Trepanation was, surprisingly, not the most unhelpful thing you could do for headaches before modern medical knowledge. I mean, the risk of infection is MASSIVE, but it would certainly provide immediate relief to people who were suffering from swelling of the brain. In fact, our modern treatment for an increase in cranial pressure - the craniectomy - is effectively the same thing. It certainly wouldn’t be the cause of all headaches, but it would have been potentially lifesaving (at least in the short term) for people who were suffering from inflammation of the brain.
@@tshumukokgalagadi5273 Wrong, and just cos Aussies have a white ancestry doesnt mean we'd get all the european jokes relative to brits that this wouldve been aimed at. Thats like saying Americans would understand British humour, which alot dont and theyre european too.
@@theyellowlightsaber3193 We Americans get it just fine. I also wonder why we didn't get this in America. We love Monty Python, Faulty Towers, Father Ted, Yes Minister, etc.
Is the black gentleman at the end Lenny Henry? I think recognize it from his narration of Neil Gaiman’s‘s Anansi boys - the voice used here sounds like Henry’s acting for Rosie’s mother
Did you mean Peter Davidson? Yeah, you see, I'm such an impatient, fidgety ball of raw nerves I didn't even stop at 14:25, I just shot straight through to the credits and his was the only name that fit the context... unless Helena Bonham Carter is that new Doctor... She isn't, is she?
@@kenlieck7756 OMG Helena Bonham-Carter would have made a far far better Doctor than Jodi Whittaker. Cue the fan fiction lol. Trivia corner:: Peter Davison had a role in the TV version of the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, while he was married to Sandra Dickenson who played Trillian Edit, had to change Dickensian to Dickenson. Bloody autocorrect lol
Never knew Caroline Quentin had such massive talent hidden away.
22:09 🤣🤣🤣 Helena is so funny.. she doesn't need to do much the body language is enough 😂❤ thoroughly enjoyed ✨ HBC
OMG, 10:50 when she choked and made the sounds... this is a real gem 😂
I never knew about this. Would have been even funnier then. 😂
HBC looks so great in this.
“You’re never off your feet when you are an ovum, are you?”
I really really needed this. One forgets that television can make one laugh. LOL.

This is brilliant! A proto horrible histories and a who's who of turn of the century comedy thanks never heard of it before
This was great.
That's Helena bonham carter
Why didn't we ever get this series in Australia?
Wasnt a series was a two parter and we probably didnt get it cos alot of the jokes would be lost on an Australian audience since theyre anglo centric.
@@theyellowlightsaber3193 but Australians are mostly anglo

Yes that's Lenny Henry doing his character Deakus.
VHS Video vault awesome. Thank you!
He was hilarious! The voice, the timing, the lines! Laughed til I cried but I didn’t want to miss anything.
19:09 -is that Helena Bonham Carter...?

Oh yeh I didnt realise that was Pete under the beard, good spot.
A presentation by KY TV
Look it up. We saw that in Australia.
The last one was the best one. What is the name of the comedian?
You mean Lenny Henry and Clive Mantle?
@@vhsvideovault Lenny. I will search for more from him.
is there another tv show that is like this, funny and about history?
Blackadder!
Drunk History. Started in the US, went to Britain.
Harriet Tubman, featuring Octavia Spencer, is legend.
thank you
Big bang was billions of years not millions but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Wow would this generation be able to handle the content in this piece of organic humour
yes, easily

Lesson of the day: If you're the current shite excuses for English comedy then go under the radar by simply ripping off now forgotten Python shows

Some great people in it but it's just awful.
Terribly unfunny stuff from the spoilt brats of the former bbc. I say former because IT IS OVER.
