I work for a pool company that uses Hayward products. We are consistently shocked at the prices for lighting.. one customer had a pair of he big lamps ($1500 CAD each) that’s like buying a winter beater. The only way to get those lights to survive is to take them out every winter and make sure they are stored in a warm place. You really aren’t supposed to open them- although you probably could find a way in. The new colorlogic ones that look like a flashlight on a cord are absolutely awesome. Top choice for a nice pool! We had a customer once run like 7 of them in a smaller L shaped pool, when on the rainbow show it was awesome to see all the colours going at night.
I feel your pain guys. My first ClolorLogic lasted 3.5 years. Second one, 2.5. You may need to dry out that light for a week or two. If it does reboot, try refilling that cutout with marine epoxy with at least 3000 PSI. Maybe push a tiny piece of butyl tape into the small hole to prevent the epoxy from dripping into unit. If it's totally fried, suggest bailing on the super expensive Hayward and Pentaire color LEDs. Instead, get a standard 12V Incandescent fixture (such as a Halco/J&J TPL-P12-300-100) and then replace the bulb with a color changing LED. You can find them all over pool sites and Amazon for 100 bucks. This way when leaks inevitably happen, just buy a new bulb. Good luck!
removed plug from weep hole, shook out as much water as I could and let sit for a few days and its now working again. Still moisture inside the light but it does not seem to impact the function. Wish I knew who to open it up to dry it out completely. Have thought about enlarging the weep hole to facilitate drying it out.
I am currently fixing mine. I found there was a trace amount of moisture in the lens. I covered it and dried it out for a week on the pool deck and it’s working just fine now. To be sure it’s dry in there, I have put it in a bucket with a cup of damp rid for another week to make sure the inside dries out. The bucket is sealed with multiple layers of cling wrap to seal off a dry area in the bucket. I will then seal the weep hole with a thin strip waterproof gorilla tape covered by a thick layer of Maine epoxy to make sure this seal doesn’t leak again. I will update once the light is reinstalled.
Thank you for the drying information. I've been drying mine for a few days. Used a shop vac to suck out most of the water but the moisture is still there. I put it in a bucket with rice to pull moisture. Still have some. I will try the damp rid.
Took the two LED LPCUS11100 out after they died 6 months ago. Saw that there was moisture behind the lens and removed the rubbery piece covering the weep hole in the back of the lights. After one week, they began to turn on intermittently. I'm going to wait until they stay on as they are currently programmed to stay on, before sealing the weep hole. I'm going to use marine grade silicone. Any suggestions?
I have the same problem. They light up but the water inside must get the bulb wet and makes the shut off. I’d like to take them out and dry them but once I pop the light out, the cord that I see is so short. Are you guys pulling the cord out from behind the pool to get it up onto the deck?
It is missing part 3 :/). Did it work after you let the water out and out marine epoxy back ? I have the same light and the same problem. A little bit of water inside 😱😱😱😱
there a 4 slots on the front that you can see. take 2 flat head screwdrivers put them in across from eachother and then turn the cover to the right counter clock wise ,
From my research it appears these lights are not supposed to be opened ever. Not sure why they have the weep hole but it does allow one to drain water when it ultimately fails. I would love to switch to a different light but I have the spa light in the same brand so I feel stuck with having to replace this one.
Same issue, with the weep hole uncovered I used my air compressor to dry the inside of the lens out. Seems to work now, good luck folks. I will let you know how lucky I get
you don't remove it from the light. If replacing the light then cut the cord at the light and attach old cable to new cable and pull in the new cable from the other end (where the old cable connects to transformer).

Do you have any recommendations for a cheaper replacement that will fit in the same niche?

I had the same issue. What about using Flex Seal.

Has anyone found a light that fits in the Hayward Niche? I would rather not have to DIY hack this fix.

Did you solve the problem and is the light working again?

Any updates on your lights? Still working? Thanks

Both of my lights went at 14 months old. LPCUS11100 Hayward. Moisture inside both. Clearly, a MFR defect. Drying them out now- Lets see what happens.
Ours lasted 3 years. Did it ever start working again?

Can anyone post a picture of the inlet box cause I need to figure out how to use it with new manufacturer which needs a screw at top to mount to box
My ColorLogic lasted for three years. It still lights, but is very dim. I refuse to pay the inflated price for a replacement from Hayward.
Did you ever find a solution?
Does anyone know how to put it back into the niche? Mine keeps popping off
Looking for an update? Anyone successful in drying it out? How does one get the epoxy out?
that little piece of epoxy fell out after an hr out of the water but mine dried out still does not work
I have this same stupid light . 2nd time I need to replace at 1k a pop
How did you get the light out.mine has the same clips I guess

Same problem 🤷♀️

Any news? Stuck on a job site LOL - and hey, don't sweat it! Nobody knows how to take these apart LOL

Hi any updates on how to open?
Did u ever find out ???
@@pablocarreon7039 no we never figured out how to open it. My husband ended up replacing it himself with one he bought from Amazon.
Some body knows how to remove the cord, I am trying and don’t know how to do it please if somebody knows please let me know, thank you

@@ND2380-d3o do you have to drain the pool to do this?
Screw hayward I'm done with em too expensive to replace so I'm gonna swap out with new manufacturer
Which manufacturer did you go with? Does your new light fit in the Hayward niche?

What did you go with and how did you make it fit the niche designed only for these awful Hayward lights?
how? Your opening in the pool wall was made specifically for Hayward, no?
Has ANYONE found an aftermarket light to fit the insanely shallow 4” Hayward box? @@crystalcollins3638
