Been to bury and leeds a few times they are both great places. Leeds has better air con but the original Bury venue has lots more to do. I hope to do blackpool next year. Its great to see this business model doing well! A small arcade has opened up near me in Halifax at the piece hall
The atmosphere was good and I had a good old time. The last time I went, there was no air conditioning. Not good. I'll be going there in the evenings this winter so I don't have to use my own central heating. There are a lot of hungry, old, power inefficient components in there so I suspect they'll need to replace those original boards with Raspberry Pis to get through the man made energy crisis.
Big Thanks to you Kim for being part of our event and letting me interview you. Myself and the team really appreciate the kind words about Nerdcon and love this video - We will be getting in contact as we will be announcing Nerdcon 2.0 very soon
I'd so dearly like to have a go on that Strider cabinet. That was my favourite as a kid. But there is so other much good stuff at this place too. Hope I can make it to the UK again one of these days.
The top floor takes me back to my days spent down SouthEnd seafront. Aah what great memories. I can almost smell the aroma of deep fried donuts and fish and chips.
I feel like I'm back in the 90s while watching this. We still got arcades where I live but it's mostly slot machines, Mario kat arcade and gun games that I have never seen before. A lot good memories playing TMNT with friends and sometimes strangers lol.
HI Kim what an amazing place and what a great event I loved every minute of it and it was truly an honor to meet you in person (I was the star struck guy in the Astro Wars T-Shirt lol) keep up the great content and I can't wait for Nerd Con 2 hopefully they will have a sit down Space Harrier in time for next year 😁
I love seeing retro Arcade games! Takes me back to my youth going to seaside towns and going abroad and there was always Wrestlefest, The Simpsons, X Men and a great shoot em up that was in this video, Terra Cresta!
I live within walking distance to the arcade club and enjoy going with my family for a day out. It has gone through a lot of changes over the years some for the better some not as much but I feel its in a great spot right now and easily the best local place to visit for gamers of all ages.
Hi Kim... was great meeting you at Nerdcon.. I'm releasing Galactoids 25th November, but I will defo send u a copy well before then... ps.. Peter ward from retrigamesmaster sends his regards.. was chatting to him after the event.
Great little place this! I might try and go when visiting friends up there. Thanks a lot for the vid, Kim! entertaining as always! :) I just hope they can survive the rising energy prices!
Classic Kim!!!! Always love your vlog uploads on youtube, from your manchester, blackpool, norbreck hotel, london, awful retro games night vids, great to see this style of vid again, thankyou!
The washing machine thing is still very popular in Japan. Even after seeing a couple of people playing with these (some kind of rhythm game) I still have absolutely NO IDEA how to play these 😂
Another awesome vid mate, took me back to memory lane. Looks like you had a lot of fun. Here’s a tip for filming crt’s though, I discovered this through trial & error coz I film a lot off crt’s: keep your camera on 50fps but set your shutter speed to 1/60 or 1/120 this will stop the “roll” effect you get on the crt’s in your vid. And if you put your ISO between 400 & 600 when filming indoors, the colours will really pop off the screens too.
As a native New Yorker, I would love to go to this place. It’s different of the layout is very unique and some of the games are ones that I have not seen before.
Wow I’ll have get to that place now you’ve shown it have take my son there I’ve got outrun on arcade 1 up but the deep colours on the arcade so much better thanks for video amazing tour ❤️❤️
Oh wow!! I visited the arcade on the 28th July!! Shame I missed this. Still, great place, so much variety and a great retro selection on the top floor =D When I can, definitely want to revisit !!
Top draw video kim, this place looks an absolute dream....respect to all the people at the venue, they have done a remarkable job, machines look spotless and much loved. 👌👌👌
I haven't been since 2017 or so myself. Particularly enjoyed all the odd modern music games last time I went which make a fine palette cleanser when you get a little overwhelmed by the sheer number of retro machines.
I really wanted to attend this but it happened in the week between coming off holiday and moving house. I've not been since the pandemic, I'll have to make an effort and go.
I have seen that Mission Impossible arcade once. And Kim you won't believe this, but it was Southend. I think it was Electric Avenue, but last summer they had it. I played it, it was awesome. Went back a month or so later, and it was gone! Also I saw WWF Wrestlemania once in the wild, that was the Troc, just before SegaWorld opened there and it was Fun Land.
A very interesting place, the electricity bill must be large. Never played arcade machines myself; I have poor hand eye coordination added to that I had OCD and ASD and felt very self conscious.
We visit the Leeds one on a recurring basis and it looks to be around the same size but with different machines. I noted a few that Leeds doesn’t have but at the same time I didn’t see some stand outs that Leeds enjoys.
Great arcade. I hope they are able to have sucesso. Arcade places ti survivor must have experiences that people have dificulty to have até home. Airhocking, v.r, paddle games, light gun, driving wheels, trackball, pinball, some japanese extravaganza, etc. Games that have a tipical controller are easy to play in house.
This is my heaven.....shame I'm broke. Bless mame I guess. Edit - I too didn't see quite a few of these back in the day and I certainly went to many many arcades....
Was there a few years ago and it was awesome then - only seems to have got better since! Worried how they will survive with the crazy energy price increases coming up though 😕
Shame they don't have the mediocre G-LOC on the very unmediocre R360 cabinet. I played that once at the London Trocadero or the arcade at Hamley's. Spent the entire game trying to make the cabinet barrel roll.
Cool to see that they have a good amount of rhythm games here. The washing machine one is actually called "Maimai" and... yeah, it being a washing machine is definitely an in-joke in the rhythm game community. And, oh man, Dancing Stage EuroMIX. Every British DDR players most hated game of all time, I'm fairly sure.
It's weird that there's two Judge Dredd arcade games by Gremlin that didn't get out of the prototype phase. I've played on the beat-'em-up one but never seen the light gun one, though I do have the PS1 game so I know I'm not missing much.
Blimey that's changed since I last went in 2019. It's a shame the Blackpool one is much smaller than the bury venue but the Blackpool one is still Great tho.
A few of them save high scores (Outrun for example), but most are lost when the machines are reset. Of course not everyone realises this, so they spend 10 mins playing Dig Dug, get to the top of the default high score table, then proudly post a picture of it on Instagram declaring themselves champion of the world!
At £16 for all you can play it's usually really busy in Leeds, but even if they charged £20 a session I cannot see it putting people off as it's such a great night out.
@@seany84uk I think hundreds of pubs close in the UK because of electricity bills and that place consumes a lot of power. Just search youtube for pubs in UK closing. And a place like that, with all those arcades, I hope Im wrong but I think it will close.

