That little tab on the battery area is for weather sealing circuit protection, to disable the camera in case the battery door is not there to weather seal the body. I broke one off my BG-E14 & it disabled the camera from working with the grip.
U forgot to show how to fix the lid on the battery grip. Otherwise u loose it. The lid has to be placed on the vertical handle of the grip. Hope it helps.
Got it for my R6 as well. Having issues charging in body( multiple USB C sources, still no charging illuminationon on the grip). Any tips would be very helpful. Thank you for your time and effort.
I tried the same thing as well with no luck. It looks like there is a special power adapter called the Canon PD-E1 which apparently is only a battery charger while the camera is off. I also am not sure if this is only for the eos R. I didn’t see on the canon site if this works with the R6 or the R5. Also for $190 it is really steep of a price tag for a battery charger. I thought it would be easier to power the camera through usb but apparently not. Sorry I don’t have a better answer for you. If you find a good solution I would love to know.
@@cosminfs1467 Thanks for your reply. I haven't been successful in charging the battery through USB. If you have a link to a particular charger that works I would really appreciate you dropping it in a comment. Thanks so much!!
Also, fwiw, both batteries must be the most recent version of the battery. Old batteries will drive the camera, but for the "grip" functions, you must use the the most recent version of the battery.
Thanks so much for your comment. I noticed the same thing when I looked closer at it. This little feature shows how deeply Canon was thinking when they made this grip.
i own one for my r5 and noticed a cracking squeaking sound while holding it in portrait (basically holding on to the battery grip with my right hand and on the lens with me left), has anyone else noticed something similar? i am thinking about visiting the retailer I bought the grip, but wanted to know if its something that everyone knows about and I simply learned about it while doing my research :)
@@poutineitup9510 on a Second R5 the sound was also there (at least nothing my camera caused xD), they ordered me a new grip that should arrive at their location on friday, I will post if the new one does the same :)
Your video went on too long for just a battery grip.....too much time talking about the paperwork that came with the device that made the video a bit boring. Thanks for posting in anyway.
bloody hell, what a load of waffle. this could have been over in less than 10 minutes with the all important disseminated, but 31 minutes!! 7 minutes before you even see the grip. Who cares what the box is like? 10 minutes describing all the other grips you've had for other cameras!! Just keep it to the essential stuff please.

Oh wow thanks so much for that info. I’m so sorry about the flap and it broke your grip. I hope Canon will help you out to get it working again.
@@poutineitup9510 I got a new grip & camera as it was insured (I dropped it) so was all good :)
@@returntohome330 glad to hear it worked out :) it is heart breaking to see your expensive camera crash to the floor.

Are you aware that you can charge the battery via USB only with a charger capable of PD (power delivery), and using a USB-C to USB-C cable?

Awesome review!❤
Thanks for the kind words :)
There is a place on the grip to host the camera door.

I haven’t noticed on mine. Mine seems rock solid. Good luck with your’s. Let me know what they say.

The batteries load from side to side, not end to end.
Thanks so much for the info

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it. I’ll try to keep things more concise.
No AA battery cartridge with this grip?
I don’t think it came with one.
