It's a matter of taste, but I love her deep voice. It's particularly refreshing since there are so many idols these days who have thin, airy voices. There's something about a deep voice like Hi's. It certainly adds depth to whatever song she sings. Her pronunciation of English is actually very good, considering the fact that she's a native Korean who has never lived overseas. So her accent is fine for me (and she's even gotten better since this performance).

And, actually, Hi's phrasing, enunciation and pronounciation are much clearer and emotionally in tune with the wistful meaning of the song. "Now you're gone, what am I gonna do...so empty, my heart, my soul...can't go on..." Hi really draws you right into those words with her emotive style. You're bias simply sings those lines with the same cheerful. birthday party style that runs through that whole performance. But I won't go on with my critique... Just go and enjoy your bias. She's cool.

I am probably Yerin biased so I do prefer hers - both were so young when they sang this, I'd love to see a current cover. I can see that Lee Hi's control is so much better now. I tried not to but deep down I still wonder who did this song more justice. I'm a hardcore HaYi's fan so... But 1 thing I realized was Yerin sang it perfectly like a teenage girl in puppy love while there's something about HaYi's voice that carries the torn heart of a mature woman in this song. Like singing with a bottle of vodka and drunk reasoning her way out of it.

I think Lee Hayi has more potential to be a Kpop star than Lee Ji Min in terms of looks and the way she carries herself and her voice is lovely and very unique, has a bit of the whole package going on. But Park Ji Min deserved to win because her singing is far stronger and her presence on stage is far more natural and expressive, her improvement through this show was incredible.

The difference between with YG and JYP is that JYP makes Hayi show what people expects from her and were she's good at (which is good but can make people become bored eventually) while YG wants her to explore more, try other genre, challenge herself and not settle for things that she already did (which I think is the harder way but have much better result in the long run). I think YG is disappointed that Hayi doesn't show much improvement lately, it's still the same old style HAYI.
why compare her with the origin?? she was just 17 that time.. techniques can be taught, it was her pure talent that shocked everyone~ is not that easy to sing with those dynamic, is not common among Asians..

And YG does it to help her to learn something out of the last performance and grow. So, you will feel like 'Next time I'm gonna prove him wrong by owning it' Let's wait for this week performance before drawing conclusions.
