I just ordered one. Didn't know there is a usb-c, but I don't mind. We will use it for streaming, but I'll also try the spacedesk app on it. With that app you can make a external screen from your pc within the same network. Hope it will work. Thanks for the video.

After testing further, I can confirm that the Type C port can be used to to power the device. Very useful if you travel/stay in hotels alot - save on luggage and just use your multi-port (phone) charger instead and leave the device's psu at home.

Yes, there are several SEI Robotics manufactured certified boxes that have this USB-C capability, including the much more powerful 8010 and the Homatics Box R 4k Plus. Those last two are "clones" in that they have the same hardware but different cases and remotes.

You might need to go into developer options* then scroll down to near the bottom and click on "Force allow apps on external". Then you might have to reinstall those apps.
      * IF you don't have Developer Options enbled you can do that by going to settings-Device preferences-about-Build and click on that 7 times until you see a message popup saying something like "You are now a developer"... press the back button once and then you should see the developer options section

A great Review ! with some perfect questions asked by the potential users.. I Appreciate all the testing and time put into the review , it shows 👍. I’d say it’s one of the most ordinary looking streaming boxes I’ve seen in a long time . (the Logo/product name, is enough to get people interested in it as I’m sure they knew that as well when designing this) what I’m seeing, it does very well in all the categories that I’m most interested in when choosing a 4k streaming box. I wonder if there will be a “next device” & if so will it target the States or not. Thanks for the Review 🍻

      Good question.
I can't give you a definitive yes, nor no as I no longer have the Nokia box...but...
I have the Homatics Box R 4K Plus, which is also made by SEI Robotics like the Nokia, and it also has a type C port (which can be used in the same way as the Nokia in that it can power the device from a phone charger etc). Any how, I've just tested a 1gbpbs adaptor through that port an nope, it didn't work. So I'd guess that one would work on the Nokia either.

I intend to use it mostly for playing MKV and mp4 files from an external drive which has been formatted on a PC using NTFS and so far no problems. I must say that the picture and sound quality is very good. Better than any of the media players I have owned in the past. My only concern is the power output from the USB A port on the side of the unit. Some of my older hard drives need an external power source. SSD and memory sticks are OK.

Hello nice video but is this box running on 64bit android tv OS or 32bit?
i bought the Nvidia Shield TV (tube) and couldn't get some apps working becouse of the limitation of its OS running in 32bit (impossible to install apps like Geekbench and such) and i want to install (sideload) Google Drive but wasn't able to so i returned the Shield

    • @WOTBoxTV

Just like the Shield Tube version, this is 32bit. You CAN *easily* access Google drive ( I do it on all devices I test). Simply use the X-plore file manager from the play store and configure a cloud service (obviously in this case choose Google Drive out of a dozen or so options). Depending on where you are based, the Youin You Box is a clone of this Nokia and a few €uros cheaper. Good luck 👍

@@WOTBoxTV Hi, just to tell you that the Nokia 8010 was delivered to me. I tested it for half a day, great device. PS: it also reads my 1Tb NTFS hard disk, all formats, mvk, mp4, subtitles, etc etc. I use MX Player for reading.

Nokia Box 8000 vs Nvidia Shield Tube?

If it's just for streaming, I'd go Nokia (or Youin You Box) because you have the added capability of ethernet and USB ports etc...
The Tube is very good though with it's AI 4k upscaling

A big plus for users (like me) with old AV Receivers is the option of the Audio Out (SPDIF Optical) which non of those has: apple tv, nvidia shield, fire tv cube... HDMI from Streamingbox to TV/Projector and Audio from Streamingbox to AVR. Price: 77€ Nokia vs ~120€ Nvidia.
