    It's sad seeing such well built homes in such an awful state of disrepair. You really can feel the desire to think what this city used to be like in its heyday. Lots of rust belt cities look this way sadly.

      You are right and that IS the intent. Much of the video is from years ago, mixed in with new video. Some of those areas NO LONGER look like that any longer and have been demolished years ago. I did Google some of the neighborhoods that he has from previous videos and Google showed that those homes NO LONGER exist. Detroit has funding approved by the voters to demolish these old homes and blighted areas.

    I feel badly for Charlie. The day is coming, when there will be fewer of these houses to video record. Charlie may be forced to record videos of neighborhoods improving in Detroit. The Packard plant and the Fisher assembly buildings are being demolished restored, or redeveloped. The city is changing so much.

    The city should start seizing the run down , unoccupied,trashed houses after sending notices to the owners of their intent to do so. Than auction the properties off to groups,charities, developers or people to fix up and develop. Gentrify. Create jobs and new neighborhoods. It's a shame, cuz downtown Detroit is pretty nice now, all gentrified and fixed up. It's tough if you don't have the tax base to use to fix things.

      Some houses are in the land bank available for people to buy really cheap with the rule that they must show improvement in the property within a certain time. But
      these totally wrecked places are not in the Land Bank. The city has been demolishing homes but there are so many...

    I recently re-read an excellent biography by Eddie Allen of the African-American writer Donald Goines. I was curious to see what the building in Highland Park (232 Cortland Avenue) where he and his wife were shot and killed looked like. I found only a grass-covered empty lot. How long until many of these structures will also be razed?

    It is sad and disgusting to see Detroit city so in this kind of mess. My grand mother used to live on Lennox street and it seems her house his not existing anymore. She was close of Jefferson street and it was a nice neighborhood what a pity.

    Surely, many of those houses that you recorded, at least more than half, are gang members, thugs or bad people. Only a few in that neighborhood are saved, practically 10%. It breaks my heart. It breaks my heart to see a neighborhood that was once a place of business and economic prosperity now be like this..

      The current mayor is Mike Duggan who is currently working like hell with investors to bring Detroit back from the dead..but there's a long way to go..don't blame him..blame Coleman young.kwame kilpatrick and other corrupt politicians who stole millions of dollars from the city and let the people down big time..kilpatrick went to prison..you can also blame the loss of millions of jobs .along with white flight
