I'm an American from Chicago, Illinois who spent 2 months in the UK for a vacation. I was really surprised at the varieties of English that I heard. I couldn't understand a single word in Newcastle, but in Devon they sounded like they were from the American Midwest. I loved hearing all these accents. I hope they will never die. By the way, your American accent is excellent. Cheers!
E Mack Devon in the south west of the uk?
carp magic. Yes. Very beautiful country, and great food!
what uk accent did u like most of the ones your herd
There were so many variations, and they all had their own appeal. I like the accent in Manchester - very lilting and musical, but I couldn't understand anyone in Newcastle. The Yorkshire accent was odd, reminding me almost of a Scandinavian accent.
E Mack Divin't worry, mate, half of people in Newcastle can't understand each other. I should know, I'm from there.
DAMN! she is GORGEOUS
Ygritte is alive and doing accent videos!
Say "You know nothing, John Snow."
Oh god this so much this
I was thinking the exact same thing
I was thinking the exact same thing
Jaann Snaaaw!!
She had more of a Lancastrian accent.
Oh wow, the Yorkshire accent is the hottest accent ever. I love it.
LemonZeppelin Sounds a tinge like Scottish but comprehensible.
LemonZeppelin newcastle
rahman maricaar I am from Newcastle, the accent is annoying to me. But I've heard it for 20+ years.
Did u no that English is hardest language to learn
Kyleigh Borden it isn't,
Finally Yorkshire youtuber :3 yayy...

+Shann Maire Bleedin is now
Your American accent is not as good as you think. You sound very British doing it. You can't tell because you're not American.
Joker Certain words give her away as a Brit. It's still not as bad as most Americans doing a British accent.
+Shann Maire You know nothjing, Jon Snow!
+Shann Maire We Yanks attempting a British accent often over-do it. The British (or English) accent is much more subtle than the exaggerated British accent that Americans come up with.
I just want to say...you did an AMAZING job on your eye makeup!
I'm from Bradford and it's actually amazing how different the accents are for being so close!
***** You might be surprised to know (I agree with you by the way.) that the Scouse accent is relatively new. It was a Lancashire accent until the influx of large numbers of Irish folks whose accent combined with Lankie sounds to make Scouse. About the time of the Potato Famine, I think.T'rrah Lah.
***** Hi..Well I'm a Manc. who worked as a Field Service engineer in M/side (Scouselandia) from mid sixties to eighties and the accent has changed from then to now.
Yes..Sir Paul does have the Mersey sound from the days when was there.
In my work I made lots of Scouse friends especially when I told them that I didn't follow football. They didn't like it but at least it meant that I wasn't a MUFC supporter.
In fun, they made me an Honorary Scouse but with the stern warning "Don't try the accent! '
A tip: If you want the user name of your recipient to appear in blue, at the beginning
of your message, use the reply symbol which appears on the right when your cursor moves over the message to which you wish to answer. That allows him/her to see what is addressed to himself.
Very interesting about an ancient Scottish border. Must look how far south it was.
Old Hadrian put a swift stop to that!
Regards.
I go to school in Bradford but live in the middle of Bradford and Leeds so mines like a mix?....
Very interesting Luke.
With your local and detailed knowledge, you will hear very fine differences in very small changes in location, which I can't!
I however, a Red Roser interested in dialects and accents, can hear the difference between West Riding, Hull and eg. Redcar but not the finer points that you can hear between Bradford and Leeds.
I knew some folks in Dorset, who couldn't tell the difference between Geordie, Yorkshire, Lancashire accents, at all!
The BBC drama departments in turn, haven't a clue..the faintest clue...They have a
general-purpose, North Country accent and even that they don't get right. Long posh 'A"s and 'H's which should be dropped creep in. No idea how to drop a T.
Great to learn of your interested in accents...
Reckon you know a lot more than I do.
You're a young guy so you may have to look up some of my next bit to you.
During the war, the BBC decided to have a famous Yorkshire entertainer, read the National news throughout the land.
The idea was that the transmissions which could reach Germany, would not be understood by German listeners because he had a (not very heavy) Yorkshire accent. His name, now long dead, was Wilfred Pickles. Look him up!
What the BBC idiots of the time failed to realise was that the accent and lots of the very language, was originated by invasion, many centuries earlier of hordes of Germans .. Angles and Saxons who brought their language with them, leaving those nice Yorkshire Tykes to develop it, for Lancashire and eventually the rest the country, into the early version of ENGLISH.
