I was excited to find out my cousin still has her 19 yr old Element with 179k miles & going strong. Got to ride in it while camping this weekend & brought a big grin to my face. Of course I told them about your channel!
Good job cleaning the element. Looks good for Shannon's road trip adventure. 👌
Wow the detail Crew. You two are thorough, my fingers are crossed for the vehicle.
Oof, Yep..
What I use is disinfectant named "In-Cide" which comes in pre-mixed gallon or spray bottle, or else I dilute it myself if it's concentrate.
I spray it on every material including seats, metals, plastics, glass.. Spray on rag and then wipe surfaces or spray and let it sit for 5-10 mins, then I spray and wipe it again before final drying and plastic or vinyl treatments.
Moldex and In-Cide disinfectant are 2 must haves when dealing with rodents in vehicles. (or bio hazard auction cars).
The rodent pee stinks so bad, the engine can also be sprayed and cleaned with these to get rid of food and urine smells. Check all wire harness for intrusions and assume any check engine lights are possibly wire causal before throwing parts at it. The dash is #1 spot for wire damage when rodent is inside the vehicle, if it was on the engine, then engine wires are most likely damaged somewhere if at all, also the air intake tube and filter may be funky and the cabin filter and fresh air intake vent in the dashboard. Remove heater blower motor and inspect the blower box for any signs of dropping or debris, use In-Cide disinfectant to spray out the dash subframe blower box and vents, along with air and rags, possible need to create a drain hole with drill in lower heater core 'air' box and cover the hole when finished blowing out the system with in-cide disinfectant and air. Any issues, feel free to bounce text back at me.
Hi, you need an element sized vacuum bag you can drive into and seal when leaving it to stand for any time 🤓.
Hi Nate and Shannon great to see you both great job on detailing the element
📌📌📌 if you haven’t, for pests you might try adding chunks of Irish Spring soap to the inside all the vehicles & storage! Works well for a lot of RVr’s! Best 🎉
Nice to see the Element back in action! Hope the bucktoothed freeloaders stay out this time. Have a wonderful trip!
Consider flooding the cabin floor& seating w/car wash foam. Then use the wet brush on the doors, tailgate etc. After working the foam about throughly w rushes &rags; vacuum out all foam. It will take most of the dirt with.
I clean my engine bay similarly.
Spray it with water and a teaspoon peppermint shakewell and spray everywhere
Peppermint oil! Mice don't like, AND it'll help with the odor. Put a few drops on cotton balls and tuck it in the places the mice like to hide out.
I’d saturate those cotton balls with that peppermint oil… it’s true mice hate it + a couple of drops might not be enough! They don’t like to chew thru tin foil either so stuffing cavities with crumpled up balls of tin foil’s a great deterrent also 😅* 🚫🐁🐁🐁
Nate you can get what ever smell your wanting to get in your car and make sure your system is on outside air and spray it in the cowl by your wipers where the fresh air goes in and then set inside and switch it to all your modes defrost, dash, floor ect.and it does a good job of putting the fragrance through your whole heat and cooling ducts should help alot. But the best way to distribute is by putting it or spraying it thur your fresh outside air intake which is generally done through the vent by the cowl at the bottom of winshield.👍
Would be great hearing how you of you work together discussing how & what to do. Problem solving when you have differences.
That air conditioning fan blower motor and housing (Bosch) looks exactly like the one in my 30 year old Volvo. Your car's cabin air filter is supposed to keep "stuff" from getting into the that ac part.
That dash cam looks great, will check it out. 😃 For a last ditch effort with the smell; when we bought our previous camper, after everything thing else, we bought a pack of incense and burned the whole pack of sticks in a pot of sand with the windows closed. HEM brand Ceder incense is great. Incense is good for that lived in oder built up, too.
I just did this same project with mine last year. It only has 80k on it so it sat for a while. The stink was nasty. I removed every single piece of the vehicle from the rear up to the dash. I found a ton of nests and excrement. Took me like 8 hours. Smell is better but I need to pull the dash next. Even many rounds with an ozone generator didn't work. I am guessing you just barely scratched the surface with your cleaning. Those rear side panels, door panels, and under the rubber floor were filled. I hate mice.
Mics sound great!
What a unbelievable video you guys are great !!
Unbelievable? Whoa... they cleaned a car?😂
@@commonsense6297 🙄
Some advice from someone who's been there, done that: Rodent repellants work, until they don't. Good luck.
Chocolate cake mix, and baking soda mixed together, with a bowl of water near by. They can't resist. For the mice jiffy cornbread and baking soda! Yummy!!!
That's the recipe I was trying to remember! Jiffy cornbread mix and baking powder. There was a guy off grid in Oregon who swore by it.

