  • I had a unifi cloud key Gen2 plus fail to power up via POE. Instead of buying a replacement I did some research and decided to install a unifi controller on my Synology NAS via docker. I was able to get the Cloud Key powered up via a Quick Charge 3.0 adapter, but wasn't sure really why it wouldn't power up, once powered up it was showing a high 19.82 watts on the POE port so I decided to run a Unifi Controller on my Synology before the cloud key just completely failed on me.
here are the ports used in the video on the Firewall settings.
    TCP
    8080,8443,8843,8880,6789
    UDP
    3478,10001
Quick Charge 3.0 adapter I used.

    Great tutorial!
I run into an error message though.
I mounted /var/lib/unifi to docker/unifi according to video.
I can launch the UniFi Docker but when checking the log for the UniFi Docker it states as follows:
"WARN Unable to load properties from '/usr/lib/unifi/data/system.properties' - /usr/lib/unifi/data/system.properties (No such file or directory)"
What can I do to fix this?
    Thanks a lot in advance!

I have an Ubiquiti system with a couple of WAPs. Are you running cameras on the synology based controller? It is my understanding that the doorbell and other cams require the ubiquiti nvr/cloud key. Thanks, Max

I’m currently not running any cameras as I have an older stand alone NVR. I did purchase the cloud key gen 2 plus to check out UniFi Protect and yes you need it to be able to run protect. I’m also interested in using Synology Surveillance Station and kind of like it as a better option because you can use all types of cameras instead of just Unifi
