Fun fact: In season 1 of Telltale's The Walking Dead, when Lee is in the police car, the officer will tell him about the time he transported a guy with glasses who murdered someone and claimed he didn't do it. This was confirmed to be, in fact, Thomas Richards.
Aw man I completely forgot about that
Imagine if Lee made it to the prison and got to see Rick grimes himself that would have been so cool.
@@jackmarshall3255 He would have never met Clementine though.
@@gabrielpretto5235 yeah I would rather him met Clem than Rick.
Lee also would’ve been in the same prison the group would’ve been too.
The fact that the author would like a tv animated show of TWD as truthful to the comics as Invincible makes me hopeful to see this adapted someday.
I hope it happens! 😊
I’d almost guarantee we will see an animated adaptation one day. It’s too good a concept not to take advantage of
After the woke times. After the empire.
@@dermagnus8482What is bro talking about?!
Man It would suck not seeing shane as much but an animated series would definitely rock saying as I couldn't watch the TV series anymore around s8
I always find it crazy how Lee and Clementine could have met Rick grimes if they were able to stay at the barn with Hershel.
@@Angel-Berr3 really, they could've met them multiple times, considering they met Glenn and Jesus as well
Alas they are left to be ships passing in the night, so close to one another but never truly coming into contact
@@Malevolence460 fr
@@Malevolence460 i mean who knows, clem could meet Carl since they both live long enough well into the apocalypse
Patricia is like: Oh my god, this guy decapitaded twin sisters and tried to kill a woman in front of the whole group. Let me help him get some freedom even though he murdered little kids.
Patricia is Otis’ girlfriend and neither of them are related to the Greene family, Otis worked on the farm before and they lived at wiltshire estate together. Her character I think is supposed to be like Shane in the show where they show how people are going crazy living in this world and some people just cant handle it. It’s more bluntly shown with Carol in the comics but I feel Patricia was supposed to show the more subtle side of losing your mind due to circumstances.
@@adoman97given how long they probably knew the Greenes beforehand, it's not outside the realm of possibility that she saw them like little sisters.
She and carol were sooo fucked up. The whole thing kinda traumatized me cause I was like ten when I read it haha
I was waiting for her to be killed this arc. She was absolutely the worst character in the comics.
She just want black..
The comic book were so good and perfect but I prefer the show prison arc but we can all agree that the comic Governor is the craziest villain ever in the comic.
This will never not be my hyper fixation
I've never read the comics so I really appreciate you going over it in these videos, to be honest they can't come fast enough for my wife and I.
Thanks for what you do my Canadian friend.
Haha thanks so much mate, always appreciate you watching!
@@Swell-Films you're welcome
The comics are finished, you dont have to wait anymore.
Could you imagine if they did go with the Beth greene decapitation in the show, it would’ve been crazy.. and still it would’ve been better and had more meaning than her actual death in the show 😢
Fun fact: the walkie talkie Glenn first used to make contact with Rick could very well may be the same walkie talkie that he accidentally took from Clementine in the Telltale Series - indirectly leading to Her and Lee helping fire up the comic book storyline
Prison arc will always be the peak of the comics. So many great character and story arcs. Although I think some characters should have had more story. Andrew could have redeemed himself after the revolt attempt and stay with the group until the end, Ben's future story arc could have been more foreshadowed, Allen could have overcame Donna's death, Patricia and Otis would've essentially settled their differences and maybe become a couple again (Patricia was also forgiven too easily since she basically betrayed Rick so that could have been explored much more)... Still, most of the cast were well written. And I kinda get that not everyone is going to get their conclusion in a zombie apocalypse comic.
Can't wait for you to do The Governor stuff, and thangs in the comics.
Comic Tyresse was such a beast of character. Idk why the show couldn’t make him look as good
They introduced him too late
The show has Daryl and Shane for that. Tyreese was almost pointless.
I enjoyed this explanation on the volume and is one of my favorites of the comics. Tyreese is an absolute powerhouse in this volume by not only taking a bunch of walkers but living as well. Julie’s death was sad and a twist on how everyone turns no matter how they die. Shane soul not have put Rick down if the roles were reversed as he saw him as dead already. My question is why did it take so long for Shane to turn when Julie turned in a matter of seconds practically? The Thomas Richard’s moment and Rick’s fight with him are the highlights of this volume in my opinion. I’m looking forward to the next issue and your explanation on that!
“I ain’t gonna bury you again, you son of a bitch” I like to think if Rick believed Shane would return to put down Zombie Rick, he would’ve buried him once more. However Shane’s actions lead to Rick knowing he probably would never give him the same compassion - so he drew the line at putting him down the second time. Love the writing in the comics so much
Please keep going in order. I like these, I guess you’d call them an analysis of each one. Having your comparisons between show vs comic is a huge plus and I like to see what happens to the characters.
Happiness is seeing "Ty Swell uploaded" 🙂 I still prefer the show over the comics until we get to the Governor, but both have their plusses and minuses.
I wish we had seen bald Glenn in the TV series.
Same 😂
For me the vol 1 was just as huge as s1. But i think where the comic felt more hardcore was definitely vol 5 when rick meets the governor
I like volume 1 and 2 but volume 3, to me, is when The Walking Dead really gets good. Volume 3 is one of my favorites.
WAKE UP TY SWELL POSTED 🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥💯💯💯
Can't wait for the 4th installment!!!
Keep it up...
