@@Nerino It’s soo much better and so much fun! I can play without worrying about chord switches. I can hold even some of the seemingly complicated bar chords too. And now it takes a lot less time to learn a new song than it used to. Although, I am still struggling a bit with “singing while playing” part. But that’s probably because I haven’t focused on that until recently. Nevertheless, I am glad I picked up this cute little melodious instrument.

For anyone look to make a diy capo. Grab a pen and 3 elastic bands, then attach them to one side of the pen, stretch them over the back of the uke’s neck, then attach them to the other side of the pen.
Thank you for this. Though I've only tried with the verse chord pattern, this works on guitar in standard tuning too, capo on 4th fret still. It's not the ukelele sound, but the melody is there and the chords still fit. Just play the chords as you know them for guitar, same pattern as you would w/o capo.
Elise, your tutorials are incredibly helpful, I have had a ukulele for less than a week and already know some songs thanks to you! One thing I love that you do but I struggle with is singing and strumming at the same time. Could you offer some tips on how to improve on that? I sing with the single down strums for now, but I would love to play the whole enchilada!

I'll take a donut too! Someone learning to walk won't be able to run a marathon too soon. Don't give up on yourself. It's perfectly normal to struggle when you're getting used to something new
Try learning a few songs with a slower tempo, less chord changes, and/or a simpler strumming pattern. This little light of mine is great because you stay on C and F most of the song and it's short, so it's much easier to get your brain used to singing and playing if that is a challenge for you. Very easy to repeat and improve. I cried several times because rhythm has always been my struggle. I learned to play guitar at 13 (23 now), and stuck to the basic chords then pretty much quit when I was almost 17 because I thought I was incapable. A year ago, I started learning music theory, scales, power chords, parallels , and focused also focused on rhythm - by studying and tapping to beats in music that's randomly playing. Side note: posture and positioning is detrimental to good playing and keeping your hands strong and healthy. I've learned 50× more in a single year than I did in almost 4 years, because of the method of study. If you have an objective, focus on it, and learn from the ground up. Forget about playing the song that you can't play, until you either play it slower and get comfortable, or learn rhythm and get comfortable. Either way, it's the most rewarding thing on Earth, and I highly recommend continuing with a more effective strategy.