Germans would have less difficulty with The News than posh London accents
Good luck with your education..It's in YOUR hands. Grab whatever comes your way.
Regards from Red Rose land.
***** The BBC have broad Mancunians playing people from Bradford. Probably all to do with their diversity quota, there's only so many Tykes they can cast in the same show!
I could listen to you speak all day. By far my most favorite of all worldly accents
From an American, your American accent is very convincing. Although something about the way you said "cancer" sounds not quite American. But mostly it's spot on.
Can-sah, everytime I play it back you can still hear the lack of emphasis on the R's. Not bad, but I'd peg it as either a traveler on holiday or a new resident who is adapting.
Was it a bit too "flat"? To me the American version sounds like "kaynsaur" while this one rather "kensah". Sorry if it sounds silly, my native language is Russian and I'm trying to figure out how to stop adopting whatever English pronounciation I've last heard and try to stick to a certain accent. It's very interesting to listen to all these videos and read the comments. By the way, Russian language is much more unified, it's the same everywhere. However, when a person from a distant region comes to my city, they tend to laugh in a pretty irritating way at our way of talking. And can never explain why.
Most Americans will say "Can-sur," although in the New England states you will find many who say it the same way she did. In the Midwestern U.S. they might stress they "can" part more making it sound like "cay-an." However that is far less common.
Local dialect in the U.S. has numerous variations in tone/inflection which is another reason why there is no such thing as a single American accent.
I'm from Tulsa, Oklahoma, US, heard your American accent, and thought it was great. Yeah, I think you rock at it too. P.S., I'm a big fan of the Yorkshire dialect. I love the sound! There's a bit of sass in it I think - something an American can appreciate. Ta from the other side of the pond!
As an American learning an Yorkshire accent. That was great
I freaking love your accent! It's so cute!
Yeah!! I love this vid, Yorkshire accent is the best! ^_^ plus ur stunning ! ;*
A beautiful woman showing off a beautiful accent, my day is complete. Cheers from the USA!
"what do you call when you throw toilet paper over someones house?"
"vandalism???"
that fucking got me. could not stop laughing. american accent was pretty good, except "presumably".
Buried deep in the comments here, I know, but your "American accent" truly is spot-on. I'm from an "accent-free" region of the U.S. (meaning our newscasters try to sound like me if they don't already), and you'd pass here in a heartbeat. Keep up the good work!
I'm here bc I wanna understand what the boy I like is talking
Oh he's from Yorkshire? I bet he's really good looking huh?😊😊😊
+Kiara Thompson yup
Alan West lol what no I don't even like Zayn
Louis speaks more like this
Does he fuck. Louis sounds like a South Yorkshire puff with his high pitched voice. Zayn sounds more like AlyBongo as he's from West Yorkshire, just like she is
I have lost count of how many times I have watched this video because I love it so much. She is so cute! I also love her accent, I was wondering what a Yorkshire accent was, so I searched it and found this video and I'm so glad I did. Not only is it a beautiful accent, but I can't imagine finding a more perfect video, anyway, I love this girl and I can't wait to watch more of her videos.
Am I the only one who's here because I wanna talk like Louis Tomlinson? xD
SAME
I am British but not from Doncaster I have a London accent. I want Louis accent

This made my day. You're so lively, it's contagious.
"You know nothing, Jon Snow"
Love how you say naturally!
Im living in Wakefield, and is difficult understand this accent, specially when u re stranger. Isn't the "standar english" that we learnt at school. But I really like the accent, is a challenge for me. Good video!
I bloody love your accent! Yorkshire is fantastic.
Luv Yorkie accent !!!! hard for me to understand cause i learnt the neutral or BBC accent. Regards from a guy from Buenos aires
I think I love you.
Your American is quite good, but your Yorkshire's starting to show.
Your Valley Girl, though, as a girl born & raised in SoCal, is spot on.
Thanks for posting this! This was a blast to watch!
Wow, you sound like a totally different person with the american accent. English is not my first language, and I´ve got to say is really easier to understand what you´re saying when you put that fancy american accent. But personally I like the Yorkshire much more, even that I don´t get half of the things haha Yorkshire rocks!
I just finished my MA at York and am so sad that I had to leave. This video made me so happy, it reminds me of my English 'home' and all the great friends I made there. Thank you!
The Yorkshire accent is so attractive :)
This was so fun to watch.