Saturday✅

It’s about the comics✅
Almost 20 minute video✅
Todays gunna be a great day🤩
Love the content man keep doing what you do. You are the best TWD creator on RUclips right now.
So real
Hey thanks so much! That’s very kind to say haha
I got another place to explore- FTWD episode 14 Season 3
'On-The-Go Burger'
It looks interesting, it looks like an outbreak started while the world was still functioning. Its got a little story you could check out.
Gonna need some more of these my guy.
Man, the show really did Andrea and Tyrese dirty
Only Carol got uplifted by the show tbh
I remember when this WD story was still coming out, everyone was saying the Prison Arc was by far the best thing going in comics at that time… they weren’t lying.
great video man! i love the comics i own all of them
Thank you so much! I do as well, at least in volume and compendium form. I’d love to own all the individual issues one day
Thank you for this Ty!
Thanks for watching!
The prison is my fav era in the comics and the show so iconic
Nice pacing ! Keep em coming :)
You deserve way more subs great work mate
Thanks so much!
Lets GO. Im sick of the little amount of uploads i haven't watched...
Dont stop making walking dead uploads.
Amazing Video as per usual my friend! 👏🏼
Thanks so much brother!
Amazing video. Would love to see more recaps on the TWD comic volumes. "Made to Suffer" is one of the most brutal storytelling arcs that even though I liked the TV show adaptation felt extremely watered down from what we got.
Fucking love this dudes comic videos
I'm excited for the next one!
3:52 to be fair I don't blame her for her skepticism
Imagine an alternative storyline where both Lee and Vince (from Telltale's game) went to this prison, found out how much of a mess it was. But somehow, they clear it up from the dead and make it their haven. They would be the first ones to deal with the prisoners, but eventually, Rick's group discovers them and they get allowed in
The probably first 3 seasons would have read great as a shorter serialized animated 12 episode series. Especially with the cutting of our pov into the characters whereabouts and actions really could be used to show the progression of time and their perspectives and survival prowess
Ahhhh ... coffee time
Love this series 😊
time to get my walking dead comics out!
Could you do a video of environmental storytelling about the highway scene?
Are you referring to the scene in season 2? I really wanted to cover that one but I saw Kirkman had actually just straight up stated it was a car crash that killed then so that kinda takes the fun out of it
If you mean the highway scene where everyone had to hide from the hoard of walkers then yes. Such a shame that he (kirkmen) gave us the answer because I had my own theory on the environmental storytelling of that scene.
@@mistermerchant7870 yeah I went to start a script on that one and ended up discovering that pretty quick lol
@@Swell-Films Cool and unfortunate, my theory is that during the initial days of the outbreak, the military, police or Atlanta government on the radio said that any survivors would need to meet along the highway to be picked up, as people listened and followed the instructions, it lead to some car crashes (hence the few cars that were flipped over and the twelve wheeler being knocked on one side) and people waiting out in the open on the highway as opposed to leaving elsewhere. Unfortunate for those survivors, the police, military or government didn't show up to rescue them, so with very little options they either left to go back to Atlanta to save themselves, stayed but eventually died and became walkers or simply left the location because of lack of supplies or fled from a hoard of walkers. Given that these are season 1 and season 2 walkers that can remember stuff, I'd like to think the hoard in the scene is the survivors as walkers because of the one walker heading into the R.V. that Andrea was in. What was your theory and how does it compare to mine?
I need to start reading the comics.
Hello Tyson Swellington 🐢
I hope you're doing alright!
The conclusion of this chapter eats butt, and the show did it much better.
**I think I mean the conclusion of the arc itself
you ever kick ball through brick wall?
ja
@RSR-CNT u must be blocked by them
I love this comment thread.
Hey Ty, i haven an idea for an environmental story telling (I know this isn't a video were you do the telling and ask for ideas):
TWD Daryl Dixon:
- Beginning story with the docked boat in the first episode
I can definitely check it out!
@@Swell-Films btw good content from you as always
Could you please please please do the same thing for Telltale s video game???
^ that would be sooo cool...!!!
The problem with that is he cant explain every different choice you can make
I literally just finished this story a couple days ago.
cool vid ty !
I was very frustrated at how the show adapted the entire prison and Governor arcs. There are good moments, of course, but there are soo much bad and forced stuff, especially the last episodes of season 3. The entire prison attack by the Governor’s army was way more interesting in the comic. In the show they botched it with season 3 finale and then tried again with season 4 mid-finale, yet it wasn’t as interesting and momentum was lost
Yeah I’d say I agree with the ending of season 3 being lack lustre, but personally I absolute love the season 4 mid season finale and I think spending a bit more time with the prison was better in the long run.
@@Swell-FilmsThe mid-finale wasn’t bad, but it just wasn’t the same, if that kind of attack happened at the end of season 3. In fact originally I thought that the national guard soldiers which Governor kills in season 3 would’ve had a tank, which was going to be used in attack on prison in the finale. And other military stuff to. Was really bummed when it turned out to be nothing
NOT TODAY
BAAAANGER AHHGH
Time for my really hot walking dead take: The comic governor is VASTLY superior to the show, in the show he’s greatly inferior to Shane and Negan and frankly even the Termites. The psychotic pirate dude, while a little eccentric and makes a bit less sense, he fits in much better as a random guy who’s just crazy and attacks the group much less frequently and much more violently works better overall.
Nawww it kinda sounds like fanfic compared to the show lol
