actually, it's meant to make the monster staggered longer. If the monster moves to its side and looks at his side, it gets staggered for a short time. Clutch Clawing makes it staggered again. See his animation. Every monster has this starting from Iceborne by the way
the method is known as "clagger" clutch claw stagger, it doubles the amount of time they remain staggered giving you a fairly large period of downtime. so long as they are in the animation where the monster spits up a shit ton of saliva and looks at you from the side, hit them with a clutch claw and jump off for dps
Not sure if I am right here but I heard you need to do a certain amount of fire/ice (depending on form) elemental damage to topple. Maybe he didn’t topple because his weapon didn’t do that much elemental damage and just had a lot of raw
For the majority of the fight he had dragon blight which negates his elemental attack. He’s also using the Fatalis GS which already has low Dragon element, and he doesn’t have any Dragon Attack skills other than the one element augment. Alatreon also takes reduced elemental damage from Dragon compared to Fire/Ice depending on the quest.
We all agree that MH Rise NOT maximized to its' FULL POTENTIAL due to Nin Switch limitations (remember Rise was exclusive title to Switch) . I mean we never fought amazing monsters like Alatreon and Fatalis in RiSe/Sunbreak , yeah we got Amatzu, but that fight is not as good as them. F U GREEDY NINTENDO
risen shagaru magala is my equivalent to alatreon easily, Id say there was no fatalis equivalent to be 100% honest, but definitely alatreon Also Valstrax to me is fucking amazing, he's a literal god made Fighter jet dragon.

It's the Alatreon Greatsword layered weapon. You need the Dragonsphire, and a Great Spiritvein Gem and a couple other things.