I'm American and I think your accent kicks ass.
It's so neat hearing you call American an accent though. Makes the world seem so much bigger. So happy I found ya on youtube.
Much love from the states!
:)
Come to America and marry me. You can say aluminum however you want.
Did she come? Lol
@@death.for.breakfast No, but the offer is still on the table.
@@jlkoelker Atta boy
LOL love the ending! " fuck amrerican im a proud yorkshire girl and its yourkshire day!! " thats the spirit!! =P
Your American accent was pretty good, very west coast, but still detected your Yorkshire/English accent in some words (cancer, but) btw, you're absolutely beautiful, just saying :)
Yeah, I noticed it most in the vowels. But the consonants were very good and if I hadn't just heard the yorkshire accent I might not have noticed as much
OMG I'm from Boston, and I must give you, that YES, your American accent is perfect! Very impressive, and it freaked me out to experience my perception of you personality completely change as you read the passage again that way. You rock!
Well at least you didn't do the almost incomprehensible country Yorkshire accent w/ Middle English words. ;)
Spot on Yorkshire girl, love you people. I sometimes really admire how passionate you are about being from Yorkshire and instead of a trip to foreign countries some of them lads I know would just rather have a go to Scarborough or beautiful countryside.
Bradford born and bred..........I love Yorkshire!!!!!!!
Same.
yep its a shithole
Why do I love this accent so much
british accent is beauty, and yorkshire the best ! Ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! American is always hmmm ordinary and expressionless :)
but when I moved to Leeds I had trouble understanding this accent.and I missed American English but now I cant listen to it :)
Gotta admit, you DID rock the American accent! Your voice gets softer, but still...nailed it.
Depression is a side effect of having a mental illness.
Super Stannis Baratheon the First of His Name King of Westeros, Protector of the Relm, Supermannis +NoOneLikesGoogleFuckingPlus I like both of your names lol like plus plus
You're video made me laugh so much! I'm from Yorkshire too! :) My friends (in London) take the piss when I say Box instead of TV remote! Glad I'm not the only one!
If Donald trump wins I am moving to Yorkshire
If Donald J Trump wins you are going back to the Third World, where you belong.

Yeah, your General American accent rocked! Even your Valley Girl accent was well done. You'd fit in very well over here in the States. Not really sure where Yorkshire is, but I love your accent. (I'm assuming it's in England. I just don't know what part.) I need a map.
***** My great-grandma was from Halifax. Is that in that region? Is this the accent she would have had?
Gregory Ward Yeah it's in West Yorkshire and not far from Leeds so the accent is pretty similar.
Ay up lass.... I'm from Leeds but now living in Wakey.... Loving the videos... Keep um coming....
All reet off nahhh....
Why is it easier for Brits to emulate American accent but isn't the opposite?
Rachid Abdesselam lol most of us can is kinda easy to do a american accent anyways lol
because american spawned from british accents I guess.
*****
Take that back, or I will be seeing you in the parking lot with my AR 15
Maybe for you it's hard, but I talk in a British accent with all my Brit friends on skype/teamspeak all the time. I can do a chav pretty damn good and a few others.
When I do proper ones though I kinda flow between the different areas, trying to work on staying in one area of an accent for them. Some Brit accents annoy the hell out of me though. Love the Yorkshire accent though.
Good on you pal,I want to learn to emulate other accents properly too..although I have made it my mission to at least learn 4 languages in my life, accents in my own language would be great to master:)
HEY your American accent is EXCELLENT!! :D Dead serious, you're dead on!
I came here just for Zayn Malik how else 😝 ?
Love watching these vids. I'm from Doncaster and I like seeing peoples reactions to our accents :')
Leeds leeds leeds x
I'm american and I like the Leeds accent the best 'cause that is where Mel B is from.
Phaze1 Files Also the Kaiser Chiefs!

Bradford whoooooooo
+myne lyne I'm a Bradford lass 😂
Bradford is a shit hole and the capital of Pakistan
You literally have the best American accent I've heard from someone with a different one. (Coming from someone currently residing in the U.S)
You're hot. Not typical of english women
You're grammatically correct, not typical of an American.
What do you know about English women be realllllll
You sound exactly like Ygritte and you got the perfect haircolour too
Your American accent was pretty convincing, but there was a word or two where the most subtlest of brit came through.
oh my gosh. Your American accent was Prefect. i can't explain it in any other words.
