yes! This. This is extremely important. Every 8 megabits is a megabyte. just like bits and bytes. Megabits and gigabits aren't even real. They exist because Network turds wanted the numbers to look bigger to sell products.
Joe Bloggs I have a question so...I’m just asking because I dont know. But is powerline adapters...the way they work is the same as fiber internet ? Does fiber use electricity and the powerline adapters as well...just trying to understand
These is the greatest invention since the wheel! 😆 So practical! I've used these for about 2 years now and they're great. If I'm going to pay 90$/month (1080$/year) for 400 mb/s speed I want the max out of that speed, it's not giving me 400mb/s but it's at least giving out 90mb/s instead of 15-20mb/s
Using the basic TP Link p-7020 for a couple years, as older PC has no WiFi, and the house has no easy way to run ethernet cable - chronically slow, ie 20Gbs download, 10 upload. After updating the Xfinity modem, my laptop with wifi about 55 feet away is getting more like 200Gbs, using the same tests; I tried all the tweaks suggested to improve the Powerline rate, from having the wall plugs on the same circuit phase, direct, even 'net sockets facing up, using 5 or 5e or even Cat 6 cables, with zero improvement. As a test of the modem, I ran a long run of Cat 6 down the hall, plugged in short Cat 5e patch cords to the modem and PC at opposite ends - speeds again basically 900Gps. I also connected the modem by Cat 5e to the nearby Powerlink, ran a second patch cord from the other open plug on the Powerlink to the PC, so to test if the Link was messing signal up - the same 900Gps. So, the signal via the house wiring is the issue, making use of such powerline devices very dubious.
Question, are you using car 5, 5e or 6? Could be affecting your speeds?

Just some little corrections: -network speed is measured in mbits and not megabytes; megabytes is a size unit. Each megabyte has 8 megabits, so a network with 100mbps speed is able to transfer files at 12,5 megabytes per second. -one megabit has 1024 kbits and not 1000; also one megabyte has 1024 kbytes and not 1000.
Thanks Jose. Yeah, I try to put things in layman's terms but I misspoke a little on the bites/bytes but that's why I have you😜❤

Unbox Junkie thanks 😊 I love your videos, specially the “average man” approach. I think it’s pointless to review very expensive or prototype stuff has some of the other unboxing channels out there 😉
José Pedro Filipe so when i was gaming downstairs i was using a wired connection on my xbox but now i’m upstairs using wireless and i’m getting some lag i didn’t get when i was downstairs using wired. would you suggest me getting the tp link av1000?
If I plugged one of the av1000’s into my main router and then plugged the second in my room, but I hooked up a second router to it, could I use that second router as let’s say a personal router?
These powerline adapters are good. There is a considerable degradation if the device is not in the same circuit as the other end of the adapter is. However, it is better than WiFi.
You mentioned the units need to be on the same circuit. To me that means same circuit breaker. This is not right. Needs to be on the same transformer winding would be more correct. If you were to locate the circuit breakers for the two rooms (in the main breaker box) and measured the voltage between them -- if you measure ZERO volts the circuits will work properly. If you measure 240 volts, it will not work properly as they are on separate transformer windings. Need to swap around some wires/circuit breaker so that both room outlets are on the same transformer winding.
So I have struggled with poor wi-fi coverage and have tried (with poor results) many different wi-fi extenders. I was all set to try this ethernet product until I read there could be an issue depending on your house wiring. I have two separate electrical boxes. The 200 amp box services the original house where my modem & router are located. I have an additional 100 amp box for an addition added later. Since I wish to boost the wi-fi signal in the addition, will this product not work due to the two different electrical boxes?
Do I need to connect the base units to the router directly? Trying to figure out if just buy 1 base and 2 wifi adapters. I have that comcast box and don't want to mess around with the router and modem thing. The wireless on the comcast box is pretty good now just have a basement and upstairs dead zones.
Technically it should be good for about 800 - 900 ft but you wont really know how good it will work until you test it. The upside of getting them from Amazon is if it doesn't work the way you like, you can just return it😎👍
@@UnboxJunkie netgear orbi and others have ethernet ports on the satellite themselves. Work very good! I pay for 250mbps n get about 290+ on wifi n via ethernet to the satelite
Thanks David. Btw, if your more interested in a better wireless network, I'd look into a mesh setup. I plan on looking into some of those in the future.
Daaaamn duggie! Gotta get me summa that! My internet provider sucks donkey ballz anyway but seems like this would help me get the best connection I can without snakin' a ethernet across the house. Like I do when we game. GREAT VID! . . #jessejartworks
I tried xiaomi powerline adapters but not great. They drop in and out of connection. I then changed to Lyra Trio and they are amazing. Never dropped connection since. You can check it out at this link. www.asus.com/sg/Networking/Lyra-Trio/
So much misinformation. The presenter doesnt' know the difference between bits and bytes and he doesn't know how many megabits or megabytes are in a gigabit or gigabyte. Maybe stick to making content that you know thing 1 about.
Great video! The second tplink seems to be great option. One small thing, and I know it's a bit petty, but it's megabit rather than magebyte
Lol you weren't supposed to catch that😜
@@UnboxJunkie, It happens. Slip of tongue. I caught it but I knew what you meant. Great Video!!!!!
Actually, Mbps = Megabit per second,
MBps = Megabyte per second.
lowercase b = bit
uppercase B = byte

Important 'bit' of information here. They should probably annotate that in to the video.
5:38 he also thinks it will still work but not as well if the two outlets aren't on the same circuit...

those are "megabits" you see. 13 megabits = 13/8 megabaits

Your best option wouldve been the google wifi mesh. Or some type of mesh system

I am on the seventh floor. My mom is on the fourth floor. Will it still work?

I’m starting a work from home job that needs hard wire internet. Will this work. I have hard wire in my daughter room but my room is WiFi.
It's a shame they did not put RGB instead of LED, you could have get even better signal :D

🤣 RGB makes everything better

Hawk Davison did it work as intended?
I'm confused, was this a test between the two different products. If not couldn't you just run 3 of the same av1300?
This is exactly what I needed. You my good sir get a like👍🏼
And you get a heart😁
have you thought of reviewing/trying the TP Link Deco M4 Mesh Wifi?
Great video! Will the AV1000 work with cat8 cables?
I plan on gaming... will the 1300 do?
Can u youse the Lan cable and Wi-Fi at the same time?
Can I get more than 1 from the wifi antennas on 1 transmitter?
Don't mix megabits and megabytes. Stick to one and use the correct units
You heard of mesh routers? That would save all the problems
Very useful video for everyone here. Thanks Sir! ⚡⚡⚡
Does it work with any router in house
Dude, you need a switch. :-]
Does this work for 5GHz wifi
It’s actually megabit not megabytes.
Will plugging one to my ps4 with a lan make my ps4 faster?
Yes I do the same
so can i just plug one in my wifi box and one in my xbox??
@@michaeljacksion1067 if it has the x box plug for it then yes
All those cables
Yikes! Go invest in some UniFi equipment and build it right lol
I agree with a mesh network if your going for wifi only but in my case, hardwired for multi PC desktops was the end goal. Success😎👍
Cool devices. Great video👍👌
you ment megabits, not megabytes, I got you bro
A mesh network would be better, but still good video 👌
It would be if I was going for wifi but in my case I wanted hardwired for the 2 desktop setups I have. The wifi was just a perk in my case.

Megabits not bytes dude and this is Ethernet over power