@@Kim_Justice Ah, so it's about the man who creates drama about laying into scammers, then shilling for what is possibly the biggest scam in videogame history. One in Leeds is nowhere near this size, but it really is excellent. Love the place
I live about 20 mins drive away and I love it. Though they need to bring back Darius Gaiden!

Chase HQ 2 was developed in London, hence why some of the shops in the city are Curry's and PC World. :D
Nancy is also played by Jakki Degg, glamour model who was a regular in the UK lads mags at the time.
Living in Leeds, it's amazing we have Arcade Club here now. With the original Outrun motion cabinet. Outstanding machine.
I live near Leeds and have been loads to the Leeds AC, and it's awesome. I do love the lightgun corner.

The rhythm games are dope as well
Great vid Kim.. i'm a late 70s/early 80s kid and grew up in the arcades. I must visit this museum, it brought back memories.
good old arcades not been in one for years. this was brilliant.
5:45 Not even lying here, folks. This here's my favorite game of the imports, it's worth it to visit an import arcade JUST to play this.
Living in Australia I'd kill to go to this place!
Thanks for showing us around, I really enjoyed the footage, and of course: I always enjoy some Kim.
Used to hang around in my local arcade when I was a kid , never had any money though 😂😂😂
I frequent arcade club a lot, it's handy being 2 miles down the road, amazing place so many childhood memories relived 3rd floor is where its at!

Why cant i find these outside my local dairy anymore? Thanks for the upload Kim!
This is incredible. I will seriously fly in from Sweden just to visit this place. What a dream.
This is amazing, I wish I lived a bit closer. I can't even imagine what their electricity bill is like.
How on EARTH will they survive considering England's electric price rises?
They will have to put the entry fee up a bit