You sound like you're from Lancashire . . .this is not how people speak where i am from in W Yorkshire
Same, I live in Leeds and nobody sounds like this. Definitely sounds like she's from Lancashire
Ahmazing Luke Funny I'm from Leeds and I reckon she def sounds very yorkshire and typical leeds.
Lancs put a log of emphasis on G in words, 'Ya know that thinGGGGG OOOOver thur' sort of thing, but we do sound similar to lancs in some ways, most of my brothers mates are lancs since he goes to bolton uni, this lass sounds like nothing like that I dont think lol
Sophie Foster I'm from west Yorkshire too :D and yeah, she does speak ever so slightly differently
Sophie Foster sounds like a Leeds accent to me.
+Benji banjo my accent is a deep Leeds/Wakefield accent. I'm saying Wakefield because my dad is from Wakefield and because people from there have quite deep voices.
You're so funny!!! Love your accents!!
I can literally spend the rest of my life listening to you speak.. :) my god!
I have been living in Nottinghamshire for 6 months and I love this accent!!!!!!
My secondary school English/drama teacher who I had(still have!) a crush on had this type of accent and I don’t even know why but it’s so nice to hear😍😂😂
Vandalism hahahaha.
The American accent reading was spot on! Other than "presumably"! (:
I'm a yank, lived in York as a kid. Yorkshire is luvly and, yes, you do rock the American. Thanks for reminding me how pretty Yorkshire is.
I absolutely adore the Yorkshire accent.
your Yorkshire accent is awesome!
Did not expect this but your accent is fucking addictive to listen too!!
I am an American living in rural Tennessee. The way you pronounce words seems normal to me. Except for aluminum, the words are pronounced the way we say them in Tennessee. I think some of the early settlers in Tennessee must have been from Yorkshire.
Canadians sound like some parts of uk but almost every city in uk got a different accent some even i can't understand being from Yorkshire lol
I so love the Yorkshire accent!
Your American accent was actually pretty good! I'm from rochester, New York so take my word for it.
You are just perfect haha. I love your hair, your eyebrows are excellent, you're gorgeous, you're hilarious, you have the best accent, and you are very smart.
Your Leeds pokes through here and there, but the American accent is pretty good.
My jaw dropped when you started speaking with an American accent. It was spot on!
you absolutely did rock that American accent! spot-on. nice video. :)
Dont have a clue how I ended up on Yorkshire accents. I am from same area as you and to listen to someone talk and point out things in our accent is funny good job love
I'm in love.
I looked up Yorkshire accent for accent study and found your video here. This is entertaining. Your American accent is spot on! Yes, you do rock at it. lol (American here hehe)
I'll follow u just because I really need understand ur accent. I'll move to Leeds in march 2015 from italy :O Your accent is so impressionant!
I found this video while looking for an example of a Yorkshire accent for a monologue that I'm doing and let me say I am more than amused. You are very funny and your American dialect rocks (from an midwestern American) thank you for making me laugh @GoAlybongo
The way you say "remert" (remote), "serda" (soda), "I don't ner" (I don't know) sounds almost more like a Hull accent, but other things you say are pure Leeds. Have you spent time in Hull, or have Hull relatives?
Loved the answer to what is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house. Vandalism???😂😂😂
Woah, as an American you nailed that, nice job!
I just moved to yorkshire about 3 months ago and i love the accent now that I can finally understand it! :D
She's gorgeous!!
That American accent is flawless save for the beautifully clear enunciation., most Americans don't sound that good.
Your American accent is really good. I also love your Yorkshire accent
Aly, you ROCK. End of story.
your accent range is quite remarkable
My boyfriend is originally from Sheffield but has lived in Surrey for most of his life. He has lost most of his Yorkshire accent and sounds like he's from the London area now. I never knew that the dialects between both places were so different as I am American. But then again, I'm sure he didn't realize (or realise, lol) that my accent is your "typical" American accent as I'm from Tennessee and have what we call a southern accent. It's kind of fun listening to each other's accents because they're so different. I have a feeling that I may have to be translator between him and my family when he comes to visit on Thursday... lol
Thats right.Accents differ here in the USA! Even between here in New England. Massachusetts and New Hampsha! (Ayuh,by jeeze have some Lobstah in Maine) lol.I dated a girl from Norwich,UK and she had a great accent.
Fuckin yes the Yorkshire accent. Good to see you're bringin pride to my people.
i fell in love instantly.