Shannon is so pretty & sweet; good job, buddy.
Should have gotten spray nine 😵🤣

Lance PB Crackers 👍🏼
I had mice in my car because I had bird feeders nearby. I got rid of the bird feeder and no more mice!
They have rodent repellent for automobiles now. They are 12 volt under the hood and it will keep them from destroying your car. Wires and insulation. And yes vent spray and air freshener bombs for your cars now. I think the worst fear should be the fleas from thee mice. They can lead to various health problems. ( I’m in NM ) myself. And pack rats are also an issue. Which you don’t want eye contact with whilst driving.
Turn the fan on sucking from outside spray Lysol outside in 🤌
They key to catching rats is to leave the traps baited but not set for at least 3 days. Then, set the traps. Keep repeating this.
So You Couldn’t Believe You Found Around $60 In The Element? I Guessing Shannon Is Taking a Solo Road Trip Back To Florida.
LOL...... " CLICK BAIT " " Mice Bait " " Rat Bait "
I wonder how long you're going to have to deal with the mice and rat problems ?
Basically as long as they live there. Desert areas are notorious for pack Rats and mice.
@@adventureswithgnomie6553 it's possible to keep them out of your property. Done every day.
Prayers for safe travel for Shannon🙏
Would you guys consider a shed area for your vehicles to try and eliminate the rodent infestation?
Did you replace the cabin air filters? I saw the fan cleaning but there are filters under the dash.
Hondas are notorious for attracting mice, maybe it’s the type of materials they use?
Soy based plastic insulation on the wires, and other places.
Buy an ozone generator and run it in the element for a couple of hours.
I have a couple of Bobtail cats if you want one or two or more. They are outside cats and even the big dogs in the neighborhood run from them. Seriously funny to watch, only the little wiener dog goes after them. They hit the trees lol. From deck rail to roof about 6 feet they jump up there easily. Snakes no problem either.
How in the heck are they getting in the headliner? Are they chewing their way through it?
An ozone generator!! Grest thing to have or rent from a car dealership overnight....
A uv-c bulb that generates ozone can work too, much cheaper, but put it in a box to prevent the light from hurting the plastic/fabric at close range. Let it sit overnight windows shut..... should be fine, getting ride if lingering odors.
Oy vey. I wouldn't have worn a mask while vacuuming the rat droppings.
Goodbye
Your site reminds me of Tristan's from SUV RVing
I did see his video recently of when he was out at your property. 👍
You definitely got all the OLD stuff out! But yeah, no one likes finding rodent evidence in their vehicles! Another great video!
Be aware of Honda Element Catalytic converter theft. You will be exposed to this theft once you leave the safety of your property.
probably too late. but try a CO3 generator. should kills off all smells.
I would have got some lysol or another disinfectant too! Mouse/rat poop is never anything to fool around with!
Stuffing steel wool in those entrances and crevices seems to work well too.
Glad you got it clean, safe travels!
I'm going to have to build my garage for car storage when I move into the same area you two are in. I had dreams of critters doing there thing at my future place. Thanks for all your great info.
I've never been so thankful I don't have to worry about mice in my vehicles. Nasty. If you get more property maybe a more northern state.
You are the reason I got an Element a couple of years back, it’s the Best Vehicle I’ve ever owned!
I would recommend purchasing the detail attachment set from Home Depot that comes with the orange hose.
Crazy how much stuff they were able to drag all over the place
Get yourself an ozone generator. They are cheap and work miracles. Leave the HVAC blower on to circulate.
Shop vac attachments yeah okay good luck 😂😂.. I tried to find some and said whatever and bought 2 new vac so I can have them. Same issue ( Amazon is prime for this issue) they have same products within the product you want. Say shop vac in the middle of the page shows the models you can upgrade to and they all have the same reviews and not knowing what review goes to what one 😂. So someone asked will this fit a 2in hose some said yes others said no. All because all reviews are for all their line of products.
I took my regular house vac and duct tapped to the end for extra attachments 😂😂😂😂
Why you don’t try mothballs, worked for my squirrels
Shannon when you found that critter in the cabin air did you change that filter or just clean up that area? I figure you did change the filter but if you didn't theres probably smell on it thats recurring.
Element is looking good. A little love & it's ready to roll.
What can be done to prevent a return of the rodents?
Ew
And a cat
Not every cat will deal with rodents. I've had many cats in my lifetime of 73 years and only one caught a rodent. They are good at killing and eating bugs.

What are they selling out 😂
