This video is an attention span test and determines how long you can focus/concentrate on the green circle, similar to a selective attention test. It consists of various (but simple) experiments, including a banana(?), 2D dinosaur, etc. I decided not to include many memes in this one because I made a separate "MEME EDITION"! Some parts felt like an optical illusion because of the way our eyes work! Or something like that… The average human attention span is about 8.25 seconds. Maybe this video can help for "how to fix" your attention span!

***I also want to mention some things I've seen in the comments:***
- The "purple circle" 🟣 that people see after the test will go away shortly after you finish, just wait a little bit and probably don't look at any screens either lol
- I didn't make this video as a watch time scam or anything like that (bruh 😆). This is an actual test I made to help people (maybe) and just for fun. When I first uploaded this video, some people said it was too easy, so I made the 10 minute version. I didn't purposely make the video "easy" just so people would watch the whole thing lol. A lot of people stopped before the test ended, especially at the dinosaurs! Also, it depends on how you found this video; If you wanted to do an attention span test, you are probably more determined to finish it. But if RUclips recommended it to you, it's less likely that you care, and that's why some people say the test is boring, a waste of time, farming watch hours, etc. But many other people said it's also helpful, interesting, relaxing, funny, etc. Just wanted to clear that up and don't forget that this isn't the only video I've uploaded on the channel! 😝

- Don't worry about any jump scares, there aren't any in either video ;)

The terror I experienced when I looked away at the end and saw a purple circle in my vision was indescribable.

I did not exactly focus on the circle, i focused on the numbers, i counted the numbers one by one inside my mind and promised it that it would all be worth it.

The difference is, in real life, your attention span jumps around as it likes which is why sometimes it’d very short. If your mind doesn’t deem it important, it won’t care.
Here, your brain wants to pay attention to the dot just to prove that it can. It’s much easier to stay focused.

This is why people, some with adhd conditions, find real benefit and have success with the “game-ify your life” approach- “how much can i do in 30 minutes only?” rather than “i must do this until it’s done” or, “I’m not good at this thing, but, I will reward myself for getting started and i’ll also make it interesting with decorations that make me happy” and such. (Might not be the best explanation of the concept but…)…
People thrive on challenge, of the particular mix of brain chemicals and reward circuits.

Thank goodness, I was afraid for a jumpscare. I focused on the numbers the whole time, and managed to pass the test, but GOSH IS IT UNCOMFY! It felt weird to just ignore everything, and now I have a purple circle floating around my vision.
Honestly, this test was insane. Never again.

This was actually so relaxing. I was focusing on the numbers so hard I forgot about life for a moment if ykwim. Like all my worries were at the back of my mind lol. It felt nice. And the waves and music in the background also helped me calm down. Thank you 😊
For me, it was nothing. They need to actually last this thing for an hour to see how strong I am. I can focus on something for 5 minutes without blinking.

@@happy_girl93 You might be correct, although I have located other individuals of similar status who have been able to accomplish similar feats. I have managed to make someone actually tear up for it. I found my eyes were only just starting to burn by the time he did. In fact, I turn the brightness on my electronic screens to 100% all the time. Everyone else has it on 0% and I can't see a frickin thing.

Fun fact: after staring at the green circle for 3 minutes, something called an impossible color is seen when the screen goes black. In in this case, since the circle was a green color, the impossible color took on a purple look. If you want to know more, there are several people on youtube that can explain it better than me.

This does not measure attention span, but rather your control over reflexive eye movents
It is normal and good for your eyes to shift focus to something noticable. This is how you keep yourself safe from unexpected threats.
If you wanted to measure attention span or distractibity, it should have ben just a black screen saying you couldn’t switch to another video, read comments, or anything else for the duration of the vid
In my own experience, my eyes were stuck with the circle and the numbers, I thought I lost it once the dinosaur appeared due to the many times I played Google offline game. In conclusion, my eyes were able to focus, but my mind was all over the place. Maybe that's why I enjoy reading. ;p

Well, I won this test, I thought in the end I would be asked about the many distracting things which came into my way, and as they were in my peripheral I kept on memorising them slightly but did not move my pupil anywhere else apart from the dot. Now I am feeling hypnotized, lol!

I caught myself trying to cut off whatever that blue and yellow thing was in its predictable path and stopped myself half way from the center. xD
After I finished the test, I rewatched the video to see everything that I could only see in my peripherals during the test-- and the silly little dinosaurs made me smile so much (they also almost made me fail the test but how could I be mad at their little faces?)
I kind of "half-looked away" at times, seeing both the green dot and the other background. A tip to keep yourself focused is to think about the circle. It's curves. What is it's area? Measured in pixels. I wonder how was it programmed.
These thoughts keep you awake. Also, I saw a purple circle afterwards, which indicates it has BURNT THE CIRCLE INTO MY MIND.
I think the key to this is to simply ignore what comes in the background and not register it as important. Once I did that I made it to 3 minutes.

I got to like 16 but staring at the circle for so long caused a purple reflection on the dot to appear in my eyes and that took my focus away, damn it

Staring at a single color for a extended period of time causes the cones in our eyes responsible for detecting color to fatigue, which often causes the opposite of the color to appear in our eyes. Green's opposite is purple. So i was suffering because i was focusing on the dot TOO hard

A lot of other people also said this. I think the test would be more boring and kinda pointless lol without the background stuff, especially for a RUclips video. At the same time, the dinosaur got so many people that maybe it was necessary 😅

Nice, I managed to complete it. The thing is, many times I'm at classical orchestral concerts, and a few people around me start using their phones, and maybe even start sending messages. They can't even focus on the music sometimes.

Even though i have very short attention span normally, I actually passed this pretty easily! Well, I basically focused on everything around the circle but without looking away, though. Still paid attention to the counter and the circle though!😅

Kudos to you! You hit all my weak spots! You legitimately broke my brain! While taking this test i was simultaneously keeping track of what my brain was doing in response to this whole thing. The whole time i was keeping myself focused on the numbers, and my brain was actually able to inspect everything else around it through my peripheral vision, and it was SO weird. I enjoyed it though! I honestly hate that my attention span only does its job when im focused on stupid shit, and not when I actually need it (THINGS LIKE SCHOOL)
I did actually decide to rewatch it and see what i was avoiding, just for funzies!
I genuinely had fun! I liked it, my eyes hated it, and i will be sending this to my friends!

Actually the scenes and things you added around green dot made it more interesting coz anyone can easily see it through peripheral vision. So this make it easy to keep attention on the dot. Rather you should made it without these distractions and then see who can focus at a green dot in a black screen at the same spot for several minutes. That would be a perfect attention test

It's kinda eerie that, if you stare at the orb without looking away, it progressively starts to morph into a strange, fog shade of purple.
Then you realize it's just being burned into your eyes.

i literally cried during this movie. my eyes were burning.
There were too much intresting things happening to the dot to look away. Though, i lost when the first dino appeared(around 55s left). Great job, but if i were trying to catch viewer attention elsewhere, i would simply add a tetris game at top left or something.
This was an amazing experience, not only did I not gaze away from the counting down green timer dot, but I could see everything unfold before my eyes through my peripheral vision, and it was simply beautiful. The random shapes at the start, the beach, the dinosaurs, nature, the expanding of colors... I smiled throughout the whole video.
I might try the 10 minute vid one day, until then, keep making these, they're awesome!
Oh and do a horror version, I'd definitely test my attention span with it.

The human mind naturally focused on moving objects and things that stand out, same reason you can “see something out of the corner of your eye.” This video in of itself is a trick as it’s quiet literally impossible to fully have your attention span on the green dot due to how the brain works.
