All of the seeds scattered now are VERY COLD HARDY. They are not heat tolerant. They need cool soil and air temperatures.

Can I cover my seeds with mulched leaves? Just to not leave the ground bare.

No they need light to germinate.

@@BrieThePlantLady Thanks. Also, do I need to cover them when it will be under 30° overnight?

I have tried to get larkspur and poppy to grow in ground but have had little success. Not sure what I’m doing wrong but I can grow them in pots. 😊

Hello Brie and happy new year. I would love to direct sow poppies and larkspur this year, but I live in western Colorado, zone 7a. We only get 8 to 10 inches of precip per year and irrigate everything we grow. My question is, should I wait until March to direct sow? I am new to your Channel and really enjoy your videos. Thank you!

Happy new year!! I don’t feel comfortable giving specific advice for a region I’ve never lived/ gardened in. I’d look for a local resource (extension service) to get timing information. The process is the same but I’m not sure when is best in your area.
