Olympiacos has not beaten once or twice Arsenal at the Emirates but three times in the last nine years! Liverpool and Manchester United have been beaten at Karaiskakis stadium for the champions league, also West Ham and Burnley for the Europa League. Liverpool's game against Olympiacos in 2005 is probably the most memorable for the club in this century (probably together with the 4-0 against Barcelona). Olympiacos would go through to the quarter-finals even by losing with one goal differnece, we took the lead with Rivaldo at half time before Liverpool put an epic come back in the second half to win 3-1 and lift the trophy in Instabul with that 3-3 against Milan. Please put some respect.

Talksport's take on this result was embarrassing and completely disrespectful to Olympiakos.
Why would Villa with a threadbare squad, a 2 goal deficit and a poor away record in Europe this season have the devine right to go to one of the toughest grounds in Europe and roll over an Olympiakos led by last season's Europa League winning coach?
I've really got respect for Villa fans who have all been really gracious in defeat. Its exactly the same narrative they have to go through when they beat the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool or City. It's never about what they did right...the narrative is how much the bigger club bottled it.
How about Olympiakos won because they were the better team over the two legs? A team with vast amounts of experience of playing in Europe every single season, historically always in the Champions League and with knockout European football virtually every season.

Olympiakos have been playing in Europe the past 30 years without fail (most of them in the Champions league) Villa have done well this year and the Premier league is by far the best in the world.
Besides that Olymiakos was the better team over the 2 legs won the tie 6-2 and there is nothing to argue about that.....
Further more what wins games is goals and not possession ......
The Greek site played with a very specific game plane and allowed Villa to have the ball but as we saw in the second leg more than the first the could do nothing with that

Also you have to credit Emery for never complaining about the injuries that have decimated the Villa squad. Look at the bench for that game in Athens. I'm a Villa fan and there were a couple of kids in there that I'd never heard of.
This is a team literally running on fumes but you'll never hear it used as an excuse. At the end of the day Olympiacos were the better team over the two legs. Congratulations to them. As for Villa, it's a great learning experience. Onwards and upwards!!

Against English teams we nearly eliminated Liverpool (the reigning European champions) in the champions league 2004 season, Manchester United in the champions league 2016 season at the round of 16, eliminated Arsenal in Europa League in 2020 season, and huge wins against top clubs, so i think you guys should respect other teams, ok yeah you have a lot of money to spend on transfers and all but you must learn to be humble first and foremost. Then again Villa fans are really respectful so this goes only to the radio talk show or whatever that is, and good luck to Villa on their way to the Champions League next season.

Olympiakos finished third in their Europa League group and were given a second chance to compete, as was co-finalist Fiorentina. Villa were completing against a Europa League team. They are in those competitions year after year, Villa were in their first in 13 years. In the group stages Villa had many shaky moments, due to it being their first time in the competition. They fought through and made it to the semis. That's credit to them. Experience? Pep failed in quarterfinals, Arteta failed in quarterfinals, Klopp failed in quarterfinals, Moyes failed in quarterfinals. All that experience and they still lost. As the saying goes, "Past performance is no guarantee of future results." We reset. We go again in Europe next season. Up the Villa.

So Olympiacos has 24 participations in Champions League, played 158 games, has 59 wins 69 defeat and 30 draws with g a 197-240 . In the Europa League has 11 participations, 24 wins, 26 defeats and 16 draws with g a 90-81. I m just giving modern Era stats, ok? Also Olympiacos is one of the the founder members of the European Club Association along with Juventus, Chelsea, Man United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern etc. Aston Villa wasn't eliminated by some nobody,, ok? Just chill and listen to Emery. He s a great coach and for me experience in Europe comes with consistency and years. Take care guys

As an ympiacos fan I will say that as a fan of football the mistake that Aston Villa did is that underestimate Olympiacos, which will be in a certain degree total acceptable but when everyone underestimate their opponent is a crave mistake. We can't take all the Villa achieved and had in their season. About tiredness my team still play even some weeks before the first matches to enet Europa league or Champions league or conference. Aston Villa next year would be in Champions League.

Villa have been decimated by long term injuries to several key players. Losing Kamara in particular has really hurt them. Their bench yesterday was a bunch of kids. They've had a great season and can still qualify for the Champions League, which will help them attract more elite players this summer. Their owners voted against the salary cap proposal which is a serious indication of what their intentions are and what their spending power is.

can we just say it how it was... Villa have had bad injury issues and has in return caused us not to be able to rotate our team, therefore tiredness was a huge issue and has been in the issue over the last 6 to 8 games... also Olympiacos took advantage of this and played some great football/tactics so deserved to win. end of.

The only disappointment I had with the second leg (the first was a write off bearing in mind the good performance from Olympiakos' midfield and striker, and the atrocious performance of the ref, and a miserable day for Luiz), was the fact that second half we didn't look anywhere close to scoring. First half, I thought we were in with a good chance even at a goal down, and that we'd turn the screw second half. But it went backwards.
