JUNE 16, 2024: Of all the crime scenes seared in the memory of retiring Deputy Police Commissioner Fitz Bailey, none has shaken the father of three more than the 2022 Cocoa Piece massacre in which a mother and her four children were slaughtered by a relative.
“I went to the scene. I just glimpsed. I just couldn’t stand to see what existed there,” he told The Sunday Gleaner last Friday.
Such gruesome scenes place a psychological burden on investigators, who probe an average 1,300 murders and countless shootings and other crimes committed in Jamaica annually.

I like the way he express himself and the way he feels about his children out in the public . The intire justice system , people that are in that field should at least experience what is out there . These kind of crime seen and the traumer , the pain for people loosing their love one as well people that inside the higher government too such as who making the laws . One of the reasons that Jamaica has such a high crime rate is because most of the perpetrators grew up with no fathers. There are many many young men out on the streets with no fathers at home or the fathers don’t show their sons love.

While there are many with fathers who decide that's what they want to do. There are so many without fathers who have chosen good
Some parents help to contribute to the crime because they themselves are lawless.

Police are humans too infact all law enforcement officers are humans with families
Being an ex member of the Jamaican fire brigade I have seen a lot of carnage car accidents decomposing bodies etc that shit stays with me until today after 12 years of service it’s no different from being in the police force… sometimes I wake up with nightmares sometimes you can’t even explain…
Not to "to do your thing" but to conduct the autopsy. Record your questions beforehand .

Happy Father's Day Mr. Bailey. Thanks much for your hard work in trying to keep Ja. at least somewhat safe. Some of the gruesome crimes traumatized me from a distance. I can't imagine the ppl who have to see and touch them, and not to mention the families!
It's kind of funny with the Father's day vs. Mother's day....Then mother's day is also first! There are some factors which might contribute to fathers getting less attention. One is, there are many more mothers than fathers in Ja. Other factors like monetary may play a role. The fact that mothers day comes first might result in less money or no money to spend on fathers. However, everyone can agree that Mother's day do get far more attention than Father's day.
