  • Banana plugs make speaker installation a breeze. They are designed for use with amplifiers or speakers that use traditional binding posts. Not only is it easier to make the connection on the back of your amp, it is safer, with no chance of stray wire strands creating a short across contacts. These high quality plugs are the closed screw type and can accept bare wire or spades. They are sized to fit speaker wire from 12 to 18 AWG. Each pair comes with one plug color coded red and the other coded black, for easy polarity identification. The plug body is made of brass, which is then plated with gold to help prevent corrosion and ensure smooth connections. This multi-pack includes five pairs of plugs, perfect for connecting the satellite and center channel speakers in a 5.1 channel setup!

    Thanks. I got the Monoprice pin connectors and of course didn't come with instructions. These are different than the Monster connectors I used years ago, so the part about bending the tip to hold the wire in the connector is what I needed to understand.

    also adding thanks for the bending out the wire strands tip .... tip. I have had a set cutting in and out for a while now and that is all going to be fixed in about ten minutes

    Give the strippers a quick half turn on the wire before stripping it. It gives you a cleaner strip and the insulation comes of with less effort.

    Got a question...what if you cannot connect the upper part of the plug to the bottom part...in other words I cannot completely close the plugs...there's a gap so the plugs are not completely connected to both parts of the plug...will that affect speaker performance?

    I purchased these, they will not work with 12 gauge even though they are marketed for 12.

    Unfortunately, my wire won't fit inside the plug. Its not even a big gauge, the sheathing is just thick.

    • @EveryDayJay415
      @EveryDayJay415  Год назад

      Hmm I would try to shave some of it off with a knife or razor blade, just be careful, you can also use wire strippers set to a larger gauge so it only strips the sheathing.

      @@EveryDayJay415 I just compared to the product images on Amazon, along with customer's pictures, and it seems the pair I got aren't the ones I ordered, the hole seems significantly smaller, the threads are different, and mine don't screw the actual plug off... Will have to return them, honestly I never even swap speakers or anything so I might as well stick with bare wire. Thanks anyway.

      You can do that too just be sure nothing is touching, I swap stuff around weekly so they are handy for me.
      I’ve used a few different kinds I’ll have to make a video for each.

    I am doing exactly this and I can't even get the connector over the folded wire to screw it together.

    • @EveryDayJay415
      @EveryDayJay415  2 года назад +1

      Did you make sure that the wire is not hanging over on to the threaded part? Most issues are because there is too much/ not enough exposed wire folder over the lip. It's a bit of an art to getting them right, but once. you get a hang of it it's easy to eyeball it.
