Yes the hypostatic union, but you know what Im saying.) So, he still must need nourishment for the body (he is like us in every way, except without sin).
So, if there is a physical nature to heaven (despite our inability to fully comprehend it), and the angels certainly appeared and acted human while on earth, what prevents one which had lefts his true domain from losing that? I see nothing.
There were really giants. Actual giants. Every culture says it. These were the unnatural (not impossible) union between angel and woman.

Romans 8:9, “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.”

I don't remember the name of it but there was a book that was about this subject and it linked ancient mythology directly to the Nephilim. The main point was that the ancient myths were corrupted stories of what really happened in Genesis 6. Some translations like NIV say that the Nephilim were "the heroes of old" so stories like Hercules and other mythological figures were based on the Nephilim. There are a lot of stories of "gods" mating with humans and producing half-god superhero type people.
